Latarian Milton

Seven-year-old Latarian Milton decided to steal his grandma's Dodge Durango because he was "mad at [his]mom" and because it's "fun to do bad things." Along for the ride? His friend who "smokes with cigarettes".

It's not all fun and games for Latarian, though. While his punishment suggestion was "no video games for a whole weekend", according to CNN.com, he is also facing grand theft auto charges. Speaking of which, let's hope he doesn't get his hands on Grand Theft Auto IV, released today.

It really is fun to do bad things. That's why so many men do Ann Coulter.

So Latarina was out for a joy ride .... even though he is not of age for a Driver's License, nor of age to get Car Insurance, nor is he of age to own a car. But I bet anyone his driving abilities performed alot more better than of those who are adults that goes out drinking and then drives. Sure, it shows he's not growing up in a great environment that teaches him to be more disciplined within his natural surroundings, a kid with no father figure perhaps, nor a mother who teaches him right from wrong. This just clearly shows that, this is the direction to where a country is going because the politicians are more worried about corporate interests and their bank accounts, even at a time of war. They could of done better things with their war money, such as give a kid like Latarian a better living environment, not nooooooooooo .... that didn't happen.Remember now, oppression is a dysfunctional disease brought to you, by the country's political infrastructure.

This kid's got some of the qualities and tendencies of Your Typical ReThugLieCon.

Now if only he was white (or Clarence Thomas), he'd be afforded the opportunities to hone his craft.

Of course you do! You have no father and your mother is barely 14 years older than you!

Rock on!

There's a difference between child abuse and a good spanking for being bad. One is a crime, the oher education. Too bad the law doesn't make the difference.

Where exactly is the proverbial line between the two.

Good for him. There's no rule of law in this country anymore. We all might as well follow the lead from US politicians and just do what the hell we want.

Spending a night, or two, with Tyrone in D-Block would do wonders for this young lad !!!

There are millions of Americans who think prison rape is just part of the punishment for getting convicted. Sick!!!

After reading some of the comments here I have to say......a 7 year old that thinks it is fun to do bad things has more problems then a spanking or mollycoddeling will solve. If this were a one time occurance or if he even felt bad about what he had done I might have a different opinion but the news clip I saw showed that he was a smart a** even after getting caught. Saying he is only 7 is not helping him, spanking him will probably not solve the problem either. This child needs some serious counseling and his parents need their a**es kicked for being lousy parents. Good parenting does not result in 7 year old juvenile delinquents. (unless he has a serious personality disorder)

I see no respect for authority in this child. There's no appreciation of right or wrong.

I don't know if sociopathic personalities emerge at this age, but I'm guessing not many do, which means he's probably not one. I do know that kids mimic what they see. I'd bet he's surrounded by kids and adults who act the way he's acting and talk the way he talks. I'm sorry but no tanned backside is going to save this kid now. The cops did the right thing by charging him and getting him under some kind of supervision. He's obviously not getting any at home.

Actually, symptoms of serious personality disorders, such as antisocial personality disorder *can* emerge at a young age, often in the form of conduct disorder. Antisocial personality disorder: "The essential feature for the diagnosis is a pervasive pattern of disregard for, and violation of, the rights of others that begins in childhood or early adolescence and continues into adulthood" (DSM-IV, 1994). While APD can't be diagnosed until age 18, those who receive the diagnosis often have a history of conduct disorder (in which the child may demonstrate behaviors such as cruelity toward animals and people, lying, truancy, vandalism, and stealing).

I'm not saying that his parents aren't enabling, irresponsible, or a bad influence (they may be), but it seems to me that this boy has underlying psychopathology that requires treatment--not punishment--at a young age.

Whats wrong with children these days >< we need a positive influence like obama who has influenced me to know that it doesnt matter what your race is or what your look like or what your name is that you can still become anything you want in america maybe a good inspiration is what children need these days some one they can look up to.

Check out the site http://detentionslip.org for all the stories that students are getting in trouble for at schools. It seems things are a little different than even 10 year ago!

I think this boy should be forced to think long and hard about his actions. And after that then maybe, MAYBE, he can get back to playing GRANDSON THEFT AUTO!

HATE TO SAY IT...

But I can perfectly imagine pulling that kind of shit when I was seven. I won't go into everything we did, but it included smoking (we were just buying the cigarettes for our parents), drinking (you're never too young to start), and blowing up mailboxes with cherry bombs (first, you pop the cherry bomb inside, then slam the mailbox shut and run like hell!) I won't even go into what we did to parked cars on Halloween, but one time we got chased by men with shotguns. And when it came to sex ed, well, suffice it to say, we "educated" ourselves. If you think growing up in semirural America is like "Stand by Me," have another think. And no, folks, I have no criminal record -- in fact I have a doctorate and pull down a pretty respectable corporate salary. So go easy on the kid!

The problem is that this kid doesn't have the requisite color in this country to pull those kinds of pranks and keep a clean record for one, and if he continues, chances are his life will be cut short.

benten - Color has nothing to do with it. This kid is a psycho-freak and loving every minute of it. His behavior will only get worse. By the way, do you think he'll give a shit about his police "record" now or in the future. Actually, yes, because To this kid, having a rap sheet will be a source of pride.

You don't "hate to say it" - you are fronting and it's weak.
A child being a fool is never an excuse for parents who aren't doing their jobs.
Any child who is not more afaraid of their mom than they are of the police, well...
And how many childrn do you have?
Heard of karma?

Pala - To this kid, a "good thing" means being a thug and terrorizing his neighborhood. Don't pity this kid, because he seems on his way to making many others miserable, and loving every minute of it.
