I Like ItI Don’t Like It

UPDATE: Now that McCain feels it is politically appropriate to bring up Rev. Wright, he has launched a fresh new round of criticism to catch up for his weeks of chivalry. And McCain doesn't let facts get in the way:

"I saw yesterday some additional comments that have been revealed by Pastor Wright. One of them, comparing the United States Marine Corps with Roman legionnaires who were responsible for the death of our savior. I mean, being involved in that. It's beyond belief. And then of course, saying that al Qaeda and the American flag were the same flags. So, I can understand. I can understand why people are upset about this. I can understand why, that Americans when viewing these kinds of comments are angry and upset."

Jake Tapper points out that Wright never actually made those comments about the American flag. And Marc Ambinder notes that, "Wright was in the Marines. He was a corpesman in Vietnam. He voluntarily enlisted."

Meanwhile, even Hillary Clinton is finding fault with McCain's weak performance in halting the North Carolina GOP from running attack ads featuring Wright. McCain declared last week that he would do everything in his power to stop the ad from running.

"I have said that that that was a personal decision of his I answered one question about it that made it clear I would not have stayed in that church under those circumstances," Clinton told reporters in Graham, NC. "But, I regret the efforts by the Republicans to politicize this matter and I believe that if Senator McCain were serious he would do more than just send a letter he is the putative nominee I think he could very clearly tell the North Carolina party tell the Mississippi party that he would not tolerate those kinds of advertisements and I'm waiting to see if he does that."

Sen. John McCain has reversed his position to not discuss Rev. Jeremiah Wright during the general election if Barack Obama is the Democratic nominee. Claiming that Obama has made his relationship with Wright a political issue, McCain now says the topic is fair game.

Mention of Rev. Wright came during a McCain press conference on Sunday afternoon:

"I have said that I will not...have any comment on it and that's because I thought and I believe that Sen. Obama does not share those views" expressed by Wright, McCain said. "But Sen. Obama himself says it's a legitimate political issue, so I would imagine that many other people will share that view, and it'll be in the arena."

The statement came in response to an interview Obama conducted with Fox News Sunday that morning:

JEREMIAH WRIGHT: I felt it was unfair. I felt it was unjust. I felt it was untrue. I felt that those who were doing that were doing it for some devious reasons.

(END VIDEO CLIP) WALLACE: Question: Do you think that Reverend Wright is just the victim here?

OBAMA: No. I think that people were legitimately offended by some of the comments that he had made in the past. The fact he's my former pastor I think makes it a legitimate political issue. So I understand that.

I think that it is also true that to run a snippet of 30-second sound bites, selecting out of a 30-year career, simplified and caricatured him and caricatured the church.

The Obama camp has responded:

"By sinking to a level that he specifically said he'd avoid, John McCain has broken his word to the American people and rendered hollow his promise of a respectful campaign. With each passing day, John McCain acts more and more like someone who's spent twenty-six years learning the divisive, distracting tactics of Washington. That's not the change that the American people are looking for."

glad to know that, now HAGEE and PARSLEY are fair game with their hate of muslims and catholics. There go the catholics and muslims over to the democratic side of the race. LOL!

What is wrong with Catholics and Muslims?

nothing, John McCain just sold them out - he wants to condemn Wright, he has his own controversial pastors to contend with - Parsley has made disparaging remarks against muslims and Hagee calls the Catholic church the whore of Babylon. That will come up against McCain regardless of who the nominee on the democratic side is - he just opened up that door for the games to begin.

Hagee and Parsley have always been fair game. Lunacy is lunacy, no matter whether one calls himself a Christian - pardon, christian - a moslem or a liberal atheist.

This morning I have seen people that can't get over it., like some in this website. This, for political reasons only. I'm half white, and did not feel no offense at all. Some people just don't get him. I merit them with an "IDIOT AWARD". He spoke the truth. To many the truth hurts. Stop trying to get words from this speech now and start cutting off like before. This have to stop, if you're going to play or say something like that, then finish what he refers to. Don't do what they have done before with the other snippets. I thought he was on point today and didn't need to hide anything. If the media doesn't like that, then when will this stop? Leave the man alone, not all will agree with him, especially at this political time, it's obvious. Its 2 against one, you can't make polls about this but it's still 2 against 1. McCain's people and Hillary's people and those that just don't like him. Don't you think that's unfair? It's obvious to get more negative responses, they want this to keep going on even if it ruins a man's life.

I listened all the way to the period at the end of the last paragraph, and I think the Reverend Wright is like a solid gold life-preserver.

The only satisfaction that we, the disenfranchised, might take from the media's foaming over McCain is that if and when His Dodderness becomes Chief, he will show them his true side and be buddy buddy no more, making them buddyfucked royally.

