Gingrich: Left Wing Of The Democratic Party "Admires" American Terrorists

Speaking to Sean Hannity on Fox News Friday night, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich told the conservative pundit that "the left wing of the Democratic Party, frankly, kind of admires American terrorists." Gingrich then went on to say that "they don't mind at all that Farrakhan is anti-semitic. They shrug off Jeremiah Wright."

Funny, but the bIggest American Terrorist of them all, Timothy McVeigh, was a right-winger who most likely voted Republican (if he voted at all). Lest we forget, Today is the 13th anniversary of the Oklahoma City Bombing.

Not a big fan of Farrakhan, but I don't recall him ever blowing up anything. Note Gingrich's very calculated use of the word "terrorist" to now mean "anybody who doesn't agree with the government".

Scary stuff. Presumably if they're "terrorists" they can be detained without habeous corpus and subjected "advanced interrogation" techniques. I didn't realize we were this far down the road to bananarepu­blicville.

This is Ginrich’s lame attempt at trying to be relevant during the 2008 presidential primaries.
If not for Gingrich having had acknowledged in an interview --- with a conservative Christian group, no less--- that he had an extramarital affair as he led the charge against President Clinton over the Monica Lewinsky affair, he might have been able to be the Republican Presidential nominee today.
Sounds like narcissistic Newt is having a pity-party for himself (not to mention it sure looks like he has been comforting himself with food, besides adulterous affairs).

I'm always amazed the right wing blowhards O'Reilly, Limbaugh and, now, Gingrich can without any basis whatsoever state categorically what the "left wing" is thinking. If they're hanging around leftists enough to know what's deep in their hearts, shouldn't they too be suspect for the associates they keep? And, frankly, if you lined up ten thousand self-described "leftists" and an equal number of self-described "conservatives", gave them sodium pentothal and asked each of them if they "mind at all that Farrakhan is anti-semitic", I suspect you'd get two leftists to say they agree with him and about 100 of the conservatives.

How can anyone who's ever been within sniffing distance of a journalism school anchor such programs without asking the speaker, "And your basis for this generalization is ...?"

Thats a typically astute observation by Newt. How does he explain the fact that the right wing of the Repuglican party tends to bring out the more recent domestic terrorists like McVeigh and Rudulph? And I guarantee you that those guys didn't start out in the Civil Rights and anti-poverty movement (like SDS and Weatherman). Of course I condemn their transition to violent tactics, but let us keep some perspective here.
