Former President Bill Clinton, speaking to reporters after his wife's event in Pittsburgh, PA Monday, said that under the republican primary system -- his wife would be ahead by hundreds of delegates.

"I did not actually get the delegates necessary to have a first power of the nomination under the crazy system the democrats have," Clinton said. "If we were under the republican system which is more like the electoral college, she would have a 300 delegate lead ...It's an eternity 'til the general election, an eternity."

We'd all be better off if they stopped pretending to be Democrats.

Well, why doesn't she switch party then, if the Republicans do it so much better? She's supported every hawk policy of Bush so far anyway, and she's mastered Rove's mud-slinging tactics. She might as well officially join the party of the Grand Old Perverts.

You know, it all sort of makes sense now. The Clintons might have been convinced that it would be easier to turn the Democrats into the party of business, abandoning labor, than to try to get the Republican party to appeal to the black vote. They could then link pro-business pro-civil rights preferences and realize the liberal Republican dream of fair government friendly to business. They were liberal Republicans who knew they couldn't appease the radical right. Their problem then is the entire center and left of the Democratic progressives who want corporations curbed, disciplined and reformed.

Maybe she should switch parties, she acts just like the GOOD Old PARTY. It took this election for me to see Bill and Hill for what they really are.

Hillary would be winning under the Repub system and if my aunt were a man she'd be my uncle. I don't give a damn what Bill Clinton thinks.

He sounds as stupid as bush. Really, does the country want another "southern" president?

You know, this is yet another slam at the democratic party---which Bill and Hillary seem to hold in contempt. First it was Hillary preferring the GOP candidate McCain to a fellow democrat Obama. Then it was Bill emphasizing that it's Hillary and McCain who love their country and are devoted to its interests, Obama was singled out, by omission, as not measuring up to that---Bill was comparing McCain and Hillary, as a patriotic unit, to Obama, and it was compare and contrast, not compare and see the similarity. And now this.
It is almost as if they are spitting, metaphorically, both on the party and at the party. Why?
My guess is that it's because the party didn't roll over, didn't understand the 'inevitability and entitlement' thing. Didn't just GIVE Hillary the nomination.
In one sense, it's like a tantrum.

oh... the funny thing is... today, Obama said either Democrat would be better than John McBomb... then he said we can't get much worse than now, so McBomb would probably be better than Bush (not saying much)...

Hillary jumps all over that saying we shouldn't have a nominee who praises the other team....

HAHAHAHAHA.... I couldn't stop laughing... if I remember correctly, what did she say?
"I am reafy to be president, Sen Mccain is ready to be president... Barak Obama had a speech in 2002..."
WHAT A HYPOCRITE....

This woman is so vile all I can do is laugh at her from here on out!

Yes. And here I think she is trying to be all things to all voters. Those to the right of the democratic party especially, who want her to be tough on terror--and, she seems to think, tough on anyone who attacks Israel.
But I also think, as I just said a moment ago, that her and Bill are sticking the knife into the party. I don't think either one will ever forgive the party for not just handing her the nomination. They think many in the party owe them a great deal. And I think they are stunned that all of the superdelegates didn't just flock to them and right away.
They are pi**ed, in other words.

Bill's statement is correct. And this one implication is also correct - namely that the Democratic scheme for apportioning delegates is arcane, obscure, convoluted and fosters closed-door dealing; the republican process happens to be more transparent and straight forward. Just because we all want Obama to win doesn't mean Bill isn't right once in a while.

I will agree with you to a point... I have always thought our system was chaotic... but it is what it is...

and everytime Hillary finds herself losing, she wants to change the way we do thing... hey, I would love to have winner takes all primaries... and maybe she would be our nominee... but the fact of the matter is, we don't so stop trying to change the rules to favor your losing wife!

I wonder if he spoke out against this system with all of the "unfair caucuses" when he was running and won???

These poeple will do and say anything to get elected!

This is similar to Hillary voting to ban Michigan and Florida's votes because they broke the rules. And then she won there AND needed their votes, and so now she's saying "I wouldn't want to disenfranchise those voters."

Well yeah, not NOW. Now that you NEED them. But back when it was time to vote on it, you had no problem disenfranchising them. Because you didn't think it would ever matter.

Actually, Texas changed my mind. In Texas, with the GOP nomination decided, Limbaugh and others mounted a very successful campaign to get conservative voters to vote for Clinton - with the plan to switch back and vote McCain in the general election. By all accounts this had some impact, although the extent is debated.

These GOP members sure as heck were not going to spend the evening with a bunch of democrats to debate over who should be delegates and such. By the time the process was complete, the GOP partisans' impact was minimized or even eliminated. This seems like a positive.

Each state is a little different, but all and all the Democrats have a system that is WAY harder to rig than the GOP.

So just give nomination to a lady who is 800,000 votes behind in popular vote. Whatever works for Clinton's right?

It'll be a good day in American when the Clintools go away for good and stop torturing the american public with their nonsense. Bill has been an utter disaster this campaign season. Everything he's said is just ridiculously absurd.

And how is she going to do that and keep her credibility? She said his only experience was one speech in 2002. Was she lying? If so, that's bad. Was she telling the truth? If so, how the devil is she going to run around the country saying, "He's your man, vote Obama, ready on day one!!!???
She's trapped and it serves her right.

you crack me up... so here is some advice: when it comes time for the general election, you can pull this map of the electoral college out!!! But you see, when we are primary season, its a whole different set of rules...

But, I guess if you are Clinton, you expect whatever rules that benefit you to be the rules that everyone follows!

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 10:56 PM on 04/21/2008

Yeah and Bill and Hillary Clinton are actually GOP people in disguise. Check out their histories and you'll see they are both actually republicans - in personal wealth and in policies.... They'll both also say and do anything to win.

What's THIS supposed to be about---Hillary would be winning under GOP rules? Which block of voters is this supposed to draw, exactly?

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 10:29 PM on 04/21/2008

You can't tell me that at this point, HRC does not know that she can't win. So, that said, why the hell is she refusing to get out? Today, she let the voters in on her plan. When she play the fear card with her ad today, that spoke volumns. She wants to beat him up so bad by running repug ads and making repug claims against him.

Seriously, I want to know from a HRC supporter, why are you supporting her. Really, I don't understand. Yes, the plans are almost the same, they are far apart on the issues. So, this means that people are voting on personality and who could get the job done.

With that said, why would someone support a candidate of a given party who goes out of their way to hurt the party and a fellow candidate? I don't get. Hillary has proven herself to me to be a liar, mean spirited, cold, phony, power hungry and manipulative.

Can a HRC supporter help me on this? No....really.

no.. unfortunately people are voting on skin color and gender... and I have personally heard people say that!!!

So i guess they'll make up an excuse everytime she loses

Well, the rules were fine when you ran and were fine until now huh Billy?

Thats why we r called the democratic party, every voice should be heard

I would be mad if someone could get the state just because they won by a half a percentage point or so

its proportionate for a reason

Why doesn't she change parties? It would be a win for her, she would be with like- minded people, and a win for us, we wouldn't have to see her or put up with her. She could even win against McInsane for the nomination for the Repugs party, according to her husband's calculations.
To get rid of her! What a blessing this would be for the Democrat party.
