Fox News Finally Lands Obama Interview, "Obama Watch" To End

Fox News anchor Chris Wallace says it's been 769 days since Sen. Barack Obama agreed to an interview that never materialized. But this Sunday, the wait is over. According to a Fox News release, Sen. Obama will be appearing on Wallace's "Fox News Sunday" this weekend.

FOX News Sunday's "Obama Watch" to Stop This Weekend

FOX News Sunday host Chris Wallace will sit down for an exclusive one-on-one interview with Democratic Presidential Candidate Senator Barack Obama airing on Sunday April 27, 2008.

This interview follows the much talked about "Obama Watch" clock that FOX News Sunday began running on March 16, 2008 to track the time that had lapsed since Senator Obama accepted Wallace's initiation to appear as a guest: 730 days, 13 hours, 53 minutes and 18 seconds.

The last clock count as of last Sunday was 765 days, 13 hours, 54 min, 47 seconds.

Wallace had started a weekly segment called "Obama Watch" last monthwhen, 730 days since he claims that the senator had agreed to an interview, Sen. Obama still hadn't appeared on the channel. Those many days means that Sen. Obama agreed to the interview in 2006, far before Democratic candidates for the 2008 election famously refused to participate in any Fox News debates.

Although Sen. Obama's camp has yet to release an official statement, Wallace wrote a post hinting that the upcoming exclusive interview may be the result of Sen. Obama's "double-digit loss" in Pennsylvania.

This item has been corrected from a previous version that said Senator Obama refused to appear on Fox News Channel. In fact, Obama has been interviewed on Fox News several times. The Huffington Post regrets the error.

Well, its not as if anyone over there understands whats going on in the world, or even cares. We will no doubt be flooded with questions about why he hates America, how long has he been a Muslim, how does he intend to enslave the white people, why doesn't he wear a flag pin made in china why does he want the terrorists to hurt us and why doesn't he want the troops to plant the flag deep, and plant it high, in the deserts of Iraq?

Actually I think that this could be brilliant timing. He could call them out on what's really important here. It will be like a do-over for the ABC debate, only without Hillary chiming in. Obama could reach those Democrats who he is having trouble reaching; possibly the same who would watch FOX. He could appeal to the Repubs that are considering voting for Hillary for that screwed up agenda and possibly win some over. And finally, (slap me for saying this) since Wallace has shown some softness for Obama, there is a chance (slap) that he will be fair to him.

Act ually, i need to add to my comment. This is actually a good thing. The demograohic that he has a hard time reaching is the less well educated group. As a direct result of them being "less well educated" they may find fox news the only news network where they can keep up. they may find msnbc and cnn more difficult to follow. Being that Fox news mostly consist of gossip with a small intermixing of news, they feel like they are educating themselves by watching fox news and, in addition, they can keep up with the dialogue. Since fox news is their only source of news, they only have a negative view of obama and most of obama's statements are taken out of context. He is going to reach out to the network to start positioning himself to deal with mccain. fox news is terrible though...r­eally terrible.

I have great respect for Obama, but this is without a doubt the most serious laps in judgement he has made to date (actually, to his credit, the only "serious" laps in judgment I am aware of).

Boycotting FOX (and their crimes against humanity) is probably the single most important gesture that even comes close to holding this immoral Media Giant accountable for proping up and enabling this Adminstration's crimes and policies.

He is in essence enabling the enablers. He votes against the war and scores a point in principle (as in his vote had virutally no effect other than to show he will stand up against the establishment based on principle and not politics) and then loses a point for enabling the enablers (for strictly political gain... now isn't that ironic?). This last point throws to the wind his principles and (unlike his vote not to send troops to Iraq) has real world concequences.

Obama is only human and this post is meant in no way to detract from his exceptional qualifications to be our President. But his mistake is still a serious one.
