CBS:

Chicago friends of the Rev. Jeremiah Wright and Sen. Barack Obama say both men are simply sad following a controversy and eventual falling out that came to a head Tuesday. Just how did the battle of wills play out behind the scenes?

CBS 2 Chief Correspondent Jay Levine reports Obama felt betrayed and Wright felt sand-bagged. Father Michael Pfleger of St. Sabina Church said he has been speaking to both men as the events of the past 24 hours unfolded.

Trust me, they won't let this go. If they were to talk about the issues Americans would realize that John McCain isn't the maverick he claims he is. This is getting ridiculous and if people are not going to vote for him because of Reverend Wright then we are really in trouble.

"It's clearly a big deal now. The polls already show that. Though a whole lot can happen between now and November. Obama, if he survives and wins the nomination, can only hope other issues will make voters forget about Rev. Jeremiah Wright."

Yeah how about those other issues.... the war... health care... education..

NAH, let's talk about a pastor.

Let's not talk about Rev. Wright any more. Let's talk about Tony Rezko.

Rev is a really smart guy- that much is irrefutable but his ego has begun to dominate his logic. People have been increasingly concerned about his political rants and the fact that they begun to dominate his sermons, and some friends have left the church during the past year because the sermons were not as positive as they once were (I have not attended a service there for 3 or 4 years). I was talking on the phone with my girlfriend in disbelief at Rev's antics during the press club q&a session. His prepared statements I did not find too incredibly problematic (blaming Katrina on gays more far fetched in my mind than blaming aids on the gov't but clearly both notions are loony) - but when he took ANONYMOUS questions from God knows who it was a clearly a losing proposition. Wright's antics and bafoonery did not help the situation. Bravo, Hillary supporter, for inviting him to such an ambush, and Bravo Rev for allowing your ego to get in the way of the most important political movement of the last 40 years!!

I am so sorry this man (Obama) is going through this crap. I know that he should get used to it. But geez....this is his religious pastor. Some things should be given a little more respect and understanding.

Hang in there SEnator Obama, we love you! I know these must be difficult times for you and Rev Wright. I do not like to see you two pitted against each other, but I think you did the right thing. Lift your head and be strong!

OK... I'm guilty... But from this point forward I refuse to read or click on any story that mentions Wright.

Stop feeding this story... Boycott articles, post or blogs about the Rev.

Some people are SO ignorant ... just follow the herd (Wright) even if he goes over a cliff (which he has!) ... I'm from Chicago and know people who attend Trinity, and guess what??? Barack absolutely did the right thing; Rev. Wrong made an A$$ of himself on TV all last weekend, and I'm glad Barack formally & publically (and finally!!!) distanced himself from this nut case!
NEWSFLASH: As our next president, I doubt Barack will have time to go back to the south side of Chicago every Sunday for church, anyway!!!

Thanks. It's nice to hear from someone local (Chicago) who has some perspective.

STOP THE DRAMA! NO MORE OBAMA/WRIGHT STORIES... The Wright story only has the power and energy the media AND the viewers give it.

I agree ... but HuffPost, MSNBC, CNN, Fox and all the other MSM outlets just won't let it go because they want Hillary Huckabee to win. That's why they keep this non-story alive.
But it won't work because the math is on our side!!! Obama WILL be the next president!!!

Hillary supports gay rights. Huckabee doesn't believe gay people exist. So answer this, does Hillary and Huckabee appear to be the same person if you're a gay person concerned about your rights?

Oh, yeah: HuffPo TOTALLY wants Hillary to win. That's why they run 10 or 15 anti-Hillary rants a day -- it's the old reverse-psychology trick.

In this day and age when there are men of God fighting for your tithe....Obama should not think twice if they are saying stuff like he is not welcome there anymore....the church has caused america and obama a heartache...heck i will minister to him and his family myself if it comes to that. Can i get a halleluyah to that!!!! Amen!!!!!!!!!!!

In every age men who claim to be of God are only fighting for your tithes.

my point being the plurality of the word "men'. Why bother about one if there are more than one.
