WASHINGTON — House Speaker Nancy Pelosi says Sens. Barack Obama and Hillary Rodham Clinton shouldn't share the Democratic presidential ticket unless they really want to.

"No, I don't think it's a good idea," Pelosi said in an interview with CNN talk show host Larry King aired Thursday night.

"I think first of all the candidate, whoever he or she may be, should choose his or her own vice presidential candidate," said Pelosi, who will chair the Democratic National Convention in Denver in August. "I think that's appropriate. That's where you would see the comfort level on not only how to run, but how to govern the country.

"And there's plenty of talent to go around to draw upon for a good, strong ticket. I'm not one of those who thinks that's a good ticket."

But Pelosi added that if Clinton and Obama "think that it's a good ticket, maybe it is. But I don't think that we should thrust the vice presidential choice onto the presidential nominee. That's her or his decision to make."

Pelosi also said she agrees with Democratic National Committee chairman Howard Dean that the nomination should be settled before the national convention.

"I don't want a brokered convention. I think there's too short a time _ maybe just about eight weeks between the end of the convention and the election. And I don't think that's enough time to bring everyone together," Pelosi said.

"I do think that the campaigns have to work their way through this, that we should have all the elections, let the people speak and then we'll find out who our nominee is."

The last Democratic primaries are June 3 in Montana and South Dakota.

Two months ago, I agreed with Nancy (The Accessory to War Crimes) Pelosi about the "Dream Ticket". Now I believe that whoever isn't at the top of the ticket needs to run as Vice President. It's the only way that we can guarantee harmony between the two camps supporters.

I also believe that if Senator Clinton comes very close in North Carolina (5 points or less) and she wins Indiana, that Senator Obama (and I support Mr Obama and contribute money to his campaign)needs to throw his support to Senator Clinton with the understanding that he will be on the ticket.

He's only 46 years old and will one day be President. As much as I have despised the tactics of the Clinton's during the campaign, I know that they are very capable of governing and know how to hire competent people to fill key positions in the administration . And this country needs competentcy MORE THEN EVER.

It would be ideal for supporters of both candidates to adopt a mature attitude about this contest, and would support either candidate enthusiastically in the fall, but that seems to be fantasy at this point. Bringing them together would guarantee a unified party to defeat McCain in the fall.

I wish they would... I'll take that ticket either way.... perhaps Obama and his charisma as a leader should be at the top and Clinton as VP could do the heavy lifting regarding policy. Either way it's a win for the country.

I have to say, I do NOT find the C Campaign to be competent or organized or well-managed.

Outside of the pundits, what voter actually thinks Obama-Clinton or Clinton-Obama is a dream ticket? That's just the worst combination of personalities and skill sets imaginable. It's a silly proposition, reported by the MSM as if it's what citizens actually want. We're not quite as moronic as they give us credit for being ... I hope.

If the two candidates truly had the best interest of their party at heart, they would suspend the race and join hands, with Hillary, being older and wiser in the ways of evil Washington, as the presidential candidate. Eight years later, she and Bill would support Barack. The Dems could conceivably hold the White House for 16 years. But this will never happen because, as Barack's own pastor say, "He's a politician." So is Hillary. As such, their egos must come first.

That would ONLY make sense if Hilliary were winning the nomination - despite all the recent media spin she is STILL NOT winning. She's trying to win on perception and that will only work with the uneducated.

1724 pledged delegates are wrong and 1589 are right?
Where is the land of hugs-and-kisses?
Hillary is a shoe-in!

By your own admission, the difference is 135 delegates out of a pool of 4050, or in other words less than 3%. And that's ONLy if you suppress two large states and disenfranchise 2.5 million voters. If you actually ran this failry and counted MI and FL, you have a difference of about 70 delegates out of a pool of 4500, or less than 1%.

Obama was elected to the senate by default after his opponent dropped out a week or so before. Now he wants the same type of thing. IS teh guy really THAT allergic to actually winning elections? Can we ask McCain to either drop out in November or run teh election by caucus? because that's teh only way Obama has ever actually won anything. In a fair election, just ask Bobby Rush how well Obama actually does.

Pelosi is a joke:

In a press release dated April 24, 2006, Pelosi said, “Democrats have a commonsense plan to help bring down skyrocketing gas prices by cracking down on price gouging, rolling back the billions of dollars in taxpayer subsidies, tax breaks and royalty relief given to big oil and gas companies, and increasing production of alternative fuels.”

