Tony Snow

Tony Snow is joining CNN as a conservative commentator, the network announced today. Snow, who spent 10 years at Fox News, left his job as White House Press Secretary in September, saying he needed to make more money to support his family.

"In the White House, Tony brought a remarkably human touch to the discussion of public policy, which he will continue to do as part of the Best Political Team on Television," CNN/US President Jon Klein said. "He will contribute a unique breadth of political and journalistic expertise to what is already the most provocative and wide-ranging political analysis on the air."

"I'm delighted to be able to join CNN during the most exciting and unpredictable political year in memory," Snow said. "The big challenge in 2008 is to develop deep, creative and aggressive analysis of both political parties, their candidates and campaigns. I'm eager to get started, since this race is sure to shape American politics for years to come."

Update: The Politico's Michael Calderone spoke wtih Snow, who assured him that he still loves his old friends at Fox News:

"Make no mistake, I love the folks at Fox," Snow told [Calderone] this afternoon, by phone from Spokane, Washington.

"Everybody is going to try and create a Fox and CNN narrative out of this," said Snow, who also mentioned that he "love[s]" Fox News chief Roger Ailes and would "walk over broken glass" for Bill O'Reilly.

Tony Snow Joins CNN as Political Contributor

Former White House press secretary Tony Snow will join CNN as a conservative commentator beginning today, it was announced by Jon Klein, president of CNN/U.S. A well-known and respected observer of politics with a longstanding news background, Snow will contribute to CNN as the network continues to broadcast winning political coverage.

Snow most recently served as press secretary to President George W. Bush from April 2006 to September 2007. For 10 years beginning in 1996, he appeared on Fox News Channel, hosting Fox News Sunday, Weekend Live with Tony Snow and other programs. From 2003 to 2006, The Tony Snow Show aired on Fox News Radio. Before joining Fox, Snow served as a substitute "From the Right" co-host for CNN's Crossfire.

"In the White House, Tony brought a remarkably human touch to the discussion of public policy, which he will continue to do as part of the Best Political Team on Television," Klein said.

During the 1990s, Snow was a regular guest host for Rush Limbaugh's radio program. He was the writer, correspondent and host of a PBS news special, The New Militant Center, a regular commentator for National Public Radio and a frequent guest on numerous televised news programs. Snow joined the administration of President George H. W. Bush in 1991 and served first as chief speechwriter and then as media affairs adviser.

In addition to his experience in government, television and radio, Snow spent more than two decades as an award-winning newspaper writer beginning with the Greensboro Record in 1979. He went on to be a columnist for USA Today and Creators Syndicate and an editorial page editor for The Washington Times.

Wow! I can't believe this. After the outright lies this guy tells their White House correspondents during press briefings, they now praise him for the "human touch" he brings!

Well I quit FOX news, I guess giving up CNN won't be so hard now.

Maybe the goal is to get us to quit watching "news" altogether, thank god for the internet while it lasts.

This man steps in for Bill O'reillys right-wing radio talk show. He is so personally negative towards the Democrats and so pro McCain why would CNN make this move? Fox ,ABC and now CNN.

I have lost all faith in CNN ,it used to be a great network, they have changed ,they lost a lot of good people,Bernie Shaw abrupty quit right after the 2000 election, several others have followed suit. Cancer or no Cancer Tony Snow should stay at fox where he belongs. I actually cant stand the jerk. Any of you remember when Geraldo Riveria left MSNBC and was hired by fox, several of the fox people rose up in protest saying they did not want him there. Fox would never ,ever hire a Keith Olbermann, their viewers would protest. We watch CNN for unbias coverage, but it is not so with the likes of Lou Dobbs ,Candy Crowley ,Anderson Cooper. Finally why the fu..k does Lou Dobbs like to yell out at his reporters . I feel sorry for them ,he embarrasses them by belittling them if they report something that he does not like. Candy Crowley is a bias reporter for Hillary, she sickens me.

It's all so seamless. Tony Snowjob lies for a living, retires, and goes on to again lie for a living.

Yes, on Fox one can hear the far paranoid right balanced by the extremely far, forming-a militia-right to combat UN invasion force.

Think Snow is fair and balanced????? Watch him when he appears on the Bill Maher show on HBO. He spins everything into a neoconservative bent. He also calls people who disagree with him all kinds of names and almost calls them stupid for having an opinion different from his. He's a Bushco booster and has been carrying Bush/Rove water his whole "career" if you can call it that a career. Hopefully with the demise of the Bush administration, he and all the other neocons who have been getting a free ride and also getting rich will all disappear. If only God were listening............

Beck and Snow...part of CNN...the Con News Network. Of course, old Wolf is a neocon too. He basically got his start in the FIRST Bu$h war in Iraq. Of course, that Bu$h was a LOT smarter than this Bu$h, and the war was fairly short.

CNN has been in the process of becoming of marginal value for several years now. There is no indication that they are going to turn this trend around. If anything, they are becoming more and more slanted, and less and less impartial. I would hope that they will lose viewership, but I imagine that they will manage to appeal to their base, or, "al Qaeda", as they say in Arabic.
Those wishing fairness and impartiality have to look elsewhere, and that is sad.

CNN has been gradually losing my trust. They try to mannipulate the news. For years I have been suspicious of these so called military analysts they have featured. Their analyses often amounted to whitewashing the facts on the ground.
CNN makes very little effort to verify information. Most so called news is hear say, that is what some obviously biased individul said. Tony Snow is a logical addition to this crowd. It appears to be CNN policy to do what they can to drag out the Democratic primary campaign in the interest of ratings
Wolf Blitzer's trademark "So and so says you are a bloody crook. How do you feel about that?" must be about the most mindless journalistic formula on any network.
They have only two correspondents I really trust Christian Amampour and Mike Ware reporting from Baghdad. Mike Ware was evidently too honest for their newsroom. I haven't heard fom him lately.
.
We have now decided to stop tuning into CNN except when one of these two is reporting.
