Star Jones Divorce Shock: Files Papers After 3.5 Years

Entertainment Tonight reports:
Star Jones (46) has filed for divorce from husband of three-and-a-half years Al Reynolds (39). The filing took place on March 26 in New York Supreme Court in Manhattan. Starlet M. Jones versus Al S. Reynolds was marked as an "Uncontested Matrimonial" case by the court and the records were sealed.

In a statement, the former View co-host says, "Several years ago I made an error in judgment by inviting the media into the most intimate area of my life. A month ago I filed for divorce. The dissolution of a marriage is a difficult time in anyone's life that requires privacy with one's thoughts. I have committed myself to handling this situation with dignity and grace and look forward to emerging from this period as a stronger and wiser woman."

Yesterday, New York divorce attorney Stanford Lotwin (who worked on the high profile divorces of Howard Stern, Donald Trump and Diana Ross among others) filed a notice of appearance with the courts. Upon learning of the filing, ET producers discovered the original divorce decree.

Jones married Al Reynolds at Saint Bartholomew's Church in New York City on November 13, 2004. The wedding was an extravagant affair with 500 hundred guests, three matrons of honors, 12 bridesmaids and four flower girls. The lavish nuptials came under scrutiny when Star discussed her wedding's sponsors at length on her ABC show.

Star Jones was born Starlet Marie Jones in Badin, North Carolina. An attorney, she began her broadcasting career as a commentator on Court TV for the William Kennedy Smith rape trial and spent several years as a legal correspondent for NBC's The Today Show. She joined The View in 1997 and on June 27, 2006 announced she would be leaving the show. Most recently, Jones hosted her own show on cable's truTV (formerly Court TV). She has authored two books: You Have To Stand for Something, or You'll Fall for Anything and Shine.

Perhaps. But it does not mean Al was incapable of loving Star. Sometimes, it is difficult to admit our true selves to even ourselves. And sometimes we see what we want to see in our prospective partners.

Don't feel sorry for Star. She brought this all on herself. I stopped watching the view when she started to get out of hand with the endorsements, her "wonderful perfect man" and the outfits she would buy for her spoiled little dog (dogs are not made to wear clothes and people who dress their pets up have serious issues). Who gives a crap. I was not one bit surprised when Barbara and company gave her the boot. I used to like the old Star. I always thought she was bright and provided a good balance on The View. She did not have to go overboard like she did. She definitely had the attitude that she was above everybody (even the viewers) and that was her downfall. Hopefully, she will learn from this experience and keep her next romance and wedding out of the spotlight.

The only possible reasons I can imagine that he found to marry her in the first place, were for the connections and the payday.

Surely this guy never fell in love with this materialistic egomaniac.

Hopefully, Jones will go back to the practice of law and leave us all the hell alone now.
