Tony Snow

Tony Snow is joining CNN as a conservative commentator, the network announced today. Snow, who spent 10 years at Fox News, left his job as White House Press Secretary in September, saying he needed to make more money to support his family.

"In the White House, Tony brought a remarkably human touch to the discussion of public policy, which he will continue to do as part of the Best Political Team on Television," CNN/US President Jon Klein said. "He will contribute a unique breadth of political and journalistic expertise to what is already the most provocative and wide-ranging political analysis on the air."

"I'm delighted to be able to join CNN during the most exciting and unpredictable political year in memory," Snow said. "The big challenge in 2008 is to develop deep, creative and aggressive analysis of both political parties, their candidates and campaigns. I'm eager to get started, since this race is sure to shape American politics for years to come."

Update: The Politico's Michael Calderone spoke wtih Snow, who assured him that he still loves his old friends at Fox News:

"Make no mistake, I love the folks at Fox," Snow told [Calderone] this afternoon, by phone from Spokane, Washington.

"Everybody is going to try and create a Fox and CNN narrative out of this," said Snow, who also mentioned that he "love[s]" Fox News chief Roger Ailes and would "walk over broken glass" for Bill O'Reilly.

Tony Snow Joins CNN as Political Contributor

Former White House press secretary Tony Snow will join CNN as a conservative commentator beginning today, it was announced by Jon Klein, president of CNN/U.S. A well-known and respected observer of politics with a longstanding news background, Snow will contribute to CNN as the network continues to broadcast winning political coverage.

Snow most recently served as press secretary to President George W. Bush from April 2006 to September 2007. For 10 years beginning in 1996, he appeared on Fox News Channel, hosting Fox News Sunday, Weekend Live with Tony Snow and other programs. From 2003 to 2006, The Tony Snow Show aired on Fox News Radio. Before joining Fox, Snow served as a substitute "From the Right" co-host for CNN's Crossfire.

"In the White House, Tony brought a remarkably human touch to the discussion of public policy, which he will continue to do as part of the Best Political Team on Television," Klein said.

During the 1990s, Snow was a regular guest host for Rush Limbaugh's radio program. He was the writer, correspondent and host of a PBS news special, The New Militant Center, a regular commentator for National Public Radio and a frequent guest on numerous televised news programs. Snow joined the administration of President George H. W. Bush in 1991 and served first as chief speechwriter and then as media affairs adviser.

In addition to his experience in government, television and radio, Snow spent more than two decades as an award-winning newspaper writer beginning with the Greensboro Record in 1979. He went on to be a columnist for USA Today and Creators Syndicate and an editorial page editor for The Washington Times.

I actually cannot believe the first comment attached to this story. Claiming those commentators are leftists? Has this person even seen Glenn Beck? That man's worse than Billo. He masks his bigotry with lame comedy and claims he is above it all? What a joke. I'm sorry, but that person needs a wake up call

dear Lord!?!?!? I thought that dude was supposedly terminally. I guess Karla Rove came up with that lie too.

Why do the great like Paul Wellstone have to die, but people who lie us into war that leads to countless deaths linger on like a bad wasabi fart?

One more reason to not watch the "Conservative News Network" (CNN).

Tony Snow - a total waste of skin.

"CNN Worldwide, a division of Turner Broadcasting System, Inc., a Time Warner Company, is the most trusted source for news and information." Is this story just a CNN news release posing as an actual objective story? That is the trouble with journalism these days, so many actual White House press releases are also taken as journalism and not checked for accuracy or for their substance.

Hiring Tony Snow just means having another liar on CNN who will incessantly spin any news item in a conservative direction. What ever happened to hiring journalists who would tell the truth instead of the most proficient spin doctors? Spin doctors lie by nature and feel good about it. News and opinion get mixed and facts become a matter of interpretation depending on one's political beliefs. This trend indicates the decline of journalism. It is why the Bushies have not been held accountable.

All they are going to do is sit around in a circle, rub each others backs and congratulate each other on being the 'best political team on teeeeveeeee.' Meanwhile they will not have a clue as to the problems and concerns facing all Americans, liberal, moderate and conservative. (although the conservatives will continue to live in denial with their heads firmly planted in the sand which is, contrary to magical thinking, older than 5000 years.)

They are going to have themselves a John 'he man' Sidney McCain III LOVE FEST! Fortunately for us, more and more people are finding them less credible by the minute. If they say something is true, the opposite probably is. You know, like everything GeeeDub says. Freedom is on the frigging march!

I suppose it won't be the first case of a political contributor with nothing to contribute.

as much as i like kiran chetry, i guess i'm done with cnn now too. i've got nothing against fair and balanced coverage, but as far as i'm concerned, tony snow is complicit in one of the cruelest and calculating hostile takeovers this country has ever seen. he repeatedly lied and twisted the truth to deliberately push criminal propaganda down the throats of the american people. hundreds of thousands of people are DEAD because of bush and his criminals. cnn, as far as i'm concerned, has now put their seal of approval on the bush administration and their duplicity.
there are many talented, conservative people that they could choose from. tony snow is the minister of information, war criminal, boytoy, of g.w. stalin.
