Chris Delusion

Chris Matthew started off the Pennsylvania primary coverage with a bang tonight. Shortly after 6, seated by co-anchor Keith Olbermann, Matthews called the primary, and thus his coverage tonight, basically moot. "This contest is essentially over," he proclaims to Keith. "Barack Obama is going to win the most elected delegates."

He went on to say of the media, "Trying to keep this game going, we've created the delusion that somehow this race is still open."

Watch:

Flashback:
Obama sends a thriill up Chris Matthews' leg.

*sighs* as the world goes to hell in a hand basket I see that the democratic party is arguing over the semantics of politics. Look, this out come was a foregone conclusion. Hillary was up 26 points, she had every political heavyweight in the state of Pennsylvania pulling for her. A hundred mayors...that's a militia. She also has the Clinton brand...which in my estimation is why so many undecideds go her way...in the end when you don't know you stick to who you know.... they know Hillary they don't know Barack. This is a expected win... let the pundits spin it all they want... but let us good people here move on to bigger and better things...like when the GE.... Stop with all the venom and hate for one another...Hillary will do a better job than Mccain as will Barack!!! Now lets move on please...

He is absolutely right. The visit that never leaves thinks math doesn't matter. She had every ambitious Pennsylvania politician, the ones waiting for her to thrown them a bone, backing her. It was not the the people the decided the primary. It was the machinery, the establishment, and their propaganda that gave her the "victory". Sad, lies and attacks still work. Even with the sad state in the country.
If she grabs the election, she'll be confronted with a similar machine, but meaner and even more corrupt. Republicans will tear her to pieces. If this happens, I'll be enjoying the general immensely. I'll call this Karma.
I hope the lame Democrats will change the rules on the next election. Why allowed Republicans to vote on a Democrat primary, just to have the candidate they want to run against, win?

Why isn't anyone asking why does Hillary attracts old r women, uneducated people, and white working class? Is it becuase these groups are easliy manipulated, and don't know any better?

Nope. She turned her core constituency on to Crown Royal instead of the rail whiskey and now they love their shot-n-a-beer gal even more.

As opposed to those of you who are young and act as if this is an election to elect the new American Idol?

I'm surprised at Chris Matthews, thought he was a smart guy. Olbermann, too. Smart people especially broadcasters, don't show their biases so blatantly. I've said it before & will say it again (even tho my blogs never get posted), Hillary's gonna win because she wins in all the states a Democratic nominee needs to win in. She's ready on day one & when she's president, she will owe nothing to the media who have tried to malign her every step of the way. I live in Oregon & hope she will win here, too.
"Go, Hillary!!!"

delusional.

there is NO way Hillary can win. even if she pulled in 20 point leads in the next several primaries, she cant convince superdelegates to switch.

this is something every major analyst knows.

What's delusional is to think the Superdelegates are going to give it to Obama when he will face the Florida and Michigan delegates seated [now both states so damn pissed off that when they cast their final votes at the Convention will most surely cast them heavily in Clinton's favor since Obama filed legal action to stop the recounts] and see his popular vote eroded with her winning all the key states needed to win the General Election.

Get used to the Neo-libs being marginalized once again.

Let's put this deliberately misleading argument to rest that because Clinton has won Ohio, Texas and Pennsylvania, that she's the ONLY Dem candidate who can win the states the Dems "need to win in November." For that to be true, the following things would have to happen: (1) the Democratic Party WOULD NOT WORK TO ELECT OBAMA in those states (unlikely given the stakes of the upcoming general election and given the traditional Dem constituency, Blacks, and the new constituencies of young voters that Obama has invigorated for the party); (2) those states, all narrow losses for Obama, would be IMPOSSIBLE for him to win in November (a few thousand more voters on his side and he might have won the Texas popular vote in March); and (3) that ONLY Clinton can challenge McCain in those states (not a foregone conclusion since the Dem race is still on and McCain has largely gotten a free pass from the Dems bacause of that and the mounting negatives for Clinton). Al Gore lost the 2000 general election because he couldn't win Tennessee, with its 11 electoral votes. The Dem Party need to win AS MANY STATES AS IT CAN IN NOVEMBER. Clinton already has written off the small states. If she wins the Dem nomination, how is she going to CREDIBLY come back to them to ask for their support? This argument shows just how desperate Clinton is to hang her hat on SOMETHING and how myopic her campaign has been.

