Today's polling indicated a slight upward trend for Senator Hillary Clinton in Pennsylvania, with most numbers tacking above the margin for error. Still, there might be something to the rumors that tomorrow's primary is expected to be a tight contest, and the clearest sign that the Clinton campaign is taking that seriously is that they've released a new thirty-second ad called "Kitchen," which "detail[s] how tough the job of President is...asking voters who they think is ready to step in and handle it." And, hey! Look who makes a cameo appearance! None other than stock footage of Osama bin Laden, presumably on loan from the defunct Giuliani campaign.

And now, for the rebuttal, please welcome President William Jefferson Clinton:

UPDATE: And in a rebuttal to the rebuttal, we have campaign newbie, Geoff Garin, who says: "It states the reason why Hillary Clinton is the right choice to be president now...the premise of this ad and this campaign is that we're at a moment where we need a president who's got the strength and the knowledge to take on very tough challenges...To say that she is the best choice on those things, there's nothing negative about that."

Indeed, the most "positive" thing about the ad may be its efficacy. As Talking Points Memo notes, "Dropping a last-minute bomb in order to sow doubts about Obama among the late-breaking undecideds -- and doing it in the guise of an ad only mentioning Hillary -- worked in Ohio and Texas. Camp Hillary is hoping that the tactic will deliver a second time."

MORE UPDATES: And, so, this little spat escalaltes to "Defcon: OMFG!" From Obama spokesman Bill Burton:

When Senator Clinton voted with President Bush to authorize the war in Iraq, she made a tragically bad decision that diverted our military from the terrorists who attacked us, and allowed Osama bin Laden to escape and regenerate his terrorist network. It's ironic that she would borrow the President's tactics in her own campaign and invoke bin Laden to score political points. We already have a President who plays the politics of fear, and we don't need another.

So, uhm...Hillary Clinton is to blame for Osama bin Laden being at large? Really? That's what you're gonna go with, Burton? Can't wait for this primary contest to end in that bring-the-party-together "Dream" ticket!

UPDATES GALORE: The Obama campaign has produced an ad in response to today's Clinton ad. Man, when this primary is over, just think about how "bitter" all the out-of-work political ad people are going to be!

I think the ad primarily identifies matters that confront Presidents. Slick Hill is up to her old tricks implying that she'd be ready for anything that comes along. Nobody's ready for all of those different challenges, even if they came one at a pace that permitted recuperation before the next challenge. The problem is not the Slick Hill is deceiving others. It's that she's deceiving herself.

I think her add was more hen legitimate, it was reality and It's not fear mongering as Obama would like you o believe, it's an ad to remind all of us whats at stake in this election as well as the what is waiting for the next President. Very appropriate

I could have sworn that was Obama with a beard in that video.

favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 06:55 PM on 04/24/2008

Hillary is GOP. She is a wretched, tortured human who feels as if the Fates tore up her script and now she has to.......she has to..........oh, Gawd! abide by the voters?!?! What kind of system is this?
People can vote AGAINST her? for a minority? Oh Democrats......she thought she knew us.

Quit now or forever be the "goat who ruined the election".. Maybe W will read it as a children's book.

Women that have spent more than a few years on the professional field that support Clinton in the remaining primaries are now NEVER going to switch to Obama.

They've been hearing the same bs for years--that they're not polite enough and need to soften up. This whole, "Clinton is a negative campaigner" is not only going to fall on deaf ears to these women, but it's totally sexist. No person ever running for president has been accused of being negative like Clinton and this is soooo benign of campaign compared to past years. Unless you compare it to Kerry who was too nice and failed. JFK primary was the nastiest one in history. So cut the crap with this negative campaining argument aginst Clinton.

I plan to vote democratic in the GE. I am a woman who has been in my profession for a 25 years. It's incredibly silly for professional woman to vote for "Women should stay in their place(s)" McCain. And voting for Nader is a vote for McCain. Of course, there's the option of not voting. Same result. McCain.

MoreCowBellNow, I love your "name". I loved that cow bell skit on SNL. As for negative ads, I continue to scratch my head on that one. All I can think is that if Obama supporters think recent ads have been "unkind", wait until the G.E. if he makes it as the Democratic nominee. The RNC can be ruthless based on some campaigns in the past. I say stop whining...Most likely these whiners are the first time voters / young voters/ new voters ....That's all I can figure.

