Michael Moore endorses Obama in a commentary on his site:

[O]ver the past two months, the actions and words of Hillary Clinton have gone from being merely disappointing to downright disgusting. I guess the debate last week was the final straw. I've watched Senator Clinton and her husband play this game of appealing to the worst side of white people, but last Wednesday, when she hurled the name "Farrakhan" out of nowhere, well that's when the silly season came to an early end for me. She said the "F" word to scare white people, pure and simple. Of course, Obama has no connection to Farrakhan. But, according to Senator Clinton, Obama's pastor does -- AND the "church bulletin" once included a Los Angeles Times op-ed from some guy with Hamas! No, not the church bulletin!

This sleazy attempt to smear Obama was brilliantly explained the following night by Stephen Colbert. He pointed out that if Obama is supported by Ted Kennedy, who is Catholic, and the Catholic Church is led by a Pope who was in the Hitler Youth, that can mean only one thing: OBAMA LOVES HITLER!

Yes, Senator Clinton, that's how you sounded. Like you were nuts. Like you were a bigot stoking the fires of stupidity. How sad that I would ever have to write those words about you. You have devoted your life to good causes and good deeds. And now to throw it all away for an office you can't win unless you smear the black man so much that the superdelegates cry "Uncle (Tom)" and give it all to you.

But that can't happen. You cast your die when you voted to start this bloody war. When you did that you were like Moses who lost it for a moment and, because of that, was prohibited from entering the Promised Land.

How sad for a country that wanted to see the first woman elected to the White House. That day will come -- but it won't be you. We'll have to wait for the current Democratic governor of Kansas to run in 2016 (you read it here first!).

There are those who say Obama isn't ready, or he's voted wrong on this or that. But that's looking at the trees and not the forest. What we are witnessing is not just a candidate but a profound, massive public movement for change. My endorsement is more for Obama The Movement than it is for Obama the candidate.

That is not to take anything away from this exceptional man. But what's going on is bigger than him at this point, and that's a good thing for the country. Because, when he wins in November, that Obama Movement is going to have to stay alert and active. Corporate America is not going to give up their hold on our government just because we say so. President Obama is going to need a nation of millions to stand behind him.

Those 2 states were stupid to move their dates. Here in Florida it was only progressive radio that was having a hissy fit over it. No one else cared. And I never saw an op-ed from anyone about it. There were no protests anywhere. People went to the polls because there was a property tax item. The republicans played it just right. Everyone played along including Hillary, she said those votes won't count. She also said all the little states don't count. She also said the caucuses were not democratic. She also said that the nominee would not be legitimate if those 2 states votes weren't counted.

The only thing is she said all this after she was LOSING. If she had been ahead she wouldn't have uttered a word. That is sick and twisted. All those contests Obama won in a row, she never even acknowledged the voters who went out to vote for her in cold and icy weather. Today she is saying to grab people and drag them to the polls. If people don't realize that this woman cares about nothing except her quest for power than they deserve another republican administration.

Hillary should have stacked the deck in her favor before she threw her hat in the ring. She should have pushed a bill thru outlawing caucuses or maybe she should have run a better campaign. Or maybe she thought having the big money machine was all she needed. She forgot about the PEOPLE.

That is just great Mr. Moore:

I will never forget how your support for Nader against Al Gore, essentually put Bush in the white house. Maybe you made a mistake, but problem is you Mr. Moore, never as much admitted that your endorsement may have cost Gore the election. Even when polls indicated that Nader was having an eroding effect on Gore's popular support, by drawing votes away from Gore, thereby helping Bush, you never waivered and never asked Nader that maybe he should drop out. Nader had no chance to win the national election in 2000. It was quite obvious to anyone that Nader was helping Bush get elected, and even Republicans backed Nader and gave him money, for that reason. But Mr. Moore in his contempt of logic, egotistical pandering, moral failure, and improper judgment for doing the right thing, ended up splitting key votes which would have made Gore the winner. I waited for Moore to discuss this, to explain, to say he should of seen the writing on the wall. But no, just as Nader did not own up to it, neither did Moore.

Look out, because Moore may not be on your side Democrats, if history has any teaching to do.

