Obama would bomb Pakistan and Hillary would "obliterate" Iran.

Agreed, Sunzen.

The border regions of Pakistan are not even under the control of the Pakistani government. All Obama suggested ( and rightfully so) is that Osama should not be allowed refuge there. We went into Afghanistan after him, we OUGHT to follow into the uncontrolled border regions, where thousands of al qeada and taliban are currently hiding and plotting against and attacking the US in Afghanistan's, Iraq, and at home.

There is FAR MORE of a moral imperative to go after those groups there than we EVER had to go into Iraq, and certainly Iran.

All the government of Iran has to do is to disavow sponsoring Hizbullah and other terrorist groups, stop threatening to annihilate Israel, open dialogue with Israel, and seek to behave like rational nations should. Then the question of a US response wouldn't even come up, now, would it? Maybe the Iranian public could start by voting out the Islamic theocracy that is getting their nation into danger? Funny how so many of my fellow "leftists" will gladly pander to the worst dictators and thuggish regimes, yet salivate over the destruction of the only liberal democracy in the Middle East--Israel. Interesting. I wonder why?

I am glad you have the arrogance to tell a country half way around the world what they should do OR ELSE we will competely destroy you with our nuclear weapons...You must sense the insanity in your argument....

I said no such thing. And the statements of Iran's ruling theocrats is a matter of public record...Ahmadinejad's Holocaust denial, his vows to erase Israel from the map...is that not 'arrogance'? And does your response to me not reveal a certain bias?

Maybe the world would be more peaceful if the U.S. would butt out of everyone's business around the world. Maybe we should stop supplying nuclear weapons to Belgium, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, and Turkey. Maybe we should stop invading countries for oil. We are the thuggish regime.

Remove your Zionist glasses and you'll se the truth of this plainly enough; WE, the US, do not want to HEAR those words, and do everything possible to ensure that such statements would be discredited if they were uttered by Iranian leaders.

Despite the best multiple efforts to refute the "Annihilate Israel" statements attributed to Iran, the US & Zionist Israelis give no credence to denial of this sentiment; even when our own NIE reports that their is no nuclear threat, NeoCons [which I am now convinced includes moronic centrist democrats] grow even more rabid and spew nonsense about attacking Iran when no justification exists.

NeoConservatives are salivating for a war with Iran; sane liberal democrats wish to do all possible to avoid such a needless action.

Unfortunately, there are only two sides to this, and the fault for that lies with the warmongers among us.

Choose.

I am sorry ZenJu, but I feel the need to commit a copywrite infraction for your perusal and consideration.

To paraphrase your statement:

“All the government of (America) has to do is to disavow sponsoring (Bin-Laden, The School of Americas) and other terrorist groups, stop threatening to annihilate (Iran), open dialogue with (Iran) and seek to behave like rational nations should. Then the question of a US response wouldn't even come up, now, would it? Maybe the (American) public could start by voting out the (Fundamental Christian) theocracy that is getting their nation into danger? Funny how so many of my fellow (Rightists) will gladly pander to the worst dictators and thuggish regimes, yet salivate over the destruction of the only (country apart never to have been involved in or started any war of aggression) in the Middle East—(Iran) Interesting. I wonder why?”

According to the United States Code:
1) the term "international terrorism" means terrorism involving citizens or the territory of more than one country;
(2) the term "terrorism" means premeditated, politically motivated violence perpetrated against non-combatant targets by subnational groups or clandestine agents; and
(3) the term "terrorist group" means any group practicing, or which has significant subgroups which practice, international terrorism.[1]

Israel can hardly be described as a "liberal democracy". It is as theocractic as Iran, just a different religion. People get hassled there for not being orthodox enough; is that rational? ....or "re-possessing" land that they state was given to them centuries ago and is "rightfully" theirs? Liberal democracy....what a load!

If you good people are all so concerned about poor Iran, then perhaps you should work to bring about a sane leadership of that country? And if Iran doesn't want to face retaliation, then perhaps the Iranians would be best served by working for true peace with Israel and the Arab world? No one twists the Iranian leadership's arms to work on nukes and utter bloodcurdling threats, now do they? Can any one of you remember the blatantly anti-Semitic remarks of Ahmedinejad, his threats to wipe Israel off the map? Are you sincerely that naive or blind or deaf? Unlike the vast majority of you all, I have LIVED in Israel, in that part of the world. Israel is a liberal democracy in a very bad neighbourhood. If you like such things as women's rights, the rights of minorities, religious freedom, freedom of speech, the right to be secular...well, you get the idea...then your sympathies SHOULD be with Israel. I hope that the Iranian people will overthrow their theocratic, backward, hate-filled regime and join Israel in making a better world one day.

your remarks are a screaming example of the Big Lie.
Israel has ONE ally..........One Country who watches the slaughter of innocents.
I guess since your house was passed over (again), you feel empowered to tell America how to view Israeli agression. (with devine blessing)
Israel needs a black eye to calm them down............and Jews as much as Muslims and Christians need to evolve.

