Did North Carolina Governor Use Gay Slur In Front Of Clinton?

Pansy? Standing next to Clinton, her top surrogate in North Carolina actually used the word "pansy" this morning.

After touring a bio-manufacturing training center, Gov. Easley, First Lady of North Carolina Mary Easley and Clinton held a ceremony at NC State University. The Governor formally expressed his support saying that there was "nothing I love more than a strong powerful woman." Easley concluded his remarks saying Clinton -- "makes Rocky Balboa look like a pansy".

In case anyone has been living under a rock, pansy is slang for "fag."

As a North Carolinian, I can tell you that pansy is synonymous with homo, faggot, gay or queer. No question, it has no other meaning down here.

We'll I don't think the word is appropriate used in N. Carolina because of the meaning. We are trying stop children in our schools by callin each other such names. Untill the adult understan it is innapropriate ( especially leaders who deals directly with schools, and children) than niether will the name calling that leads to other name calling that leads to bullying among our children! Myself I'm not affended by it at all! But I'm dealing with bullying now in the schools, and this is front and center and a real problem. So lets keep it away from our children and watch what we say were children are present. LOL

Easley will be retiring after this year. There is zero political risk for him in either his language or his candidate. Why else would allow a sitting governor to support someone who does not carry anything close to majority support?

That he permits himself words like "pansy" means he cannot exit soon enough.
