With his state's critical primary in two short weeks, Democratic Indiana Sen. Evan Bayh -- a strong supporter of Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton -- has been leaning on the Hoosier State's freshman House members to stay on the sidelines rather than endorse Sen. Barack Obama.

Obama is hoping to win the outspoken support of Reps. Brad Ellsworth, Baron Hill and Joe Donnolly. He campaigned for them ahead of their 2006 Democratic sweep, and their districts sprawl across the southern half and central heartland of Indiana -- white, working class areas that favor Clinton. Even a good showing in those districts could be enough for Obama to take the state, given his strength in Indianapolis and the largely African American north near Chicago.

Evan Bayh's stance reminds me of Phyllis Schlafly or Dr. Laura...both whom whom made careers of going around the country telling other women they shouldn't have careers.

PuhLEEZ...

Superdelegates should follow my lead and remain uncommitted until they see who the voters in their district support. Wait a minue! I'm a superdelegate. Mmmh! New suggestion - uncommitted superdelegates should follow my lead and support Hillary. That's it.

Just another example of the HRC campaign's bad advice. Supers - all across the country- should come out and suppport their candidate.

At this point, they are just behaving like craven opportunists.

Our esteemed senator from Indiana needs to zip his lip and stop giving advice. Last time i looked,
Evan Bayh could barely keep from drooling after the HRC VP spot. He is a Clinton lackey. I voted for him the last time around and i will not do it again.

during Penn. primary/ lead by 16-25 pts backed by gov Rendell/ 100 mayors and the entire democratic machine, there was no call to slow downthe SD/ the Indiana Senator is capaigning heavily for the Clintons. There is no rhyme or reason in the Clintons spin/ they are throwing everyting and hoping some if not all will stick. We (uninformed) is so vulnerable to MSM, they dictate if not choose who will be our next President. VERY SAD

The superdelegates should remain independant - and do as they're told!

The truth is that if Hillary is the candidate they will be MORE likely to lose their seats. Because Hillary has no coat tails. Neither did Bill. I think everyone underestimates Hillary's negatives. She's brought Obama down to earth. But not as far as she's taken herself. Hillary's hope was that we would remember all of the good things about Bill's presidency and none of the bad. Her tactics have brought it all back. The good and the bad. And there is a lot of bad. Some of it new. If the Republicans can try to paint Obama as radical. They can also state of Clinton "flip flop" "hypocrite" and "liar". Just watch her move BACK to the right if she wins the nomination.

Senator Bayh is an idiot.

BTW, will he be withdrawing his Hillary endorsement now that he's urging all his colleagues to sit on their hands?

I agree with Bayh: Forget Hillary.

Screw you Sen. Bayh. This is a case of do what I say, not as I do. If you ask superdelegates in your state not to endorse, then you shouldn't have endorsed either.

Good for the goose ain't good for the gander. What he mean was: don't endorse anyone EXCEPT HRC.

Who cares?

Evan Bayh is captain cardboard.

He is a bland, stereotypical washington insider.

This Senator is a putz.

I recall him slamming Dean in 2003/2004. He's just kissing arse to be V.P.

Nobody supports, endorses, smiles at, speaks to, or waves unless they support us. Not one more Super Delegate anywhere needs to even act like they support Obama. Remember, only the big states matter, and if you are not one of the ones that voted for me you will be sorry after I am on John McCains ticket as VP.

Signed,
Senator Hillary R. Clinton

I nominate Hillary Clinton for President of the NRA and in the words of Dr. Evil: I shall nameee herrrrrrr "HILLIARLOT."