The Rev Wright coming out and showing his intellect, his loving heart and his devotion to God's word is the best thing that could have happened to Obama. The good people of this country who have heard the Reverend in full context know that this is a great teacher and a generous and good man. The trolls who are so active in this blog are out to push their own agenda of hate and racist dogma. I think Obama should embrace the Reverend in a public way. To be identified with the Reverend is a net positive.

jhink thank you for your efforts in supporting john for president. your comments in favor of ' hate america' wright are lifted right from the elitist snob playbook. as adlia stevenson was told by his campaign chairman after losing a presidential election .SIR,DON'T BE SAD. YOU GOT THE VOTE OF EVERY THINKING VOTER'. yes he replied, that's how i lost. so please keep up the good work.

You're welcome, tutmoo.

Enjoy this time as we build strong bases in the remaining states-- you'll look back on these days and want to relive them. In due time Senator 100-Years-Is-Fine-With-Me will be soiling his Poise Pad on a regular basis. McSame has a LOT to run from and very little to run on.

Have you noticed how many new Democrats have been registered during this scuffle? Whether it's Obama or Hillary on our side, the geezer you're running will be thinly sliced and diced.

Well after digging deeper and reading the man's words----I agree. And i called for Obama to distance himself from Wright. Well while i choke on all those crow feathers here.....(wretch, cough.......gag..........). I think there will be a time of reconciliation and it should be to bring this party together. I believe Wright is one of the right people to lead this.............

He's coming out with his loving heart? How can he in that gigantic new mansion in San Francisco? Jeremiah's got at least as much money as any other liberal elitist. I often wonder why people like Jeremiah are not called "oreos". That term was never too controversial when it is applied by liberals to Condi Rice or Colin Powell

John McCain has proven once again that he will change according to what he thinks will help him get elected.

For someone who that was the "victim" of race baiting at the hands of none other that GEORGE W. (when the Rove crew made calls and baited white Republicans with the idea that Mccain had fathered a "black child" very one party used the issue of race), you would think that he of all people would never go there!

For someone that was a POW, you would think that he would NEVER switch his position with respect to torture!

For someone to speak out against tax cuts for the wealth but now change in order to appeal to his base....IS WRONG!

For his to promise New Orleans that the governement will never fail them again now that it is election time....IS WRONG.

But we can say that he is atleast consistant when it comes to constantly changing, so his position today with respect to Wright should carry little weight because hell, he might just change again tomorrow.

THOSE ARE NOT THE CHARACTERISTICS OF A LEADER.....Call it what it is.... McCain is a GREAT FOLLOWER!

Or is his faith just an accessory, one that he wouln't defend if push came to shove.

HLMerkin - there are sites online that will be happy to explain that Epissssscopalianism used to be Catholic Lite before it just chucked out the Gospel and became the Church of Liberal mummery. Baptists are not liturgical - is that oo big or too unfamiliar a word for you? Well, check a dictionary or, expend your brain cells and read for yourself.

The so-called “liberal media” destroys the character of Democratic candidates for President time and time again.

Bush over Gore?

Bush over Kerry?

Gore and Kerry are two very intelligent qualified men that would’ve made great Presidents.

But look who’s been in the White House for the past 7.5 yrs!!!

If AlGore were president during 9/11 he wd still be wringing his hands and running around like a chicken with its head cut off. Not only that, AlGore wd be doing it in the dark so he could save his carbon footprint (while owning a company that pretends to erase it). It wd be kinda fun watching Gnostic Al - pardon, Albigensian Al - trying to use the bully pulpit to preach his recycled "hate humanity" religion. Gnostics are with us always since there are always a lot of self-loathing humans who are lunantic enough to want to rub out the rest of us.

I am disgusted and dismayed by the egotistical rantings of "pastor" Wright. "Pastor" means shepherd and a good shepherd lays down his life for his sheep. Wright is ruining a great candidate's chances of being elected president. Although I detest negative campaigning, I think it might be necessary at this point to reveal some of the considerable skeletons in the Clintons' closet.

The establishment media is setting up the destruction of Obama.

Then they will destroy Hillary, thus making way for the McCain Presidency.

The establishment media setting up to destroy the Obamarama? HO HO HO! Like Time Magazine gone green? Or NBC which has become the Obamarama channel? You have your head up your cloaca. The Billary had the media in its pocket for 8 years - TV networks, newspapers and other periodicals really out to present both sides dispassionately. That doesn't happen any more. Liberals are scared of morality and fear they will have to toe the line once again. Rev Jeremiah is doing his best to destroy the Obamarama - milk the moment. He's no fool - he figures he owes the Obamarama no loyalty.

Reverend Wright is on the side of peace and justice. His cause is a just cause.

If Obama is offering us "change" and "hope", he must find a way to adopt the basic message of Wright into his politics. Wright is not obliged to twist the truth to accommodate Obama's policies and ambitions.

The cause of peace and justice is bigger than Obama.

I support Obama only because I see him as a better vehicle than the other two to travel the path to peace and justice.

