Clinton On Iran Attack: "Totally Obliterate Them"

Clinton further displayed tough talk in an interview airing on Good Morning America Tuesday, ABC News' Chris Cuomo asked Clinton what she would do if Iran attacked Israel with nuclear weapons.

"I want the Iranians to know that if I'm the president we will attack Iran," Clinton said. "In the next ten years, during which they might foolishly consider launching an attack on Israel, we would be able to totally obliterate them."

Isn't this PRECISELY the attitude we're trying to get away from? When Hillary speaks so glibly about "Iran" and "Israel" what she's really referring to is the innocent populations of these countries. She's saying that if the leaders of Iran slaughtered the innocent citizens of Israel, she would retaliate by slaughtering the innocent citizens of Iran. Civilians as pawns. This is PRECISELY why she can't be allowed into the Oval Office.

Israel will definitely be an all around asset to U.S. No question. The problem is that the religious right in Israel has held everybody hostage to the idea that the 'holy land' belongs to them and the idea of a "Jewish State" is sacrosanct.

Once again, we are being held hostage to pieces of earth that people choose to assign arbitrary meaning to and kill and maim their fellow human beings in order to defend their biblical claims. Why, we, here in the U.S., the most advanced country on the face of the planet give any credence to such superstition is beyond me?

This is the same Hillary who once chided Obama for lacking foreign policy gravitas when he suggested a targeted strike against bin Laden in Pakistan if there were actionable intelligence about his whereabouts there?
It's hard to imagine anything more amateurish and utterly lacking in any kind of statesmanship than Clinton's bellicose, pandering rhetoric about "obliterating" Iran, which is clearly not a gaffe under pressure of the moment during the lowbrow ABC debate last week, since she is shopping it around on Good Morning America, as well. Her language was obscenely reckless enough during the ABC debate, but it reaches a kind of Doctor Strangeglovian insanity on GMA, as if she were channeling General Jack D. Ripper or something. If the transcript of her quote is accurate in the ABC article, if she really said "I want the Iranians to know that if I'm the president, we will attack Iran...we would be able to totally obliterate them," almost as if she looks forward to the prospect, this is language more suitable for WWE "pro wrestling" than for a statesman or president. As Susan Jacoby has argued, I know the level of our political discourse has been dumbed down to the WWE level of puerility, but after these insane remarks I have doubts Hillary should be returned to the Senate, much less elected President.

Do most people know that even though Iran is a large exporter of oil; they are also the second largest importer of gasoline. Because of the technological embargo we've placed on them they can not develop or improve their own refineries. This is added to the fact that the government heavily subsidies gas in order to keep the price low for the citizenry and guess as a way to share in the wealth. Now more Iranians want to drive cars , trucks and other vehicles with combustion engines. They also use refined gas there source of electricity .

Isn't is possible that Iran really needs nuclear power just to supply the energy that it's populace demands.?

It is said that if you want to bring Iran to it's knees, all you have to do is a conventional weapons attack on it's existing oil refineries.