Let's all remember that it wasn't votes for Nader that put Bush in the White House. In reality, Gore won the election in 2000 (as did Kerry in 2004), but there was substantial election fraud in Florida, and the Supreme Court essentially handed Bush the presidency. There is much available information on the topic of the election irregularities in each of those two elections. Robert Kennedy, Jr., did an amazing piece on the Ohio irregularities that appeared in Rolling Stone a couple of years ago. And the topic of the Florida election irregularities of 2004 was discussed as recently as today, the 21st, on Thom Hartmann's radio program. And we can't let our enthusiasm for either of the two democratic candidates allow us to think that there will not be an attempt in November of this year.

Just like Obama and his supporters are going to put McCain in the White House.

they already set it up, and Dean took it, hook line and sinker...

Attempt? They already set the stage for what is a major blunder of the democratic national party. republicans moved the primary, not the people and individuals of florida, but the democrates punished the voters for the mistakes of the party elders, and Dean led the pack. The democrates have managed to alienate and throw florida away, and the result will be a real loss of florida in november. Rove could not have done it better, and Dean was a failure.

And Moore learned from his mistake in 2000 and begged Nader on his knees on Real Time with Bill Maher to withdraw before the 2004 election. Nader didn't listen.
Moore has been right in his documentaries. His points are made with humor.
His truths are inconvenient, but still true.
There is no real universal health care without eliminating the insurance company middle men.
A single party payer system would be welcomed by most doctor's offices because of the 40% overhead costs they are paying now just dealing with the 200+ payers who are in the business of denying claims and distracting the docs from doing their jobs, waiting for permission from insurance company staffers to treat their patients.
Time to wake up America and join the other civilized nations who treat their citizens like human beings instead of proles.

1988 was a wonderful year. We hadn't elected a Bush and we hadn't elected a Clinton. With the fall of the Berlin Wall to occur in the next occupant's term, we would soon have a chance to forge a coherent American foreign policy. So, let us learn from 1988. Not as the simpleton above with a death wish to repeat the mistakes of the past, but rather to recognize that continuing with the failed policies of a clueless Republican President is a suicide pact.

Wow, lots of MM comments. He certainly is a lightning rod.

In any case, Hill's concept of universal health care is in direct opposition to Moore's.

Hillary's universal health scare scam is to mandate that the entire US population sign on with HMOs and other insurance and health service middlemen operations. This will increase the profits of those private companies that are already sucking us dry. Who are these fools that view such a corporation benefiting policy as enlightened. It is just promoting the raptor capitalist interests and will feed on the crumbs left behind.

No health care is going to work without a single payer govt agency. Period. That is the reality - so long as insurance companies are in it to make a profit, there will be no such thing as univeral health care no matter what Clinton or Obama say.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 10:46 PM on 04/21/2008

That is total BS. Government run health care doesn't work. Want proof? The VA (Veterans Administration) told me today that the soonest my doctor could see me is in mid June. (It has been this way during both Democrat and Republican Administrations). My own doctor can see me tomorrow.

Do you really think that the American people want that level of healthcare?
It has failed in Canada and England. Do you really think it will work here?

I agree with Aleka 4. I know that there are people out there that talk about incremental movements toward a universal single payer program, one in which we would start out with a plan similar to those of Clinton or Obama. But it's time we just aimed for the whole enchilada and gave the people of this country what they need and deserve - true universal health care, provided by a single payer government program. Medicare for everyone!

I admired Michael for his courage and daring in taking on the government, NRA, corporations and health care; and showing us what they've done to our country. I was at the verge of switching my allegiance from Clinton to Obama and then the Wright tapes were leaked by McCain's campaign.

I am astounded that Michael, a critical thinker who pretty much blamed 9-11 on the Bush administration supports a candidate whose preacher decried that my country was attacked on 9/11 because of some kind of karmic payback. SHAME ON YOU MICHAEL! I know people who died at the WTC. It seems that a lot of you have forgotten 9-11. It's burned in my New York soul and memory. In Obama's "rousing," speech on racism a couple of days after the tapes were leaked, he rambled on about how he could not disown his racist pastor. Obama is a coward. He will not be much of an effective leader if he cannot stand up for what he believes in.
I also don't like Obama because of his arrogance and condescending tone. I'm a minority, moderate liberal, an Ivy League graduate, and a successful business person. I cannot stand his "I'm smart and you're bitter if you don't support me," and "I am free of any political baggage." All lies! He’s no better than those who he trashes. If he were to admit to that, and take it down a few notches then I'll vote for him.

You are spouting MSM talking points verbatim ----even a high school student could have figured out the truth of these issues you claim to be so disturbed by. I am a freaking art school graduate and I didn't even have to have what he said spelled out for me to "get" what he said - yet somehow YOU, the "ivy league" "minority" somehow manage to be offended by references to blacks and less educated?

