Clintons Past

The Washington Post reports this morning via an anonymous Democratic strategist that the Obama camp may seek to remind voters of the less impressive days of the Clinton administration:

Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton's victory yesterday in Pennsylvania has only accentuated the quandary that Obama faces: Stay negative and he risks undermining the premise of his candidacy. Stay aloof and he underscores Clinton's argument that he will not be able to beat a "Republican attack machine" sure to greet him this summer....

With Obama clearly favored in North Carolina, even he has called Indiana the "tiebreaker," a state that adjoins Illinois but where Clinton voters hold sway in the working-class towns in the south. In the two weeks leading up to the Indiana primary, a Democratic strategist familiar with the Obama campaign said aides are likely to turn to the controversies of Bill Clinton's White House years -- Hillary Clinton's trading cattle futures, Whitewater and possibly impeachment.

Continue reading about Obama's Indiana primary strategy.

UPDATE: Obama's campaign manager David Plouffe has denied the report:

"We're not gonna do that," Plouffe said. "We have not talked about those issues in the campaign, and won't."

I'll say again.Bring it on. Ken Starr and the Repb. issued 2000 subpeonas spent 40 million over more than 2 years to bring down the Clintons,to no avail. I don't think anyone making comments here have more info than Ken Starr had.If they do Please call the FBI.

I'm with you. Whatever has been reported, has been re-reported, investigated, and disproved....more than once. So sure....let's bring it up again.

I don't think anyone has to dredge up any dirt from Bills 8 years in office. All they have to do is bring up the fresh dirt from the Clinton's post-White House years. There is plenty of it there.

"We can be a party that says and does whatever it takes to win the next election......................
Or we can be the party that doesn"t just focus on how to win but why we should."
-Sen. Barack Obama 4/23/08

I'm going to follow my pick for Democratic Presidential candidate here and congratulate the Hillary Clinton supporters for the win in PA. And now it's on to NC and Indiana. I've always said that I'm not against Hillary, I just like Barack better. No need for name calling and the like on this board. For me, the most important thing is that we change DC in November and keep the Republicans from retaking the
White House. It's also important that we help the Dems that are running down ticket for Congressional offices. I honestly believe that either Sen. Clinton on Sen. Obama would make good presidents.

Of course Barak will dredge up dirt.
HE does not have anything positive to say.
Where is the big 'change' he talks about?
Sounds like same old shit........

Yeah he is not going to do it against her he has too much loyalty to the party I think its more of a warning to get her off kilter and to see what his voters allow him to get away with but he is going to do it against the GOP and McCain.

The only people he fooled were the ones who have never followed politics before. He's a politician. Just like all the rest of them. He stays positive when he feels like he's winning, goes negative when he feels threatened. Obviously he's feeling threatened right now. If he is so smart and gifted, with all of his monetary advantages, why can't he knock her out. And if he's so cocksure about his chances, why won't he allow Florida to re-vote.

Not likely, since both of you are obviously either pro Hillary or pro Rebpulican.

No Obama support would refer to him as "St (Saint)"

The public and pundits are the same folks that say if he doesn't "fight" back, he's not tough enough, So you want to put him in a no-win situation?

Any American who thinks that our political process to choose our President has to resort to the level of negativity and mudslinging ... deserves a President who lies and deceives them.

That's the way it is folks.... choose a Candidate who gets in the gutter then you get a President who has filth all over them... why would you expect anything different?

Her stance on policy is fair game. I doubt he'll bring up the scandals that Hillary was not directly involved in. There's plenty enough material to cover her in mud without tossing in Bill's mud to boot. Her failed healthcare plan as first lady alone is a terrible rust under the fresh paint.

You are just afraid that if he does, Hillary's butt would be grass. Obama should go negative. He is not going to win and he should not let her win either. Hillary is doing it to him. Tear her up Obama!!

McCain "08"
