Grand Theft Auto Iv Launches To Rave Reviews
Grand Theft Auto Iv launched today, and it is expected to shatter video game sales:
The super-violent, action-driving game "Grand Theft Auto IV" hit stores Tuesday for both the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3 game systems, and D.C.-area retailers were ready for the sales rush.
Hours after the video game's midnight release, local retailers predicted a week of strong sales."There is no question this is a huge product on the Xbox and PlayStation 3," said Matt Wallace, assistant manager at GameStop in Tysons Corner Center. "We've had a lot of buzz and excitement beforehand, and having seen what the first 15 hours were like, I anticipate that it's going to be very big this week. I'd say this is the biggest title of the year to date and nothing bigger is on the horizon. I've had customers saying they've reserved their copy since June of last year."
Analysts predict first-week sales to near 6 million units, or $360 million, exceeding the record $300 million for the first week of Microsoft Corp.'s "Halo 3" last year.
Grand Theft Auto Iv has received rave reviews.
