'Vast Right-Wing Conspiracy' Leader's Newspaper Backs Clinton

PHILADELPHIA — Could it be the "vast right wing conspiracy" is having second thoughts? Democrat Hillary Rodham Clinton was endorsed Sunday by the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review, whose owner and publisher, billionaire Richard Mellon Scaife, personally funded many of the investigations that led to President Clinton's impeachment in 1998.

It was one of a handful of endorsements the New York senator has received from Pennsylvania newspapers before the state's primary Tuesday. Most of the state's major papers have endorsed Barack Obama.

In its endorsement, Tribune-Review editors said Obama is too inexperienced to be president and that his recent comments about bitter voters living in small towns showed a lack of respect for middle-class values.

"In sharp contrast, Clinton is far more experienced in government _ as an engaged first lady to a governor and a president, as a second-term senator in her own right," the paper said. "She has a real voting record on key issues. Agree with her or not, you at least know where she stands instead of being forced to wonder."

Clinton met with the Tribune-Review's editorial board, including Scaife, last month. Afterward, Scaife wrote an editorial titled "Hillary, Reassessed," declaring how impressed he had been by the former first lady.

"Her meeting and her remarks during it changed my mind about her," Scaife wrote.

In the 1990s, Scaife helped support conservative groups and publications investigating Bill Clinton's financial dealings and sex life.

Scaife spent $2.3 million to fund a series of articles by The American Spectator magazine that dug into Bill Clinton's behavior as governor of Arkansas.

The magazine reported that Clinton had asked state troopers to help procure women for him and that he had sexually harassed a state worker named Paula Jones. Jones's legal case against Clinton helped launch an independent counsel investigation that eventually exposed his relationship with White House intern Monica Lewinsky.

Hillary Clinton famously defended her husband at the time, saying the allegations were part of a "vast right-wing conspiracy" heavily funded by Scaife.

Hillary is embraced by right wing republicans... she belongs to a right wing christian religious order called the Family or the Foundation... that is politically powerful and seeks to amas power.. I assume there is much support for Senator Clinton as they feel if they Clinton or McCain they win...

The Clintons are showing their true colors now. The Democratic Party is currently SPLIT between Liberals (USA out of Iraq NOW) and so called "Centrists" which are actually Republican Lite, stay the course, definitely right wing, not all Centrist.

She expects Obama to denounce everybody that isn't PC.
In the end Hillary will look bad for taking this endorsement.

What an endorsement. This assumes that we all know Hillary and don't know Sen. Obama, subtly appealing to your fears. The Clinton's are now dancing with the "Boogie Man." We should all come to understand that the candidacy of Sen. Obama has many of the gatekeepers used to the corridors of access and power afraid. They realize, that finally, they too will be subject to the same playing field as the average citizen, with no shortcuts available.

Hillary is in love with Scaife who spent millions of dollars in an attemp to get rid of her husband while she is at war with moveon.org which was formed and whose members fought to save her husband.

She has many faces and they judged her depending on which side they stand. After the Clintons' tax return release, if anyone has any doubt of where she stands, it is because they stand at the same side with her. She has acting talent, just look at how she gives seeches with her hand sweeping like a Pope. They think earning millions by supporting NAFTA, CAFTA, while going around telling voters she opposed it, is just normal business. If she supported it and earned millions, just say so, so that voters know the truth and vote her with that knowledge. She threw kitchen sink at Obama but voters judged that he has the quality to be a president so hopefully voters will vote him in the WH so we have a change for the better. Not that he knows everything but he knows how to get things done by listening to other sides, unlike Clinton. She is "re-assessed" as experienced and strong but that know-it-all elitist trait will re-surface once she is number one in the White House again. Not much different from her co-presidency in the 90s. Chaotic, egocentric, tyrany, self-serving liar. Combined that with a Bill in the WH again, that is a disaster waiting to happen!
