Obama Watch Over

Fox News anchor Chris Wallace says it's been 769 days since Sen. Barack Obama agreed to an interview that never materialized. But this Sunday, the wait is over. According to a Fox News release, Sen. Obama will be appearing on Wallace's "Fox News Sunday" this weekend.

From the press release:

FOX News Sunday's "Obama Watch" to Stop This Weekend

FOX News Sunday host Chris Wallace will sit down for an exclusive one-on-one interview with Democratic Presidential Candidate Senator Barack Obama airing on Sunday April 27, 2008.

This interview follows the much talked about "Obama Watch" clock that FOX News Sunday began running on March 16, 2008 to track the time that had lapsed since Senator Obama accepted Wallace's initiation to appear as a guest: 730 days, 13 hours, 53 minutes and 18 seconds.

The last clock count as of last Sunday was 765 days, 13 hours, 54 min, 47 seconds.

Wallace had started a weekly segment called "Obama Watch" last monthwhen, 730 days since he claims that the senator had agreed to an interview, Sen. Obama still hadn't appeared on the channel. Those many days means that Sen. Obama agreed to the interview in 2006, far before Democratic candidates for the 2008 election famously refused to participate in any Fox News debates.

Although Sen. Obama's camp has yet to release an official statement, Wallace wrote a post hinting that the upcoming exclusive interview may be the result of Sen. Obama's "double-digit loss" in Pennsylvania.

This item has been corrected from a previous version that said Senator Obama refused to appear on Fox News Channel. In fact, Obama has been interviewed on Fox News several times. The Huffington Post regrets the error.

What's the matter.. are you afraid that your King can't stand the heat?

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 10:36 AM on 04/25/2008

No not at all!! I think this is going to be a hoot.. Wait till they see their ratings hit the roof.. It's just going to be hard to listen to the hillbillies afterwards try to understand what Obama is talking about since they only have a 2nd year education. They will instead talk about flag pins and Kenya and hats and stuttering

I say let Obama go on Faux. What can it hurt? The knuckle draggers who actually watch faux aren't going to vote for him anyway. I have confidence that Obama will easily make mince meat out of Wallace. And, anyways, it doesn't matter how great or reasonable his answers are to the probable ignorant questions that Wallace poses. Faux will twist, mangle and take what he says out of context and totally demonize him. Big deal. Intelligent people don't fall for such nonsense.

Obama should show up with a giant-sized lapel flag. Then he can claim that he's even more patriotic than the shills on Fox.

Poor, pathetic Carville...another 90s mouthpiece just as desperate as Bill Clinton to stay relevant.

Carville and the Dem attack machine; mentors of Carl Rove. Republicans learned from the masters but still haven't gotten quite as good.

He will not be allowed to speak freely.
Fox follows the same theme each time.
Discussions on Fox are shouting matches punctuated with bravado and inuendo.
The "Host" will constantly return to one or two slogans in a badgering manner. There will be another person to interrupt and distract any attempt to clarify anything. Short answers will be ignored if blurted out.
Perhaps they will simply play his silly preacher on a short as he shouts GD America over and over then show them arm in arm as kindred souls.
If Obama speaks to them as a man, they will crow about his anger and underlying agression.
His education and intelligence will not matter since the thing will be controlled to the point of his microphone being shut off.
He has never been more ripe for Fox.
This fake news outlet is by no means interested in truth. What more do they have to do to prove that?
If he wants to make a speech countering accusations or clarifying his positions he can hold a press confrence and does not need Fox.

I am far from a Fox fan, but Chris Wallace is the by far the best of that bunch. And the format is one on one for his show, so there is no "other person to interrupt".

This is not Obama problem. Obama's problem is Charlie Rose's interview with Rev Wright. With friends like that as they say...

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 09:45 AM on 04/25/2008

Did Rev Wright do an interview with Charlie Rose in addition to the one with Bill Moyers that will air tonight and was all over cable TV last night?

That should be interesting to see

After the airing of the Wright interview........bad move

The ole Rev Wright story blown up by the media is getting old. The best thing about it though is the longer they harp on it the less the story will get by the GE.

Wright has his own self interest in talking with Moyers to begin with WHY would he do this during the election AT ALL? And then he made the 'politicians say and do what they have to say and do....? And this is the family pastor?? WTF??? Where are the CREDIBLE Black religious leadership----HELP OBAMA!!!!!

As we all learned in the schoolyard, the best way to handle a bully is to smack him as soon as you see him -- hard! If Obama comes out swinging, Wallace will fold like a cheap card table. This is not the time for making nice. Hit'em, O!

The difference will be whether the "interview" will be live or pre-recorded. If taped, the FOX editors will have Obama confessing to everything from the Peterson disapperance to 9-11. Live, Obama should come out swinging - play offense instead of defense.

I admire his effort to bring some of the fox viewers under the big tent. But these mutants have adapted and like living in the acid rain. A lot of them do the pissing themselves. He has a lot to lose and little to gain. It would be a sweeter victory in November despite of fox's BS. In spite of Murdock's mandate, in spite of the powers that be, and in spite of all the seducing lies of the Clintons. But that's a tall order, and many of the mangled minds of middle a'Merica do make it to the booth, so he's trying to gather a few from the road to nowhere. Good Luck.

There it is: that mocking attitude towards "middle a'Merica". Here's the troubling little thing about that: these people, and there are millions and millions of them, vote. So mock them at your peril. Christ on a crutch, are we Democrats incapable of learning? You want to be smug and self-congratulatory and sneer at the great unwashed? Fine. Just don't try riding that to the Presidency.

Idiocy. This is how we end up with the likes of Dubya.

Remember accordin to Obama's campaign manager, Axelrod, those blue collar white voters aren't important anyway because they never vote for dems.

i think that barack obama is perfectly capable of ripping chris wallace a new one, in the nicest possible way, if wallace starts in with the usual FauxNews biased, bullshit, gotcha questions...

my only advise to obama would be not to eat or drink anything while he's there ...

It is hard to find ANY broadcast media that even bats .200
Maybe Bill Moyer and Amy Goodman.
Media is generally as programmed/brainwashed as the general population. Critical thinking as as rare in those circles as anywhere else.

Barack is like Daniel in the old testament. Going into the lions den. And it ok he should face these demons. His campaign should ask for a list of the questions first and walk out if they deviate from them.

Well that kinda belies the Daniel analogy, don't you think? Obama has plenty of opportunities to make a speech, if he going to do an interview, well one of the underpinnings of that is that the interviewer decides the questions.

And people say Obama followers are arrogant....

BHO - stick a fork in him - HE'S DONE - he has been found out and that ain't good for a phoney candidate with an empty basket of hope and change.

Bring us together LOL - he can't bring the democrat party together - his record is partisan, he won't beat our 1/2 crazy old man, rino.

Your crazy old man won't even make it through his first term if he got in. He has such temper tantrums he'll have to be medicated. Shouldn't you be in school ? Sound kind of immature to me. Or are you one of the uneducated Hillary fans ?

Just a hint, name-calling ("crazy old man", "uneducated") is the very essence of immaturity. BTW, the higher income, higher educated demographic is swinging over to Hillary according to the most recent polls.

Foxs beats other networks because its a tabloid network that appeals to the lowest common denominator.

Fox is the Paris Hilton, Brittany Spears of journalism, not something they should be parading as a badge of honor.

However, if he's chosen to appear, i trust Obama knows what he's doing.
