President Bush made a cameo on NBC's Deal or No Deal on Monday to cheer on a U.S. veteran who had done three tours in Iraq (as Howie Mandell pointed out, one of them was involuntary, thanks to Bush's 'stop loss' policy).

Bush thanked the contestant for his service in Iraq, and joked about his own low approval numbers. "I'm thrilled to be on Deal or No Deal' with you tonight," Bush said. "Come to think of it, I'm thrilled to be anywhere with high ratings these days."

It seems the closer he gets to the end, the happier he is. I would say that applies to the people as well but unfortunately the people losing loved ones in his unprovoked war, the people losing their houses or jobs thanks to his policies aren't so happy. As others have said on here, Bush, Cheney, etc. really DO NOT care about the pain they have caused. There have been other presidents who made mistakes or were incompetent like LBJ, but some of them at least felt responsible and maybe even felt some guilt over what they had done. Not these guys or their corporate brethern at places like Raytheon or in the media or think tanks. They truly don't give a shit about the soldiers who have died or been maimed or about average people losing their jobs. It's hard for compassionate people to understand that kind of person. But there are truly lousy, even evil people in the world and they don't all live in the Middle East - some of them hold power in the U.S., are touted on television by highly-paid anchors and smile and joke as they order the death and destruction for people who mean absolutely nothing to them.

I'm still looking forward to seeing him as a contestant on "Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader?". We already know the answer to that one.

Shall we hang W in the portrait gallery at the White House? No. Let's hang him in the Rose Garden.

Nice...in some circles, that kind of talk would be called treason. But I doubt if you would care about that...

Maybe if one of the democrats gets into office and a republican says something like that, you will start talking treason...who knows.

Bottom line...un-called for comment. You can hate a president, but to joke about killing him crosses the line.

Bush is a qualified disaster. He could give a rat's ass about that soldier, or any of the others for that matter. I'm just surprised he wasn't doing his white boy dance he's taken up lately. Mr. President, go to hell.

LOL - And I bet Howie's comment re: one INVOLUNTARY tour just flew right over Monkey Boy's empty cavern of a head.

This is the only thing Monkey Boy is capable of - showing up on bad TV. Could be a new career for him but knowing him, he'll fuck it up - like everything else in his life he's touched.

Oh, ha, ha, ha, ha, heh, heh, heh, heh, 70% of my constituents think I'm a failure, ha ha ha ha ha, heh, heh, heh, heh.

Laughing all the way to the bank. Thanks to the media and the rich sociopaths that control them, our country has been plundered and pillaged. The plunderers and pillagers haven't gone anywhere; they're still here.

Knowledge is power; know thy enemy. It is important to know how Bush and his fellow sociopaths got power and kept power even though 70% of us disapprove of him.

This nightmare isn't over.

I completely agree except that I think the numbers are actually much higher. I have yet to meet or hear from a single person who approves of anything this crank is doing or has done. I suspect the numbers have been altered in order to avoid possible panic.

The Bush cabal relies on the trust tof the American people to do their damage; e.g., the Iraq War, deregulation. I still find myself too trusting.

As you pointed out, it may be that the 28% of people who "approve" of this monster is actually an inflated number. There is one person on our staff of 20 who approves of Bush; that would make Bush's approval rating 5%, which sounds more realistic.

Wow! Ultimate "on the spot" moment.
Assuming his last tour was the "involuntary" one. Which probably means he isn't the biggest fan of the prez. Good for Howie in making the distinction on a prime time show.

Bush reminds you of Cheney and your typical conservative Republican. You cannot shame them with fact, you cannot embarrass them, why because they lack morals and ethics. It's similar to going to a pig sty and yelling to the sows about getting to dirty, hell they don't care. Pigs continue to wallow.

Nelson,
It really dawned on me what type of people these Rethugs like Bush-Cheney are, while watching a documentary on serial killers. These killers all share certain psychological characteristics- they lack a conscience and a moral compass. What freaked me out was the fact that some experts believe that as much as 1 of 100 people share such sociopathic personality traits. Now you mix a sociopathic personality with extreme wealth , privilege and power such as Bush and other Rethugs have inherited and it's not difficult to see how we are in the fix we are-

wsblake, Totally agree.
If we committed these immoral and unethical acts of Bush/Cheney, at least me, I would feel so guilty and ashamed, sleep would be a luxury. They sleep like babes.

What a perfect setting for Bush.
* A game that requires no intelligence
* A game where contestants fall victim to their own greed
* A game where your closest advisors give terrible advice

Boy, I'm having a nasty case of Deja Vu. I can't wait for the current President to get the hell out of the White House.

At this time in 2000, I was sick of even looking at Clinton - between his shameful behavior in the White House and the fact that the economy was showing all the signs of the inevitable Tech Bubble Burst, I didn't even want to see him.

It's even worse this time around. An inept President at the end of a disasterous (on a variety of levels) term. Just keep the guy in a closet somewhere, willya? Jeez, that blank stare coupled with the naive, out-of-context smile. Yikes.

Maybe these people should just be given one, six year term.
