not to be trivial
but last night on Bill Maher Arianna's hair looked amazing
Ms. Huff - who is doing your color?
Arianna,
Great job with Stossel. Despite ABC's editing your reason and clear thinking shined.
The nature of many of the replies posted here require an apology by proxy to you on their poor behalf. The lack of integrity and manners exhibited by anyone seeking to slander and denigrate another while using that person's dime to do it speaks for itself.
Criticism is one thing. But callow, insolent, personal attacks say more about those initiating them than they do about the people they seek to disparage.
As someone once said, "Those with facts, argue the facts. Those without facts, hurl insults."
Thanks for a forum where freedom of expression offers even the most churlish an opportunity to reply. That, in and of itself, speaks volumes about you dear Lady.
Stossel is an ass. The whole thing was edited with a chainsaw as usual to make Stossle looked smug and superior over his lame and ill-informed victim. I'm surprised Arianna submitted to his tender mercies just to hawk a book.
It's ABC folks.
Would you expect anything else than pseudo intellectual flatulence posing as illuminating discourse?
Mythology, history, science, politics, theology, et al, are all being recast by the hyper-right power elite.
They have the money; the have the government and they have the media.
Eisenhower warned us. Are you really surprised?
My hat is off to AH for even attempting the effort. She knew what would happen.
I'll flip you for it! LOL!
What Ariana calls the 'lunatic fringe' are the heroes of uneducated, under-educated, poorly educated and those who simply need of a great deal of attention. I don't think there is a need to call them names as much as to recognize who they are and whom they represent.
For example, when Bill O'Reilly asks a guest if the Rev. Wright's comment hurt Obama and the guest attempts to expound on his or her answer he cuts him off with the comment:
"Just answer me, do you think he was hurt by Rev. Wright's comments, YES or NO?"
Well, may be the answer is yes he was hurt among less informed voters who listen to your program but not among those who are better informed and understand the roots of black anger in America. And one can go on to make a case like referring to historical facts about Tuskegee Syphilis Experiment then the roots of anger can be more understood within that context.
That's why Obama attracts the better educated voters. If O'Reilly becomes better educated then he is out of business because he will lose his appeal to his audience. So he is really irrelevant and as his audience become better educated about the issues they will no longer be flocking to his show.
Nothing bigoted and biased about those comments is there. Why didn't you just add "typical white people" to the first paragraph?
Are you calling the "typical white person" undereducated?! Gasp.
And your post reveals you to be a bigot.
There's a large Hispanic block that always votes Republican.
Being that you're from California, you should know that.
Then again, those people are invisible to you, aren't they?
Why don't YOU spend more time educating yourself about the issues you obviously don't really care to understand, and less time commenting when you have nothing relevant or insightful to add to the conversation?
obama 'attracts better educated voters', well, in the US, that's a losing proposition unfortunately. Even the educated believe things that are not true these days. Its a sick country due to successful propaganda now embraced as truth, not only these past 8 years but for decades.
Good points.
The damage of Wright's speech is that it projects the message of "I hate white people", the truth or falsity of the subject is besides the point.
As a current Obama supporter, I can say that yes, Wright's tirade is damaging to Obama's campaign and not just with the uneducated.
After Rush's advocacy for the burning of Denver, I'm hoping that it will, in due course, be offset: Hagee + Limbaugh = Ayers and Wright.
To all of you who are inclined to insult Arianna, while benefiting from her website which allows you to spew your views, I want you to know for many females out here, she is a bright beacon of light, strength, & courage.
She knows that the truths she now sees will bring hate & criticism, but she goes on. She knows her sex, her accent, her intelligence is threatening to many with insecurities, but she goes on.
She knows there are strong people in the US who aren't so insecure as to miss her messages, and she goes on.
It's so inspiring.
Thanks Arianna. Keep on going on!!
This interview looks HIGHLY edited (by ABC) to me.
I couldn't agree more. Stossel has her on but attacks her background before she has a chance to speak. This is his 'lunatic' way and has been. Is it any wonder why ABC held the worst of the twenty debates?
“Stossel is correct to question Arianna about welfare reform not working, after all wasn't welfare reform the result of Democrats trying to appease conservatives? How could that not work? It has all of the proper ingredients: Democrats supplicating themselves to their rightful masters, the neocon conservative rulers working to make sure that no one has to think about the poor. It sounds like a win-win to me! Besides, Stossel had a chart! You can't argue with charts. The charts clearly show what Stossel wants them to show and Arianna couldn't refute them. It doesn't matter that Stossel had been preparing for several weeks and had told Arianna that there would not be an ambush-style interview. Where were Arianna's charts? How can I believe somebody that doesn't use charts to back up what she is saying. A chartless Arianna is just not a credible Arianna. And a chart wielding Stossel is all I need to convince me that 7 years of Bush have been great!"
Stossel's amazing steel-trap intellect is too cerebral for us commoners to understand, so it is best summarized in Colbert Logic: "Unemployment is 'downish.' The number of people receiving unemployment benefits is 5.5%. That is down from whatever the higher number was. Of course, if you can't find a job within a certain period of time, you are dropped from unemployment benefits and you are no longer counted as unemployed. Out-of-man
LOL!!! You speak much "truthiness"!
Everyone here is far left . . . does anyone think Bill O'Reilly and Rush have as much power as Arianna thinks they do?
If they have all this power why is John McCain in nominee? Rush rips him daily.
Stossel alwas sounds like such an incredulous whiner. I don't know how he ever became so ingrained in the MSM. Maybe the sheer anoyance factor just makes him perfect.
That segment was not real informative. I was looking forward to some insight from Arianna which is always good but instead got a lot of parroting and one sentence answers which didn't really describe her position at all.
A let down...
Oops...she and Maher (?)
The interviewer is such a condescending ass...
"LUNATIC FRINGE OF THE PRESS"
Good buzzphrase.
Use it well and often.
I wonder if her and Mahr are going to be friends anymore?
Yeah Bill made a really insulting remark to her about "At least I wasn't married to a gay man". THAT was low. I didn't see Donahue do anything to "slap" her down.
Both far right & left are lunatics as both don't make much sense. They are not middle americans.
Problem with middle Americans is they don't make any more sense, they're just not fanatic it about. The United States is in large part the ignorant leading the unintelligble and visa versa. For some reason being informed and educated scares most US citizens. Americans really don't want their children well educated, they want them well trained for employability. Middle America especially so, I just don't understand the it.
There is no "far" left anymore. It disappeared in the early 70s, with the fall of the "New Left". The idea that there is some kind of balance of idiocy is ludicrous. The Left in America is only mildly left-wing; I have yet to hear anyone in the mainstream of the Left call for a complete nationalization of utilities, which would be classic social-democratism. But today's American Left can't even go that far, let alone propose the abolition of private property (which is what defines the Far Left).
There is only this: A centrist Democratic Party, with a mildly Center-Left wing, and a far Right Republican Party, with an extreme right wing. That is the real picture of American politics today.
