Newt

Speaking to Sean Hannity on Fox News Friday night, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich told the conservative pundit that "the left wing of the Democratic Party, frankly, kind of admires American terrorists." Gingrich then went on to say that "they don't mind at all that Farrakhan is anti-semitic. They shrug off Jeremiah Wright."

Watch the exchange with Hannity:

No Newt, there is nothing I admire about you fascist terrorists. You and your ilk have tried to destroy this nation, but you will not finish what you started.

So wait, Farrakhan and Jeremiah Wright are terrorists? That's news to me.

But I'm guess right wing psychos like Pat Robertson and Fred Phelps aren't terrorists?

Interesting...tell me more Newt...

This is what is so scary. They can name anyone they like as terrorist, and when named, these people have no rights, can't even defend themselves.

Whether you are a student of American history or you are a baby boomer who was around back then, you are keenly aware that the Weather Underground were very bad dudes. Killing two policemen and a security guard is not a tiny and symbolic act (as Mrs. Ayers has claimed). Senator Obama needs to cut these two loose. It is not something that he needs to have constantly brought up in the coming months. Even to people who don't exactly know about the Weather Underground, it will connect Obama to a very ugly piece of the history of American liberalism and it will connect him with a really excessively radical part of the Party. I'm surprised that the Senator doesn't feel this.

To claim the Weather Underground is an example of "American liberalism"
is just a bit of a stretch don't you think?

I wish the right would settle on the '60's once and for all. A bunch of cowardly anti-war, dope-smoking vegetarians or violent left-wing revoltuiaries?? Which is it??

Oh, you might want to examine the FBI's early and total infiltration of the Weather Underground and the anti-war movement before you write your history of the '60's and who exactly caused all those riots.

Makes for some heady reading!
Like when you first found out Carl Rowan worked for the CIA.

One definition of a conservative is "Somebody who hates the 60's". Maybe some hippie stole their girlfriend back then or something.

"Killing two policemen and a security guard is not a tiny and symbolic act..."

Interesting. How do you quantify the killing of millions of Vietnamese civilians?

Well, I was around back then. And I believe if you fact check, you may even find connections between the Weather Underground and the Clintons. Yet there is no media jumping on that. Why? That story works both ways.

Newt Gingrich & Sean Hannity together, under one roof? That's more clowns than Ringling Bros. has in three rings!

Hey, Newt... you serial adulterer: you own party threw you out. Why do you think that anyone other than the three-toothed morons who watch FOX would give a bleeding rat's a_s about what you think.

Toad apparently believes he has passed the Nixonian limit of public memory and may now reemerge from his hole. He is unaware that now, with the echo chamber of the Internet, his reputation will follow him for the remainder of his days discrediting his opinions.

I seriously doubt leftwingers admire the neocons.

I notice that most of the posts here are ad hominum attacks on Newt Gingrich, rather than critiques of what he said in the clip above. And you can bring up Timothy McVeigh until you are blue in the face, but that doesn't negate the fact that there were terrorists on the left in the 60s and 70s, including members of the Weather Underground. Barack Obama has definitely associated with Bill Ayers, and the American voter deserved to know that. If anybody has evidence that Newt Gingrich associated with Timothy McVeigh, by all means bring it forward! Last week was not a good one for Mr. Obama, and I think Newt's observations on Mondale and Dukakis (which, amazingly enough, nobody is mentioning here) are quite to the point.

Oh like wow, let's "critique" some infamous jerk's unsupportable speculation stated as fact.

The fact people like you are so easily mislead by such b.s. is a huge problem in the world.

Weren't the Weather Underground just living out the right-wing fantasy of using the 2nd Amendment to fight off an oppressive government?

Gingrich is correct, for once!

As a left-wing liberal I am proud to say I support the terrorists who founded our great nation, those who signed the Declaration of Independence. My ancestors were already here at that time, and their descendants have fought in every war since then.

Gingrich is correct. The left wing nuts that have taken over then democratic party do admire someone like David Ayers and many other anti-American nuts. They love that kind of thing. This sure isn't Truman or JFK's democratic party anymore....and hasn't been for a LONG time.

‘FOX-KIDS’ isn't a news show!
‘FOX-KIDS’ is a 24 hour a day, 7 day a week, 527 PAC ad for the traitorous GOP!

This 'interview' of Gingrich was nothing of the sort.
It was an "Elect McCain" TV spot.
How any fully formed adult mind could be taken in by such a transparent attempt at misinformation is beyond me.
But, then again, my Mom and Dad weren't brother and sister!

Newt 'THE ADULTERER' Gingrich is back on FOX-KIDS duping their 'Dukes of Hazard' watching base!
Talk about an easy gig; duping a 'FOXIE' is as easy as picking up a republican politican in a public men's room!
