Rush Limbaugh Sings: "I'm Dreaming Of Riots In Denver"

DENVER (AP) - Conservative talk show host Rush Limbaugh downplayed his "dreaming of riots in Denver" statement, saying that he wasn't calling for riots and was referring to warnings of trouble if super delegates decide the nomination at the Democratic National Convention.

Limbaugh's comments on his syndicated show Wednesday prompted Mayor John Hickenlooper to say: "Anyone who would call for riots in an American city has clearly lost their bearings."

Limbaugh made his comment Wednesday to the tune of the holiday song, "White Christmas," and said riots during the convention would ensure Democrats don't get elected.

Glenn Spagnuolo, an organizer with the protest group Re-create 68, mimicked a comment by state Rep. Douglas Bruce, R-Colorado Springs, by saying: "We don't need another 5,000 illiterate Limbaugh listeners coming to Colorado."

We all know that Rush says things like this to get a rise out of his zombie-like followers - his subculture is akin to the KKK - he epitomizes the ugly American.

The good news is that in a few months his hate rhetoric will lose much of its appeal because Barack Obama will reintroduce America to their better selves, their higher calling - Barack's election to POTUS will mark the end of an era of darkness that has cloaked this land for far too long, an era that produced the likes of Rush Limbaugh.

A stark irony here is that Rush has contributed greatly to his own demise by his vehement opposition to John McCain and subsequent splintering of the GOP vote.

I'm a lifelong Democrat and the truth is Limbaugh (as much as I despise him) sees the potential of the convention taking a turn for the worse. If people on the street and at the convention feel they are being robbed of choice by the party elite, there could very well be violence on the streets.

I think the media, Dean, Pelosi, Reid, and even dear Arianna are making too much out of the Clinton Obama battle.

Let them continue to duke it out and let it be bloody. Obama needs to prove he can court more than the young, the minority, the maverick, and the Republican crossover. He needs to carry the majority of the dirt (counties) in these upcoming primaries or Clinton has made her point; he's another McGovern who will be thrashed come November.

Obama spoke today about energy but fell way short of espousing anything bold. At this point if he can't articulate that vision he really hasn't paid it too much thought.

No one says he has to be an NRA lover, but the next time he's around those who are he should assure them we have enough laws on the books. If anything needs to be further regulated it's too keep firearms out of the hands of the mentally ill.

I listened to Rush's exchange with the woman calling him out on what he said the day before (April 24th). She asked him why he sang it to "White Christmas" and did he mean "White" in some other way? We were traveling by car and listened to several types of talk radio on the way. While driving through Oregon, a show by (I think his name is...) Mike Malloy where he played the whole exchange and it was quite upsetting. Rush said that Democrats deserved to have riots because we "kill our children," and hate America. He said that if there were riots, that real Americans would be afraid to vote for the Democratic nominee. The tone of the show was really over the top. I don't care what he claims, it appeared that he was hoping that some of his crazy listeners would help get the riots started and even worse. This brief clip is nothing. I don't know what the link would be but I am assuming it will be on YouTube or even on his website.

Emailed the Colorado attorney general's office, asking him what he intends to do about this threat. A city official needs to address what Denver intends to do to protect the democratic process, without infringing on first amendment rights.

If the AG doesn’t respond, I think the Democratic party should move the convention to another city. It’s not too late; Minneapolis is already set up for one convention. Or how about New Orleans?
