Michael Moore endorses Obama in a commentary on his site:

[O]ver the past two months, the actions and words of Hillary Clinton have gone from being merely disappointing to downright disgusting. I guess the debate last week was the final straw. I've watched Senator Clinton and her husband play this game of appealing to the worst side of white people, but last Wednesday, when she hurled the name "Farrakhan" out of nowhere, well that's when the silly season came to an early end for me. She said the "F" word to scare white people, pure and simple. Of course, Obama has no connection to Farrakhan. But, according to Senator Clinton, Obama's pastor does -- AND the "church bulletin" once included a Los Angeles Times op-ed from some guy with Hamas! No, not the church bulletin!

This sleazy attempt to smear Obama was brilliantly explained the following night by Stephen Colbert. He pointed out that if Obama is supported by Ted Kennedy, who is Catholic, and the Catholic Church is led by a Pope who was in the Hitler Youth, that can mean only one thing: OBAMA LOVES HITLER!

Yes, Senator Clinton, that's how you sounded. Like you were nuts. Like you were a bigot stoking the fires of stupidity. How sad that I would ever have to write those words about you. You have devoted your life to good causes and good deeds. And now to throw it all away for an office you can't win unless you smear the black man so much that the superdelegates cry "Uncle (Tom)" and give it all to you.

But that can't happen. You cast your die when you voted to start this bloody war. When you did that you were like Moses who lost it for a moment and, because of that, was prohibited from entering the Promised Land.

How sad for a country that wanted to see the first woman elected to the White House. That day will come -- but it won't be you. We'll have to wait for the current Democratic governor of Kansas to run in 2016 (you read it here first!).

There are those who say Obama isn't ready, or he's voted wrong on this or that. But that's looking at the trees and not the forest. What we are witnessing is not just a candidate but a profound, massive public movement for change. My endorsement is more for Obama The Movement than it is for Obama the candidate.

That is not to take anything away from this exceptional man. But what's going on is bigger than him at this point, and that's a good thing for the country. Because, when he wins in November, that Obama Movement is going to have to stay alert and active. Corporate America is not going to give up their hold on our government just because we say so. President Obama is going to need a nation of millions to stand behind him.

Very sad that Hillary has adopted those tactics she tried to use against Senator Obama. During the so-called debates Senator Obama could have needled her on the Bosnia lie ,instead he actually helped her out . But the first chance she got she hammered him .

Honestly I don't get how any reader of this blog can support ANY politician who voted for this disastrous WAR.

It's really not more complicated than that.

Then by that logic, MoveOn.org and Michael Moore should be endorsing Ron Paul since he has never supported a war, promises to take us out of Iraq on his first day as President, and never engage militarily in other countries. I am all for peace, but there are other issues beyond Iraq.

Fair point but I think you missed it (or I made it poorly): Sure there are other issues (goodness knows - and many are being ignored by the centrist Democrats themselves).

What I am saying is that Clinton's vote to support the war is an instant disqualification for anyone who considers themselves a progressive.

I mean there were half a million protesters in DC before that vote who knew there were no WMDs because we were listening to the weapons inspectors and reading blogs, which were covering the story well-beyond the drum-beating on cable news.

And she didn't know this? C'mon. She voted for the war because she lacked the political courage not to.

Amen, Mr. Moore. You've just expressed what has been my feelings exactly since I first witnessed Obama in person here in SC & then helped hand him win a landslide the next day here in the good old Deep South...

I wished every southerner felt that way, Mr Everreader. But unfortunately, Obama will have his problems vying for the white southern vote. These one-toothed rednecks voted for President Bush twice cause he gave the impression that he was the one they would feel more comfortable drinking a beer with. The rest of us had to suffer the consequences. We all know that they dont vote on the issues except if it has to do with taking away their gun racks. I am looking forward to Obama trouncing Bomb Bomb John in the general election, but we need help from the south as well.

SC is one so-called red state where, if everyone gets out and votes, the status quo can go way haywire. I'll NEVER forget the night the Democratic candidate, Jim Hodges won against what should have been a shoo-in, incumbent Republican, David Beasley. I'm not especially proud of the issues that did Beasley in, the Confederate flag and video poker/lottery or some such nonsense. But it was one amazing night. I don't see any reason why Obama wouldn't win the popular vote come November.

The way the crazy electoral system works, I'm not sure if they're mandated to send him their electoral votes too. But it's definitely an interesting time to be watching all this...