LMAO. I wasn't born yesterday.

I'm sorry, AMartin...as rousing as your little speech was, it still doesn't sit well with me. Quite frankly, ...it was "Karmic payback" that the WTC was dropped. What would you call it? As of yet, no one has dropped Taipei 101. Or Petronas Towers. Or the needle in Toronto. Why? Because the fundamentalists don't have a desire to "retaliate" against Taiwan, Kuala Lumpur, or even Canada. No one from those countries authorized airstrikes against Iraq for 10 years like Clinton did, bombed baby milk factories (also Clinton), or invaded sovereign nations as Bush did with Iraq and Afghanistan. Your premise stinks. Man up and admit we have a lot to be beholden to in this country. It is what it is. To chastise Rev. Wright for speaking his mind just shows how backwards you are in reference to free speech in America, how blinded by personal issues you are. I also live in New York, and I feel your pain...but for you to criticize Obama for things his Pastor may or may not have said in an open forum is silly. And for you to call Obama a coward...a man who is running for President AT THE PERIL OF BEING....I won't even say it...but for you to say he's a coward is incredibly low class. You are an undercover Hillary plant, at best...an insensitive person at worst. I am not voting for Rev. Wright for President. In my book, the arrogant one is you.

I think Michael, a critical thinker, realized that you can't hold every politician accountable for what everyone who surrounds them says. At the end of the day, I know that Obama is a politician, but the America that he described during his 2004 convention speech- is the one that I want to pass on to my children. THAT in itself- is reason to realize that the Wright controversy is little more than a manufactured distraction. I don't think you'rw dumb/ bitter if you don't support him- you're entitled to your choice, this is a democracy after all. I can only hope that the end of the day you judge him on his positions, on his vision- he's trying to stick up for us all, and unite us. Ultimately- if anything he says is to ever come into fruition, we have to each get out of our own way- laying aside our individual biases and cynacism to come together. Perhaps it sounds corny, perhaps I'm delusional cause all of that kool-aide...

you sure don't sound like a real New Yorker to me. I was working at the UN on 41st and 1st when 9/11 happened, so by your criteria my opinion should count for something. as an intellectual, I have no problem accepting that 9/11 was a combination of blowback and indeological fanaticism run amok. of course there are people out there in the world who are mad at the US because of things our country has done in the past! why is this even up for debate? it is a completely un-contestable statement. and observing it as such does not excuse the inexcusable actions of al Qaeda. its just part of the picture. my World Politics professor in school, Eqbal Ahmed, taught our class about bin Laden back in the mid-90's. 'he's going to go after you, he's going to do a lot more' he told us. I'm much more upset about the Republicans who were wilfully ignorant about the situation and left NYC and DC open and vulnerable to attack, which was Moore's point in F 9/11. again, completely correct. you're voting priorities, I've got to say, seem pretty weird to me.

Does anyone else realize that McCain has to have people like Joe Libermann following him around whispering the answers to questions in his ear. He knows NOTHING about the economy, said that himself. He has said he is NOT going to do anything to change the trade deals wth China, with Mexico, or with Canada. McCain will be leaving everything just as it is!!
5 years in, and McCain still does NOT know anything about the warring tribes in Iraq, the sunnis and the shittes. He does not even know the facts about Iran, he has shown himself to be clueless about it all, over, and over, so much so that McCain has had to have a fellow senator whisper the right anwers to the questions in his ear. ON THE TWO LARGEST ISSUES FACING THIS COUNTRY (ECONOMY, AND THE WAR), JOHN McCAIN HAS SAID, AND HAS PROVEN HE KNOWS NOTHING ABOUT THEM. WHY THE HELL WOULD ANYONE WANT TO PUT THIS OLD UNEDUCATED MAN INTO THE WHITEHOUSE ????
Add to THIS the fact that McCain is almost 80 years old, on the verge of alzheimers, and has a TERRIBLE temper.
McCain is the WORST choice, he had years and years to learn about the economy, and he HAS NOT. He had 5 years to learn about the Iraq war, and he HAS NOT!!! We cannot have a president who has to get answers whispered into his ear by others, because he doesn't know what the hell he is doing.

Moore, who says Americans who live in white neighborhoods are racist, has lived for the past seven years in a waterfront home in Central Lake, Mich., a community of 2,600 residents.
