Tony Snow

Tony Snow is joining CNN as a conservative commentator, the network announced today. Snow, who spent 10 years at Fox News, left his job as White House Press Secretary in September, saying he needed to make more money to support his family.

"In the White House, Tony brought a remarkably human touch to the discussion of public policy, which he will continue to do as part of the Best Political Team on Television," CNN/US President Jon Klein said. "He will contribute a unique breadth of political and journalistic expertise to what is already the most provocative and wide-ranging political analysis on the air."

"I'm delighted to be able to join CNN during the most exciting and unpredictable political year in memory," Snow said. "The big challenge in 2008 is to develop deep, creative and aggressive analysis of both political parties, their candidates and campaigns. I'm eager to get started, since this race is sure to shape American politics for years to come."

Update: The Politico's Michael Calderone spoke wtih Snow, who assured him that he still loves his old friends at Fox News:

"Make no mistake, I love the folks at Fox," Snow told [Calderone] this afternoon, by phone from Spokane, Washington.

"Everybody is going to try and create a Fox and CNN narrative out of this," said Snow, who also mentioned that he "love[s]" Fox News chief Roger Ailes and would "walk over broken glass" for Bill O'Reilly.

For 10 years beginning in 1996, he appeared on Fox News Channel, hosting Fox News Sunday, Weekend Live with Tony Snow and other programs. From 2003 to 2006, The Tony Snow Show aired on Fox News Radio. Before joining Fox, Snow served as a substitute "From the Right" co-host for CNN's Crossfire.

"In the White House, Tony brought a remarkably human touch to the discussion of public policy, which he will continue to do as part of the Best Political Team on Television," Klein said.

During the 1990s, Snow was a regular guest host for Rush Limbaugh's radio program. He was the writer, correspondent and host of a PBS news special, The New Militant Center, a regular commentator for National Public Radio and a frequent guest on numerous televised news programs. Snow joined the administration of President George H. W. Bush in 1991 and served first as chief speechwriter and then as media affairs adviser.

In addition to his experience in government, television and radio, Snow spent more than two decades as an award-winning newspaper writer beginning with the Greensboro Record in 1979. He went on to be a columnist for USA Today and Creators Syndicate and an editorial page editor for The Washington Times.

Snow's New Job

Wow! It's like the street walking prostitute who finds better working conditions and becomes more respectable by coming inside, into an established bordello earning more money, bigger tips and more respect.

The new found position is a big step up from a street walker, customers are easier to deal with, but the prostitute is still a whore.

I nearly always found Mr. Snow's press briefings irritating; irritating in that rarely did he answer a question, which is similar to Senator Clinton's mangled responses to just about everything including the kitchen sink, so to speak.

Further proof of the decreasing separation between Government service and immediate entry into the "private sector". It seems like only weeks ago that Mr. Snow resigned for cash flow reasons and now has apparently landed a contract with Constantly Negative News (CNN). Still, it is better that we know where he is and what he is up to. In following politics for decades now, i can't recall detecting a particular bias in the editorials of John Chancelor or Howard K. Smith. What about you, Mr. Snow? Where has the integrity gone? Maybe Fox will bid higher for you or did they already turn you down and you say what the heck, CNN will do. My only solace is that our MSM is the worst in the world but it still better than all the others.

It's obvious CNN is already stupidly conservative. As it continues to decline, Tony Snow's addition will hasten its departure. Good riddance to them both.

I always had the kind of hooded uneasiness deep inside that Mr. Snow was a dangerous man as White House Press Secretary. As was Ari Fleisher. They both had to lie for the president and make it not look too obvious. Tough order. I would think that CNN would offer more concern about hiring anyone who would willingly work for George Bush as a press secretary--given that the job entails lying away all the egregious b*llsh*t this Administration has perpetrated upon our society and the world...

...upon further reflexion, I think Mr. Snow will fit it just fine on Cable News Network. Or any other Network, really.

IT makes CNN Complicit in the crimes this adminstration had commited and Tony Snow is covered in the blood of our greatest heros. SUpport our troops means stop supporting the necon warpigs that are getting them killed. CNN just fired a 50 call into a crowd of our military soldiers and that is how we should react to this hiring. Putting him on the air is dnagerous for America and will play a direct part in the deaths of US soldiers. THis clown is a traitor to his country for putting the republican party above and beyond the best interests of the united States. He is an enemey of the sate and a bigger threat to America than Sadam Husien ever was!

Anybody who would willing work for the Bush Adeministration, where your job is to defend the president, should be more seriously reconsidered by CNN.

What a bummer. CNN is going to hell in a hand basket.
Anyone watch Lions for Lambs? Meryl Streep's part when she talks about what's happened with journalism since entertainment industry bought them all out? ( something like that )
And our PRESIDENT is making cameo appearances on a game show???
WTF??

CNN hires yet another Bush and Company "surrogate and message-force multiplier."
CNN viewers get more simple-minded dribble.
Turn CNN off -- watch international news if you want an objective look at news.
Meanwhile... back at the bus, er... HPost
The one-sided, Obama induced, lack of neutrality continues at HPost
The two - CNN and HPost -- should merge and become one large lying
entity available 24/7 to lie and construe the "news" of the day.
Anderson Cooper and Adrianna = a perfect match.
Fox, CNN and HPost bring you the best posters/ analysts that special interest, personal
agenda's and government talking points that money can buy.

You're right that money rules absolutely. You're in error that CNN and HuffPost are the sole perpetrators. You're wrong that Ariana H. is one-sided. Okay, she's heavily biased. It's just that there's so little in Obama's closet to toss back in his face that Sen. Clinton has decided to--with one thrust--exaggerate and implicate his guilt by association in order to tear him down, to wrest him from what she feels is rightfully hers, what may be her birthright: The throne of President of the United States of America. After all, she may wonder, "I went through enough sh*t." (i.e., sense of entitlement).

What's tellingt is to this day she still cannot believe she's losing, and feels "he can never win," as she apparently told Gov. Richardson (Gov. Richardson, showing more class than James Carville, refuses to confirm or deny the rumor, which is a long, polite way of saying, "She said it," and what she didn't say is if the offensive subtext was intentional or just one of those happy coincidences.

...what was that latest "trustworthy" rating?

You're also right to cite BBC-World News as an unbiased alternative to our salivating MSM. And there's that Deutsche News from Germany, only it's in English but it's still cool...

CNN, The Best News Team On Television, is adding Mr. Snow to boost the controversy potential. Perhaps Mr. Snow still might have a quasi-religious experience, like Howard Beale of "Network" fame, (starring the great Peter Finch, written by the prescient Paddy Chayefsky, 1976):

HOWARD
I don't want you to riot. I
don't want you to protest. I
don't want you to write your
congressmen. Because I wouldn't
know what to tell you to write.
I don't know what to do about the
depression and the inflation and
the defense budget and the Russians
and crime in the street. All
I know is first you got to get
mad. You've got to say: "I'm
mad as hell and I'm not going
to take this any more. I'm a
human being, goddammit. My life
has value." So I want you to
get up now. I want you to get
out of your chairs and go to
the window. Right now. I want
you to go to the window, open
it, and stick your head out
and yell. I want you to yell:
"I'm mad as hell and I'm not
going to take this any more!"