Where is the secret plan Democrats? Sure would be nice for you to share your 'commonsense' plan before gas hits $5.

Right, god forbid that the two of them get together-that would actually mean the Dems would win a freakin' election and Pelosi would have to actually do something. Of course, it would only work with Obambi on the bottom. After eight years of learning from the master HRC he will be ready primetime and I will, in 2016, happilty vote for him. Sixteen years of democrats doing good, why not Speaker Pelosi? OMG-what would MoveOn write about then?

Nancy Pelosi has not impressed me with her political wisdom.
Bush should have been impeached, how different things would be.

Yeah the moment the attorney firing scandal broke, impeachment was back on my table

Ah, go on.........after watching our little Hitler, you think Pelosi wasn't threatened with ....g-d knows what if she tried to impeach the little jackass?

Come on,! I guess you still haven't quite gotten the idea we're in a police state right NOW.

I'm just praying that we really CAN have an election before Bush attacks Iran, starts WWIII and declares martial law with himself as dictator for life.

Sometimes I think we're watching a dog and pony show with this "race for the White House". Nobody's paying any attention to what Bush is doing to us while we watch and listen with bated breath for the next "gotcha". It's the ultimate "reality" TEEVEE show.

While Pelosi has never impressed me with her wisdom, there was no possible way for an impeachment trial to work.

1) The House impeaches Bush and Cheney (preferably not in that order). Fine and dandy.

2) The Bill of Impeachment goes to the Senate where the Democrats are actually tied with the Repulsives something like 48-48 with one member out because of a stroke. One of the tie-breakers IS---duh duh duh--Joe Leiberman. Like he's really going to vote to impeach Bush, right.

3) The trial will be presided by the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court who owes everything to--George Bush.

4) After the failed impeachment, we will never be able to nail the Gang of Evil for their crimes because a) Bush will pardon everyone except himself and b) double jeopardy prevents them from going after Bush.

For a conviction of articles impeachment it would require 2/3 of the senate. That's not the point. Impeaching Cheney/Bush would be enough to send a message that there are consequences for not listening to the American people and to stop the war. Impeachment would have been the RIGHT, LEGAL, AND MORAL THING TO DO.

For once - I actually find myself in agreement with Ms. Pelosi,... At least on the part about foisting Hillary Clinton on Barak Obama as a shotgum VP.

How scary a thought is that? Me actually thinking Pelosi is right about something.

The only thing that could make me NOT vote for Obama would be Hillary Clinton on the ticket. Then he will be just another politician running for president. Myself I think there are quite a few MORE experienced less destructive women he could put on the ticket. Perhaps one of these wonderful women governor's he has supporting him.

Good point - I think Sebelius (KS) would be a good choice. I would rather see him take on a VP with some military history (Clark, Webb), and have a soft spot for Kucinich (an actual populist an unabashed liberal) - but Sebelius would be an excellent choice as well.

The whole idea of the "dream ticket" is ludicrous. The fact that media pushed this notion shows how out of touch, whacked out, and retarded they can be.

If the only way to win is by playing the same nasty game as the GOP what's the point? Doesn't that put the same tuype of 'do and say anything to win' type of person in the White House that we've already had. Is it worth winning if you can';t wiun honestly?

You better get over yourself and start thinking about your country if John McCain gets elected ( if we actually HAVE an election)

ANY Democrat is better than what we've had....hell, John McCain may be better than what we've had....unless Joe Lieberman is his running mate!

This is about AMERICA, not your pet peeves and personal fantasies!

As I've told friends when they brought this up...it would be absolutely the worst idea imaginable. Here you have two candidates each with built-in baggage - namely a fairly high percentage of voters that vow they would never cast their vote for them for one reason or another. So when you combine the two you've got almost half the populace that would never go for that ticket at all - and you think you're gonna have a chance?

"As have we all."
Say what? Hello? What "we" are you talkng about?
I didn't corroborate, nor did many, many people. The people with the political power to make decisions about the war collaborated. Don't blame me, please. I demonstrated, wrote letters pleading to stop the war, signed impeachment and end the war petitions- it did not good at all. I wasn't really aware at the time of the "So?" attitude of BushCo, as recently stated so starkly by that shuffling zombie Cheney.
