President Bush On Deal Or No Deal: Watch Video

President Bush made a cameo on NBC's Deal or No Deal on Monday to cheer on a U.S. veteran who had done three tours in Iraq (as Howie Mandell pointed out, one of them was involuntary, thanks to Bush's 'stop loss' policy).

Bush thanked the contestant for his service in Iraq, and joked about his own low approval numbers. "I'm thrilled to be on Deal or No Deal' with you tonight," Bush said. "Come to think of it, I'm thrilled to be anywhere with high ratings these days."

Numbers for April alone USA Today/Gallup, 28%, Newsweek 28%, ABC/Washington Post, 33%, AP-Ipsos, 28%, Gallup 28%, and just to be fair and balanced Fox Opinion Dynamics for March 30%, now I would say with all fairness these numbers SUCK, and this is what Bush’s numbers have been, give or take 5 points for the last 3 years. I ask what company would keep you on if your supervisor thought that little of job performance, this is nothing to joke about Mr Bush, because of the suffering behind those numbers. You see normal people don’t worship the ground this scam artist walks on.

No offense to Captain Coppas.

But the host's characterization of him as the "ultimate American" reflects a flawed mindset that is just plain ignorant and wrong.

There are many ways to serve the country, and volunteering to participate in an illegal war that has done nothing but bleed us and the Iraqis doesn't rank as "ultimate". We would be better served if he would have joined those vets who took over the national archives the other day.
