American Idol: David Cook's CD Yanked As He Wows With "Phantom" Song (VIDEO)

David Cook has emerged as favorite in this season of "American Idol" and he's making news in more ways than most. Roger Friedman reports:

American Idol contestant David Cook's album, Analog Heart, is now completely gone from amazon.com's MP3 library.

I told you yesterday that after we discovered it was the number 1 downloaded album on Amazon's service, "American Idol" had it partially pulled. The cover and a listing for it still remained. But as of last night, Analog Heart is gone like it never existed.

But one other current contestant still has an album that can be bought or downloaded. Carly Smithson, nee Hennessy, made a much loved CD in 2001 for Geffen Records, Called "Ultimate High," Smithson/Hennessy's CD was produced by the New Radicals' Gregg Alexander.

On Tuesday's American Idol he wowed the crowd with "Music of the Night" on Andrew Lloyd Webber night.

Not having heard the song before, I thought David Cook did a great job last night. I've been very surprised by him, and am starting to see him as the one with the best chance to win this whole thing. He just has to woo David Archuletta's teenage girl fan base away, and I'm not sure if he'll be able to do that or not.

David Cook is truly special. His rendition of "Music of the Night" was wonderful. Sorry to see that David A. and Jason didn't do their homework regarding their song choices...Carly made an excellent choice. Brooke should have chosen "Don't Cry for me Argentina"...it would have been a perfect fit. She always seems so sweet but alas she's on a plane ride home.

Andrew Lloyd Webber's beautiful music! The man is phenominal.
Jason showed his ignorance of music and lack of grace by rolling his eyes and sticking out his tongue.
I know some folks on here say they didn't care for Carly's performance of "Jesus Christ Superstar", but I thought she did a good job and she sure looked like she was having a good time up on stage.
I didn't care for Brooke's performance, it was kinda... meh...
The other 3 did very well.

I have read a couple of posts here that say she did not do well. (One idiot hit her with the ultimate insult you can throw at singer... she called her a "fat porky".)
I thought that was a rather intellegent way to judge a person's singing, don't you?
My own opinion is that she looks just fine.
My opinion of her voice is, "WOW."
I thoroughly enjoyed her performance and choice of song.

Shikeze and Carly dazzled with joyous performances- vocally (just listen) not so hot. Cook did hit that one note that surprised me and, in fact, blew my mind. Young David was very good, but who cares? Brooke had been complimented the first time she asked to start over, now she's trashed. Listen to her studio version of this song as well as last week's ("Hero") and tell me she can't sing or doesn't sound fantastic on record. She needs a good coach and the rifht material. Jason should go- one-dimensionally stoned.

has no one here seen/heard michael crawford's version, which cook attempted to duplicate and failed miserably at? cook even affected a faux english accent and completely ruined the final note - going for on high instead of keeping it low where it belonged. just a train wreck though admittedly not as bad as jason and brooke, both of whom are so far out of their league on that stage that it has ceased to be amusing.

People like Idol? GREAT! Buy WHY O WHY do I have to read about it on "news" sites as if it carries ANY importance at all??? Yes I know, I don't have to read it, and usually I don't, but today I just felt the need to vent a bit.

I do not watch it. I have never watched it. I will never watch it.

Can't wait for this fad to be over and this show to be cancelled. Heard recently that the ratings are down in the seventh season. Perhaps there's hope yet.....

It's called "Entertainment News" -- you can see it's in the Entertainment section too. If you don't like American Idol (I'm not a huge fan myself) then just skip the story. What's the big deal?

Yet another individual who doesn't realize the internet is limitless. Unlike a newspaper or magazine that only has a limited number of pages, there is room for everything on the internet. So, if you only want "news", then go to that section. For those of us who ALSO like entertainment news, we have such items as this.

for people who like idol this is a point of interest. for people like you, WHY oh WHY do you choose to go to places you don't have to then complain about it when you do?