Barck Obama was as much in position to vote on the Iraq war as my mailman or a girl serving coffee at Starbucks...now he is saying " I wouldn't have voted for it". He has no idea how he would have actually voted if he were actually in the Senate at the time. He saw no intelligence information while in the Illinois state senate. This guy is a joke. I was kind of for him at first but now time has exposed too much about this fraud. Electing this guy president is like going to Las vegas and rolling dice on a craps table.

You know, toby25, that's what I was thinking but I wasn't sure if I had it right in my head cuz I couldn't understand that his claim was not spelled out as you did in this blog. Why hasn't the media run with this one in past if that was the case....oh, I forgot ...they were on a Honeymoon with Mr. Obama. If this is the case I can't imagine how many Obama supporters were going under another assumption re: this with Obama. Thanks for the post!

favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 02:03 AM on 04/25/2008

John Edwards and Joe Biden also voted as Hillary did on the war in Iraq 2002...............you know the year Obama was just talking about his thoughts on the war

favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 03:01 AM on 04/24/2008

Wasn't Hillary just lying, yet again, the other day, that she was against the before Obama was. That's interesting, since she decided to vote to send our troop to war, WITHOUT reading the report. Seems Hillary is either just a liar, or both a liar, and schizophrenic. Either way she had the report to read, and a husband (who we all know she is riding his coattails to win), and STILL Hillary made the wrong decision!! A wrong decision which cost over 3000 US soldiers their lives, and diverted much needed soldiers from the war in Afghanistan. So not only did Bin Laden probably escape Afghanistan, but our military is depleted, our allies, including Britian, have taken their troops out of iraq, and soon our soldiers will be fighting this seemingly never ending war on their own. The fact is that if Hillary had been president and not BUSH, she would have wanted to go to war in Iraq. The fact is if Obama had been president and not BUSH, he would NOT have gone to war in Iraq. Obama would have sent more troops after Bin Laden in Afghanistan.

I loved Baracks ad where he plays it like he actually voted in 2002..when he was actually pandering to liberals in a given area to get another term in the state senate. For the record and for those actually qualified to vote (Barack is excluded as he was not a US senator) John Kerry, Chris Dodd, Tom Daschle, Nelson.....all Obama endorsers voted exactly as Hillary did on the war in Iraq 2002. Obama had stated in hs book Audacity of Hope...that had he been a senator (he was not) and had he had intelligence reports( he did not) he may have voted as they did................so he is a real hypocrit and will say anything to make Hillary look bad! . he has voted exactly as Hillary has since becoming a senator which wasn't til Jan of 2005.....the only vote difference was to confirm some general...Obama voted to confirm...Hillary didn't want the general...Oh on that 2002 war vote Biden and John Edwards also voted as Hillary did

I don't think that was scare tactics at all, we are in war, I know it doesn't effect most of you , but recounting the past years and years back and up to the present is not playing the fear card at all, I thought it was a great ad

Dear Mr. Bill Burton,
Can you explain to me why you think that Sen Cinton is to blame for Osama Bin Laden still being 'free and 'at large'?

Sen Obama has taken on board as foreign policy advisor-Dr Susan Rice.
Dr Susan Rice , a 1986 Stanford graduate and Rhodes scholar with a doctorate from Oxford University has been accused of being MAJOR reason why Osama Bin Laden was able to carry out terror attacks on 9/11. She convinced US govt not to accept Sudan offer to turn over Bin Laden to US in 1997 despite convincing arguments to the contrary provided to her by other US and foreign officials friendly to the US. .

People you do realize that 9/11 was being planned while BILL CLINTON was president,
In 1993, the first World Trade Center bombing killed six people.
In 1998, the bombing of two U.S. embassies in Africa killed 224.
Both were the work of Al-Qaida and Bin Laden, who in 1998 declared holy war on America.
In 1998, President Clinton announced, "We will use all the means at our disposal to bring those responsible to justice, no matter what or how long it takes." BUT THAT NEVER HAPPENED!!!
But like a Democratic member of the 9/11 commission says in 200, "The Clinton administration treated bin Laden as a law enforcement problem"--- POOR JUDGEMENT Y BILL CLINTON
One Clinton Cabinet official said, looking back, the military should have been more involved, "We did a lot, but we did not see the gathering storm that was out there." BILL WAS TOO BUZY WITH SCANDALS (MONICA LEWINSKY, PAULA JONES, WHITEWATER, AND TRAVELGATE, ECT...")

