Cities Abandoned By Airlines

ABC News:

Nightmare Scenario #1: You've got your briefcase in hand, boarding pass in pocket, and your carry-on rolling behind you. You head to the airport with confidence. Except -- there are no planes there.

Nightmare Scenario #2: You jump in a cab, heading to the airport; you know your airline is there, so no worries about any missing planes. The only problem is, your cab ride to the nearest airport with flights takes four hours.

Now, maybe, we'll get some good trains?

Train travel in this country is random at best, some are great, sometimes, and others? Yet in most other industrialized countries trains are the best, if not the only, way to travel.

No time to make all the people move to cities and let the famers have the rest of the country.

No need for travel excpet by bus and use web cams for everything else.

Just stay in your little areas and eat soylent green and drink recycled water lol

No sense in asking Bush to fix it...he has said he doesn't have a magic wand about a hundred times now.

Ya gotta give the man credit, though - he does have some magic.

He started a war based upon the possession of WMDs....and Poof! The WMDs pulled a disappearing act.

He took the world's largest and strongest economy, oft-described as "the 800-pound gorilla"...and Poof! Turned it into a rabbit....

He took America's faith in its leaders...and Poof! Made that disappear....

He took energy prices....and Poof! Made them quadruple...

lolll...and last but not least, he took the world's respect for America....and Poof! Turned it into derision...

This may be the utlimate in cynicism--but I think that as president-it was George Bush's task to do whatever he could to fuck the country up and in that----man, oh, man--he was a big success!!!!

As far as the topic is concerned----I am sure that this person's take on the subject is pretty much correct----if you live in a far-flung area or even a smaller metro area----you are very likely to loose airline service.

That is ok--unless I am taking a trip that driving is simply not at all feasible--I no longer fly---I drive----that has to do with all of the Homeland Security/TSA bullcrap and the way you get treated like crap when you fly by the airlines today---it sure ain't fun to travel by air like it once was----any romance there was to it left the house a long time ago!!
