This is a fine example of why he's my candidate. And I'll be out there getting people registered to vote just as I did in the primaries.

Now scoring 37, in this sport, is a really good thing. :-)

I live in Berkeley, Ca. and there was supposed to be a team leader and volunteer workshop on Saturday, to get prepared for the GE. But I got the e-mail yesterday saying it was cancelled because of this 50 state voting drive. I think it is wonderful, there are so many people that are republican and Independent that is willing the switch parties if he is the nominee. I can wait; there will be a lot of people shocked to see the number of new Democrats when it’s all said and done. And it will not only be a win for Obama it’s a win for all of the Democrats that's running in the fall.

This shows what a good and thoughtful strategist Obama is and what he means in his speech:

"There are no blue states and reds states but the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA."

It will take all of us in all the 50 states to clean up this mess in Washington and with all the people he has behind him, there will be no more gridlock and the gorvernment will have to listen to all of us!! He won't be perfect, but he is good enough for me to be hopeful and my money is on him.

Silly Hillary is still talking about which states matter. All the states matter. All the people who voted in all those states matter and they want to believe again.

Do you ever notice that those same tired hacks spewing out her talking points on TV are the same ones who was doing the same spewing when Bill was impeached !!! Just asking !!

guess only the "big" states matter, no Hillary??

Question...IF HRC is sucessfull at stealing the nomination, can Obama run as an independent?

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 10:42 AM on 04/25/2008

Sure he could, unfortunately that would probably make McCain President because our voting system doesn't support run offs and the Democratic vote would be split.

Getting registered is no problem!

Republicans are so deeply set Election Boards and in City Halls with Voters Rights they create problems just to reduce the vote.

If you don't believe the above comment is true - just take a look at the Homewood precinct outside of Pittsburgh.

Even if you don't like Obama's policies or him personally (which is hard to believe), you have to give him a lot of credit for getting so many Americans registered and part of the political process. Especially young Americans.

Finally a candidate who really wants people to participate in the political process. This is great.

This is why his experience as a community organizer, the money he raises and the number of volunteers he has is important. Obama can implement Dean's 50 state strategy. Already he has done so much to build the Democratic party in places where it had long considered dead. He can lay the groundwork not just for his own success in November but for many other Democrats in many other places for a long time to come.

Agreed, unless Clinton continues on her heedless, destructive, narcissistic way and succeeds in undermining the rebirth of a progressive Democratic party.

Obama should make a speech in which he politely explains that the general election is on and it's crucial that "friendly fire" attacks stop. While not asking or even suggesting that Hillary step down, he should explain that since it has been conceded by HIllary that even if the Michigan and Florida delegates are seated she cannot win the delegate race, that this race now must move exclusively to discussions of John McCain and how the Democratic Party needs to bring in new people to the process and defeat John McCain.

He should explain that he believes that it is the job of the super delegates to make their decision as soon as possible because it is they- not he or Hillary Clinton that are holding up the final decision. People have to appreciate that it is not Obama's problem that he can't lock this up in a more formal way. He did not devise a system that essentially took approximately 25% of the delegates and allowed them to wait until they individually decided who to support. What a stupid system. If the Super delegates would simply chose now, this entire process would be over now.

It's real simple in the end, Obama and anyone who doesn't want a repeat of the last 7 years has got to get their act together and start the general campaign. Obama's registration drive is a great idea and shows the kind of leadership this country needs.

Aww the advantages of being a Community activist. See how the right experience can come in handy. They are all jumping on him and criticizing him but something no one notices is that he is very shrewd.

According to Clinton, "the states that Barack has won, we won't win in the General". She proved her own point right...she failed to campaign in those states during the primary a she ended up losing them. You would think she would be smarter than that....

Dont you know Hilary will WIN the Presidency with her 16 states including the PR and Guam. Lets not even count that some of them are Republican states like Ok and TN. She doesnt think ahead thats why she LOSING and why she will Lose in the general. I can see her going into the general thinking she is a shoe in because this is the year of the democrats and then she ends up LOSING. I think there is a deception as far as the media thinking that Hilary is strong and smart. No she isnt. Anyone can run a fear ad. It doesnt take intelligence or smarts to do. Obama could have easily done it but he didnt because he is running a different kind of campaign. The question is can she run an effective campaign and so far she is failing. Her message changes she is starting to sound like him on her stump speeches. Its really sad to watch. She has a very confused identity. At least Obama's identity is solid even though they call it marxist, communist etc.

Yup

She has to eat her own words now

And she makes such a big deal out of Penn. when there is a sure possibility that we may lost it in the general. Dukakis won it but lost itin the general

Besides that, he doesnt need PA or Oh which i think he would get anyway. He has Iowa, Illinois, Colorado, Missouri, and possibly North Carolina. They also included red state Va in there since he is ahead and won it pretty good

Awesome! If Clinton were a true leader, this is what she would do. Only a candidate really sure of himself and of his ability to gain his party's nomination (not to mention aware of of his RESPONSIBILITY to be as inclusive as possible, to help re-energize the American electorate) would dare to sponsor this kind of initiative. Sure as hell, ol' McCrazy won't be doing this. Clinton will probably call it a smokescreen, a trick, an illusion, more phony rhetoric, etc - but the truth is that she is too frightened to ever do anything like this. The last thing her campaign wants is more new voters coming into play, whether they vote Dem or Rep, as it will upset her ever shrinking base.

BRAVO, Senator Obama - if you do this, it will be the best thing you've done so far and, I hope, a brave indication of things to come. This is the LEADERSHIP we need as Americans!!!