An Ad using Bin Laden, is appalling. Shame on you Hillary, for giving him more media attention I am sure he is thanking you for the coverage right about now. Terriorist have killed so many innocent people all around the world whom she cannot protect, even if she were to become president. For her to make light of the horror Bin Laden and his organization has cause is outrageous. She can no more protect this country from him then anyone else can as President. Whoever gets the Presidency will have the same resources available to them to safeguard this country as she would have. And her decision to obliterate Iran just reinforces that fact that she has bad judgement. Bin Laden is still at large with several countries looking for him as well as this one. He has not be found. Hillary is instilling fear in to the American people just to win a nomination. Shameful. Families are losing their loved ones in a war everyday. This country is excited about change for our country and she wants to instill fear in the voters. I thought she had reach the lowest of the low's, I was wrong for now she has gone beyond that.

Has Osama switchedhis support frm Bus to Clinton? I missed that one. I guess he has fond recolections of the Clinton years and longs for the return of Bill to the White House.

Osama will have less to worry about with a Clinton White House.

Randi Rhodes just pointed out that the "Osama" ad left out most things that occurred when her husband was in charge. USS Cole, first bombing of WTC, Oklahoma bombing, Waco, Embassy bombing in Kenya.
If its all about who's ready, why didn't she mentioned what her husband did.

favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 05:25 PM on 04/22/2008

She should switch parties

favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 02:25 PM on 04/22/2008

Wow, just when you think Hillary couldn't sink any lower, she panders to the same scared old ladies that have supported her all along, while kissing up to the Zionist vote by assuring us that she would annihilate Iran if given the opportunity! Sweet Mother of Mercy, save us!

favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 02:20 PM on 04/22/2008

Goldwater Girl backed off her previous commitment that she would annihilate Iran if they so much as touched a hair on the head of any Israeli. "She" of course meaning she likes Bush's destruction of the constitution, likes the idea that the president can start wars without Congress. But she backed off anyway, apparently realizing that not everyone had been a Goldwater Girl. So she clarified her statement by saying that if Iran nuked Israel, she would nuke Iran.

Why? Why would she expose the people of the U.S. to nuclear attack because Iran nuked Israel? This woman is either deranged or her talking points are being written by Mossad. Need I mention that I personally have no interest in having the U.S. nuke anyone? Israel has hundreds of nuclear weapons, and they can nuke Iran if they want. Iran has no nuclear weapons, but if they get them, maybe Israel better be less belligerant in its dealings with its neighbors.

Personally, I am horrified at hearing any candidate throw around the idea of starting a nuclear war based upon somebody else's fight in another land, in another country. Israel has told everyone to blank off, has rejected peace and amassed a nuclear arsenal. Let them live with the consequences. U.S. Out of Israel.

Actually, since all of the "frontrunner" NWO puppets are already aware of who has won the upcoming "election", of who the "appointed/anointed" one is, they all deserve a rousing round of applause for being such fine actors, and for expending enormous quantities of energy on this charade keeping us "peasants" in suspense and highly amused, don't you think?

If the polls are true (I have just as much confidence in polls as I do Diebold), then what are the good people of Pennsylvania thinking buying this good old republican fear mongering tactic. Billary has shown her true colors through out her campaign but as her numbers start to fade she is becoming even more despicable. I prefered the crocodile tears better.

favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 11:22 AM on 04/22/2008

What's the problem? Clinton voted to authorize the invasion of Iraq, which sucked away men, machines, and money from Afghanistan where we might otherwise have succeeded in completing our stated mission.

Bill Burton isn't suggesting that Hillary Clinton is personally and directly to blame; what he's suggesting is that she was a part of the decision-making process that led to our military failures.

Ergo, she would be an incapable leader.

It's not complicated, people.

Yeah Bill made Bin Laden do what he did. And then he sabotaged the economy to crash just in the middle of George Bush's administration. And Carter ruined the whole Middle East Peace Plan the other day. God! We were this close and he just threw it all away!

Yeah but will Hillary take on Sasquatch? I bet she's scared of him.

Sasquatch would probably kick Hillary's butt.

Unless you nuke him. Maybe we should get a statement from Hillary that yes she would nuke Sasquatch (massively dont forget!) if he suddenly goes berserk.

Would she castrate Bill? Hold on now. I'm not kidding. What if Bill's penis got out of hand?

Would Hillary protect the female youth of the Democratic Party?

I think these are the kind of tough questions we need to ask Hillary.