No. Reverend Wright should keep on doing what he is doing. Politicians come and go. The truth prevails. The fight for peace and justice must go on with or without Obama.

If the Rev. Wright is "air game for McCain, then McCain's crazy preachers are fair game for the Democrats -- the Rev. Hagee and the Rev. Alpha or whatever it was. McCain's trying to weasel out of his preacher problem by saying that he didn't attend the churches these nut jobs hold forth in. But he did actively seek their endorsement knowing who and what they were. And they endorsed McCain because they think it's likely that he'll carry out their insane agenda of apocalyptic war in the MIddle East. That is much worse than Obama attending a church where he did NOT hear Wright say any of the handful of comments that got him in trouble with the corporate media.

True, but McCain operates under a handicap, he isn't too bright.

Wright joined the marines during the Viet Nam war when he had a valid student deferrment, unlike Cheney who did everything he could to avoid military service and Bushie who was just a coward. He criticized America for its OBVIOUS failings. Big deal, when America is wrong the job of an American is to point out where it went wrong to make it right. A patriotic American does not pretend everything is great while allowing America to deterioriate. You know, like Bushie and McCain.

Right Annette - McCain isn't too bright. As an officer, he was given a chance to leave the Viet Cong jungle prison and the dumb sap decided to stay with his men instead. That just isn't bright at all! Instead it is heroic. And you, Annette, have your head up your cloaca where things aren't bright at all.

Don't hate the messenger (Rev. Wright), hate the message?

1932
The Tuskegee Syphilis Study begins. 200 BLACK men diagnosed with syphilis are never told of their illness, are denied treatment and die from syphilis, although could have been treated.

1935
After millions of individuals die from Pellagra, the director of the agency admits it had known for at least 20 years that Pellagra is caused by a niacin deficiency but failed to act since the deaths occurred within BLACK populations.

1970
Biological agent techniques are USED TO PRODUCE AIDS-LIKE retroviruses designed to eliminate SPECIFIC ETHNIC GROUPS.

1978
Experimental Hepatitis B vaccine trials, conducted by the CDC, begin in New York, Los Angeles and San Francisco. Ads for research subjects specifically ask for promiscuous homosexual men.

1981
First cases of AIDS are confirmed in homosexual men in New York, Los Angeles and San Francisco, triggering speculation that AIDS was introduced via the Hepatitis B vaccine

1990
Over 1500 six-month old BLACK and HISPANIC babies in Los Angeles are given a measles vaccine that CDC later admits that the parents were never informed of it being experimental.

1994
Dr. Garth Nicolson at the MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, TX discovers that many returning Desert Storm veterans are infected with an altered strain of Mycoplasmaincognitus, and its molecular structure is 40 percent of the HIV protein coat, indicating that it had been man-made.

So does Rev. Wright speak the truth? Well?

That may be true but I always find it to be more beneficial, in the long run, to be a realist and dig for the facts as opposed to just believing what I want to believe.

I'd rather call red, red and not maroon. I'd rather call brown, brown and not beige but there are those who will try to make you believe that gold is green, and they just don't care that gold is not green, they'll still try to make you believe so... and if you don't believe them, then you are no good!

I'm just your above-average white metrosexual, and a helluva lot of what Rev. Wright makes a lot of sense to me.

This noise is all about fanning hysteria and distraction. I suspect when more Americans, even the Toby Keith 'Big Dog Daddy' crowd (as they, daily, lose their jobs) hear the full text of what the man says, they will find themselves agreeing with Reverend Wright, and not the Gang of Perverts (GOP).

Faux news always distorts. They feed on emotions and fury... and indignant, entitled egos. Their job is to keep the 'hoi polloi' -- as they see them -- 'identifying with the aggressor'.. i.e. getting them to vote against their own best interests.

I watch Jeremiah Wright give his entire speech to the NAACP last night - on Fox. He's a highly educated and extremely savvy person. He manipulates his audiences in a very professional manner. I give him lots of credit. He's good at it. Problem is, noam, is that idiot sheep like you are in his congregation. You're led by the media to love and hate, without any help from your brain. Just like Jeremiah's church. They come for the show, not the Faith. But that's okay - jerkoff liberals can't tell the difference anyway - they used to love Hillary till the media turned on her for the Obamarama.

To those who say Rev Wright should shut up: You people are getting it all wrong. What we should be doing is getting everyone to actually listen more to Rev. Wright. Fair minded people will see that he isn't what the media is making him out to be. The only people who won't change their minds after actually seeing his sermons (the full versions) and listening to his interview with Moyers and his last set of speeches are those who would never vote for Obama anyway. I feel that the more the media can be showed up as being so hypocritical, the better for Obama.
And don't forget, McCain has his own pastor(s) problems. Once the GE campaigning starts, can you imagine the effect of pounding McCain with it? The Repubs won't be able to cry fowl since if they do, we can slam them for being two-faced.
