Jon Stewart

Jon Stewart turned his attention from the Democratic primary to analyze George Stephanopoulos' interview of John McCain. Stewart hits McCain -- and the media generally -- for the huge discrepancy between questions asked to Obama a week ago and questions asked to McCain this weekend.

The whole thing is worth a watch. If you weren't impressed by Stephanopoulos after his debate performance last week, this probably isn't going to bring you closer to him:

I think broadcast news "jumped the shark" a while ago. When you have Les Moonves saying that "that's the nature of the entertainment business" in relation to news, it's pretty obvious that the networks have lost sight of what news is. The new word is "infotainment", not "news".

Sad to say, this is why someone thought it would be a good idea to put Stephanopolous in a situation where any disinterested observer would immediately see that there would be a strong perception of a conflict of interest, or a showing of bias. Not being able to follow up a weak and strongly criticized performance in the debate with a strong performance in questioning another candidate just strengthens the perception.

In another section, this is the 100'th anniversary of Edward R. Murrow's birth. He must be known as "whirling Ed" at the cemetary.

"infotainment" ??? But there's no "info". More like "driveltainment" or "crapotainment".

Operation mockingbird is in full swing.

So then, you're an ACTUAL Republican? Good to know you're out there in America. The Neo-Con's are dwindling. I am proud to say there a few actual Conservatives in my own family. Good and honest people.

My very republican father feels the same way. And he said he'll never vote for Billary. He feels his party has gone way, way off-track, and if it takes a liberal democrat such as Barack to bring our country back, so be it.

John is the most honest news on TV. I love this guy!

All people who do the news aren't really stupid… they just carry the company line or they would be out of a job. Most don't have leeway to do anything differently than the news writer, director, and producer tells them. But some with clout enjoy being as stupid as they are, most are visible on MSNBC, CNN and Fox.

Just compare this interview with the inquisition that Barcak Obama faced during that so called "debate" !!! The Conventional News Media see us "the public" as consumers of fast food junk news! Their agenda is simply to keep the drama going, to string it alone so they can have this soap opera last all the way till the end of the year. One day they support Obama and attack Hillary... once he seems to be getting too far ahead they switch it around and so on. It is all entertainment now... reality TV at its best... or should I say worst!!!

thats not the reason.

Obama is black. the power elite are white.
they run the country and are corrupt.

they do not want an honest black man to be the president.

it has nothing to do with news entertainment etc etc
its only about fear of losing their power.

thats why sell outs like mccain and hillary aregiven free passes.
Obama is beating the media. both clintons and mccain.

what he is doing is amazing and they are trying to stop him.

"they do not want an honest black man to be the president."

Then they don't need to worry about Barry Obama, who has already proven to have all the credibility of a used car salesman.

Why does it seem like the media can only tell the truth in joke form??

And wasn't that the case in the Soviet Union? Nazi Germany?

I'm not comparing us to those yet. But it is a telling sign when the most reliable people in political commentary are the comedians.

Cheney is set to headline a closed-press reception in a private home in Raleigh, N.C., Monday night."