A big FU to that pasty faced know it all and all other "pundits" who were calling for Hillary to call it quits. She is one tough Mama and IS more capable and ready to be president . I love watching Matthews try to put a happy face on when he says he called it at 8 points for Hillary-wow what a guess............Obama has time........needs more experience-she will work for us...if you meet her in person, she is likable, charming and funny-of course she has ambition- who the hell would want that job in the first place?.......wake up!-this thing is going to the convention!!!!!-YOU GO GIRL!!!!!!!!!

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 11:21 PM on 04/22/2008

you go girl? really? can I raise my fist and say brother's gonna work it out when Obama wins the nomination? or would that be venal and sophomoric?

The woman can't go two days without threatening to bomb Iran and you've got the Laverne and Shirley theme song in your head. That's childish.

If she's so capable and that much more of a leader than Obama; then shouldn't SHE have the big lead. Also, and this is open for all of you Clintonites, would someone please, since so much of what she's claimed to have done has proven to be horseshit, give an updated list of H's accomplishments; or anything, really, that might corroborate her claim of "experience" and all this Day 1 nonsense. Seriously, because I can't find it and I'm a professionally-trained historian.

Remember: that's 35 Years Of Experience. 61 - 35 = 26. She's counting right out of law school in her experience column?
When does this candidate not lie?

The coverage by the media has been very supportive of Hillary. Every day I see Hillary getting free publicity. If I don't see Hillary, I see Bill or Chelsey. I don't see Obama as much. Even on Olbermann last night there was Hillary. With that so called debate, I'm surprised Obama did that well. If a candidate is continually questioned about his patriotism, that is just the excuse some voters will use to vote for Hillary. I used to like Hillary but not any more. With her attacks on Move On, and the way her cohorts were in the debate, for the first time in my voting life, I might stay home. After seeing her performance, I see no difference between her and McCain or Bush for that matter.

If she doesn't have as much money, doesn't that mean something? Not as much donors. Not as much fiscal responsibility, or organization.
She can thank the machinery for her "victory".

Chris Matthews and some other white men his age simply cannot accept the fact Hillary Rodham Clinton has done better than other white male candidates. Chris, is it just Senator Clinton, or all smart, powerful women that you feel threatened by and therefore are so biased? If you are so brilliant, why don't YOU run for President. Anything is possible in America. Your talk show is proof.

They are not not giving her her props. But it's probably over,ok? I'm sorry for her. They always say it's about timing. America as with every other nation or people was born from a woman's womb and unless they all had really great father's there's no reason to believe a woman can't power a nation on the principles of life. Just didn't happen with her this time.

Oh. my. god. really? nobody's threatened by powerful women anymore. Woman who blithely pledge to obliterate Iran in interviews... that's threatening. If it was an actual, walking and talking teddy bear running for president talking about obliterating Iran... that's threatening... get over yourself... this isn't about you it's about us... I know Hillary doesn't get that either... maybe that's why you've projected yourself onto I mean supported her.

Let's act like grown ups here, we all know that it's over, as long as obama can keep his feet out of his mouth. Does it bother you that much to let clinton pretend to be a nominee for another month? Come on lets be big people here, not 3rd graders. Give the few people who actually visit this web site some credit.

MSNBC called it for Clinton with 3% of the vote in. Isn't that a little early.

They, like most other major media outlets, called it on the basis of exit polls which indicated pretty clearly that she had won, though the votes had yet to be tallied.
