Obama Watch Over

Fox News anchor Chris Wallace says it's been 769 days since Sen. Barack Obama agreed to an interview that never materialized. But this Sunday, the wait is over. According to a Fox News release, Sen. Obama will be appearing on Wallace's "Fox News Sunday" this weekend.

From the press release:

FOX News Sunday's "Obama Watch" to Stop This Weekend

FOX News Sunday host Chris Wallace will sit down for an exclusive one-on-one interview with Democratic Presidential Candidate Senator Barack Obama airing on Sunday April 27, 2008.

This interview follows the much talked about "Obama Watch" clock that FOX News Sunday began running on March 16, 2008 to track the time that had lapsed since Senator Obama accepted Wallace's initiation to appear as a guest: 730 days, 13 hours, 53 minutes and 18 seconds.

The last clock count as of last Sunday was 765 days, 13 hours, 54 min, 47 seconds.

Wallace had started a weekly segment called "Obama Watch" last monthwhen, 730 days since he claims that the senator had agreed to an interview, Sen. Obama still hadn't appeared on the channel. Those many days means that Sen. Obama agreed to the interview in 2006, far before Democratic candidates for the 2008 election famously refused to participate in any Fox News debates.

Although Sen. Obama's camp has yet to release an official statement, Wallace wrote a post hinting that the upcoming exclusive interview may be the result of Sen. Obama's "double-digit loss" in Pennsylvania.

This item has been corrected from a previous version that said Senator Obama refused to appear on Fox News Channel. In fact, Obama has been interviewed on Fox News several times. The Huffington Post regrets the error.

Is such an interview really necessary? We all know how it'll be asses afterward:

"He just didn’t go far enough in answering x, y and z, and theses issues just aren’t going away."

"Obama Watch" was stupid. He should have no problem with Chris Wallace. John Kerry has smacked this guy down pretty easily.

No, whining is when Hellary bitches and moans about the media favoring Obama, whining is when Clinton complains that she always gets the first question, whining is when you blame activists for endorsing another candidate and sabotaging your campaign, whining is complaining about caucus states.

Whine, whine, whine, whine, whine.....would she care for some cheese with that whine?

Any criticism the Obama campaign had of the debate pales in comparison to the tantrums & bellyaching of Clinton & her surrogates for the nerve of the press for simply pointing out the sliminess of HRC's campaign & her constant "flip flop du jours" (i.e. almost daily she changes her story on which votes "count"). Carville, McAuliffe & Bill ("Is my fly still open?") Clinton remind me of crybabies who will kick over the game board because those pesky rules get in the way.

Fox is a horrible, horrible network, but boycotting them was a bad move. His boycotting Fox was one of the things that made me hesitate to vote for him because it shows an unwillingness to talk to the other side. And the people who watch Fox aren't (all) evil. My parents watch Fox all the time--despite my protests--and to them, they just see "oh, this Obama guy won't even go on Fox--who is he exactly? Is he some radical liberal?" SEriously, it is better to just go on Fox and shut them up than to let them define you in your absence.

Your parents are exactly th target market that Hellary and Fixed News pander to. Easily susceptible to innuendo and falsehoods. Instead of watching different stations, doing a little research, they are falling for their drivel hook, line and sinker.

I agree that Obama should go and just get it over with. No reason to give them more fodder.

Before he wallowed in the pig slop of his wife's campaign, Bill Clinton went on Fox & gave it to Chris Wallce right between his eyes. How can Obama hope to talk Iran when he won't talk with the traitors & liars of Fox who are a greater threat to our freedom?

I think by him going on Fixed News, it allows many people skeptical of Obama to hear him out. Most Americans are willing to hear anyone out even with questionable associations. Yes, Wallace will try and bait him with tough questions but I do have to give Wallace credit for calling out his friends at Fox for spending two hours on bashing Obama. Plus, Obama made a promise that he'd do it - and he has to fulfill that promise so the "Obama watch" can end and it makes him look less like he is ducking the media, which is what many are trying to say that he is doing. I also see him talking to O'Reilly in the future, because so many Republicans are dissatisfied with John McCain, that they have been voting for Obama.

Obama has a stammer, which means A speech disorder involving hesitations and involuntary repetitions of certain sounds. He has had it since birth, and has done very well over comming it for the most part, but it is involuntary.

I know you guys probably won't buy into this, but it's worth stating anyway.

Hillary Clinton has been winning ever since she showed up on Fox after Super Tuesday.

I'm just saying.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 12:25 AM on 04/25/2008

she lost 11 primaries in a row after super Tuesday

she lost Mississippi and Montana after the 2nd super Tuesday

and yes those states counts it's her non-strategy in those states that has led to a 160 pledged delegate deficit

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 12:42 AM on 04/25/2008

Only problem is that Hillary hasn't been "winning ever since she showed up on Fox after Super Tuesday." That is unless you count losses in Louisiana, Nebraska, Washington, Maine, DC, Maryland, Virginia, Hawaii, Wisconsin, Texas (the caucus, and the delegate total that is), Vermont, Wyoming, and Mississippi as wins for Clinton.

After Super Tuesday, Clinton was only down by around 40 pledged delegates, and now it's around 140. That sounds like losing to me, but I could be wrong.

Why doesn't FOX replace "Obama watch" with "Iraq watch" with a clock showing how long its been since Bush declared "Mission Accomplished?"

I'm not crazy about the idea, but I think he needs to just go ahead and do it. What can they possibly say about him that they haven't said. I've go confidence in Obama,he can handle those jerks!

they will ask him more details about the "Bitter" comments fom San Francisco. You know how the rest of the media has only focused on the guns and religion part of those comments? Well FOX tends to focus on the part where Obama said "antipathy for people not like them". Fox always describes that part of the comment as where Obama called small town blue collar white people bigots.

So I would guyess when Obama explained his comments after the uproar and tried to say he was talking about people who relied on their good family traditions of religion and guns, Fox will be asking about their good family traditions of bigotry. You know those people that Obama referred to in the past as "Typical White People"
