Kellyanne Conway, MSNBC Guest, Calls Hillary Clinton "Chief White Woman" In America

This afternoon on MSNBC, Republican strategist Kellyanne Conway and Democratic strategist Keith Boykin were discussing Barack Obama and Jeremiah Wright, when Conway made a startling declaration, calling Hillary Clinton "the chief white woman in this country." Her full statement:

"The person who has criticized them is Hillary Clinton. Hillary Clinton has been criticizing Barack Obama and Jeremiah Wright. and I think that's the real issue, I think that's why Barack Obama had to push back. She is the chief white woman in this country, calling into question Jeremiah Wright's bonafides and she has made that issue on the campaign trail. Republicans aren't saying much about it at all, including John McCain. He had one thing to say about it early on."

Boykin immediately objected and Conway attempted to explain her statement, but a very wise Tamron Hall interrupted them and cut to commercial as fast as she could.

According to the African-American Reverend who just spoke with Meredith Viera on "The Today Show", the black community is still very supportive of Senator Obama.

His feeling is that the black community sees it that Senator Obama has to do this, and Reverend Wright's ego was a problem.

I think the Reverend is going to be on "Morning Joe" in a few minutes also.

Wright made it very easy for Obama. That's the word in various AA conversations. Many church members and AA pastors throughout the country pleaded with Wright not to embark on his media tour.

What's amazing to me is that people like this are the only ones making a deal about gender in this primary. This whole primary seems to be comprised of two folks race baiting the most popular one (which is probably why race is such a big deal) into defending himself as a means of picking up the ignorant racist vote.

That'd work, if the entire country were the Ozarks. It won't hold ground in the general, and you can bet another 50/50 election EVEN THOUGH the Republicans aren't exactly en vogue these days. But basically, if either of these candidates win a primary/election after race baiting, I'm sure the American people should feel "proud" of itself for rewarding people for using racially divisive tactics. And anyone who voted for those 2 candidates who utilize racism deserves nothing more than an all expenses paid trip and unprotected tour of Iraq, too. I'm an African-American woman and I know what she meant. She's right. She was referring to Hillary's sense of entitlement - meaning if she "as the chief white woman of this country" says Wright is an issue, it should be an issue. I think she was trying to say that Hillary, would like to set the tone for how other caucasian women respond to Obama and Rev. Wright (but mostly Obama).

Is Hillary Clinton's sense of entitllement different from Wright's? Do you mean to say that if Wright says something is true then all African Americans and blacks take their direction from him. Isn't that somewhat shallow to think that the issue of Wright is just because Hillary is creating it. Whites are certainly more diverse than blacks and we can make up our own minds about which issues are important to us. It's the job of the politician to sense those issues and address them to the satisfaction of the voters they're courting. Obama is not going to be elected by the African American community.