I simply mean that Iran, like any other country, is free to make CHOICES. I think nuclear weapons are an abomination...but they're here and more countries want them; we have to deal with this sick reality. Iran wants them AND is lead by a nutjob whose anti-Israel/anti-Semitic rhetoric would do Goebbels proud. Their government (the theocracy in charge) needs to know, in no uncertain terms, the consequences of taking those threats of theirs seriously. In many ways, Israel is like Will Smith's character in "I Am Legend," daily facing raving irrationality and bloodthirsty neighbours. When faced with overwhelming numbers who are motivated to kill you, a credible deterrent is essential.

Israel who I believe have the right to defend themselves have to stop their aggression against the innocent people of Palestine, there is no excuse for Hamas or Hezbellah, but what about the rights of those who have no voice and are much the victims in a terrible neighborhood. Threatening annihilation against any country whether it be Israel or Iran won't solve any of the problems that exists! What we need are leaders who aren't afraid of direct dialect with those nations who make threats, but perhaps make threats for direct dialect?

And how did it come about, that Israel is in this neigborhood? The land that Israel occupies, was Arab land until 1947.With 32% of the population the Jews got 56% of the Palestinian land. This was forced onto the Palestinians by the UN General Assembly Resolution 181. I wonder why the Palestinians have a bad taste in their mouths? Maybe the U.N. General Assembly should give Mexico half of the U.S. Did I hear a grumble?

Actually the land that is now Israel is not "Arab" land as you’re defining it. If you go back far enough in history, that area was settled by the Jews when they fled Egypt, as such they have just as much claim to it as the "Palestinians." But I digress...

At any rate, the British mandate that created Israel also created an Arab state that is now modern day Jordan. If you bother to study geography, you’ll notice that Jordan is a hell of a lot bigger than Israel. So your argument that the Jews got 50% of Palestinian land is fallacious, but continues to propagate through people like yourself because of ignorance and intellectual laziness. Rather than shilling for the Palestinians you should be asking why they didn’t assimilate into the state of Jordan as was the intent when the land was divided under the British mandate. Why is it, that to this date "Palestinians" have not assimilated anywhere in the Middle East? Why have their Arab brothers not taken them in? I place Palestinian in quotations because even that term is something of a canard...but that is best left to another post.

There is a problem with this question:

IRAN DOES NOT HAVE NUCLEAR WEAPONS.

WTF?!? Why would Israel possibly seek confrontation with Iran? Your statement is th epitome of ignorance. Israel is a TINY, TINY nation and quite vulnerable; Iran has sufficient territory and population to easily survive an Israeli attack. Israel has consistently sought peace and has PROVEN its willingness to make peace when a genuine offer has been made (e.g., Sadat's Egypt). Israel WANTS peace. Why does Israel have nukes? The program started in the mid-1950s, when Israel (two million citizens!) was confronted by 150 million Arabs calling for its destruction. A credible nuclear deterrent was the only way Israel's government saw to offset the sheer numbers. Note that Israel has never used its nukes, by the way. Also note the sickening anti-Semitic, anti-Israel rhetoric and gross cartoon propaganda in the Arab/Islamic world until this very day. Note that Israel's Arab minority has grown and flourished and that Israeli Arab women have more rights and can vote. Note that gays can live openly in Israel. Note that Israel is a multi-cultural society, a democracy. Such a society has no interest in "attacking Iran."

Clinton and Liberman. Now there would be a good ticket. We could wipe out the Middle East in no time.

Why are only people with a child's mind allowed to run for office? McCain is going into his second childhood. Is there noone with any brains and integrity willing to run for any office?

Didn't we have enough macho-cowboy talk from Bush 43? Such aggressive sabre-rattling will surely animate Iran to arm itself with nuclear weapons as soon as it can. Is Hillary trying to compete with McCain in giving us a third term of ballsy Bush. Let's have a thinker in the White House for a change!
