Clinton Base

ABC News:

Hillary Clinton campaigned Wednesday in Indianapolis, on the same day that Indiana superdelegate and former Clinton supporter Joe Andrew announced he was switching his allegiance to Barack Obama. Clinton says she's not worried about Joe Andrew's endorsement of Obama....

Clinton called her base of support "broader and deeper" than Obama's, and said, "At the end of the day, that's what it should be about for Democrats. You know, it is who can better win. And I've won the big states. I've won the states that we have to anchor. If we had the Republican rules, I would already be the nominee."

The subtext of her message is insulting and disgusting:

"broader and deeper" = "whiter"

That's exactly what she is saying.
The Democratic Party is paying the price for pandering to right wingers.
If we had a working class party, there would be unification and a hrc wouldn't even get in the door.
As it is, THIS is the 3rd Election that the Party directorate has chosen,.....not a questionable candidate, but almost a guaranteed loss for the Democratic Party.
Party criticism is WAY over due..............ALL the backers of joe lieberman needed to go years ago.............That is the real reason why we lost in 2000........not the gays,.........not abortion,.......but the Party thinking the BASE would go along with one of the MOST right wing militarists (then) in the Party............and hrc is the new lieberman.......not this time sweetie.......some of us see a real problem with winking at the rascists among us.

Hillary should have raised her concerns about the Democratic Party's system of allotting votes proportionally instead of the winner-take-all format before the start of the nomination's race. She thought she had this thing wrapped up by Feb 5th and the system was fair to her then. Well, life throws curve balls at you, it is how you deal with those curve balls that shows your true character. Hillary is now taking a very unprincipled stand and is denouncing the system because it does not favor her efforts to win the nominating race. One should never compromise his/her principles in order to gain the world.

No, Hillary. If this were the GOP, some gray-headed white man who smells funny would be the nominee. You'd never have a chance.

TO ALL THE OBAMA SUPPORTERS:
Since the media is refusing to reveal/report the Paul vs Clinton fraud case in court right now, we need to create our own movement and flood every blog on CNN and every blogging website on the World Wide Web with information from the case regardless of what the topic is. For those that don't know - Google Paul vs Clinton and hold on to your shirt with what you read!!
For those of you who think this case has been thrown out or is irrelevant:
"In the landmark civil fraud case against Bill Clinton in Los Angeles, where the former President is charged with defrauding a Hollywood dot com millionaire to help Hillary Clinton obtain more than $1.2 million from him for her 2000 Senate campaign, Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Aurelio Munoz ruled on Friday, April 25, 2008 that Hillary Clinton would not be required to testify in a sworn deposition as a material witness in the case until AFTER the November election!." (paulvclinton.com)
Here is the kicker - the judge is a Bill Clinton appointee!

Clinton is correct. The DNC has put a process that nominates the weaker candidate. Clinton has run stronger in the Electoral College against Obama for months against McCain and yes, if the DNC process were like the Republicans she would in fact already have clinched the nomination.

The 800 gorilla in the room that the Obama campaign arrogantly ignores is that the Republican Process is most like the general election that actually elects the President. For all the cheerleading around Obama, it is as if the DNC put on a tournament to find the best checkers player in the party. Then they enter that person into a Chess match.

Nice.

Are you kidding me!! Al Gore won the popular vote in 2000, but still lost the presidency. The General Election is based on the Electoral Collage system; which is similar to the Democratic party's proportional system.

Dude exclaiming your ignorance in such a fashion does not mean you are 100% wrong.

Everyone knows that the Electoral College process is a winner take all primary system except for a couple of small states.

The Democrats on the other hand use a proportional system, not winner take all, and it is biased toward previous elections, not the actual vote so it over counts in some places and undercount in others. In addition, there are no real caucuses in the general, which due to excessive flip/flopping and coercion in the process, could actually count a vote for a candidate as against, a swing of two votes.

Finally, just for this year the DNC has decided that one vote in FL and MI equals to no votes on the order of 2.3 Million. They could have forced a revote but did not and thus they violated another basic democratic principle, beside majority rules, but also the one-person one vote.

Check your facts before you post.

no, the electoral college is very different from the way the dem's nominate. wiht the exception of ME and NE, electors are chosen "winner take all"...in the 'democratic' party, you can win a majority of delegates in a given state while losing the pupular vote in that state-witness nevada-and we don't need to go into the 'texas two-step'...

the dems, being focused on incusiveness and process, wind up nominating candidates without due consideration of the electoral math...the reupukes want to win the damn election, so they tailor their selection process closer to the electoral college model...which is why we keep losing elections to them

I guess she could be right but it has not translated into money financing her campaign. Why is that? It seems to me that we, as a nation, are not ready for anything other than a dirty campaign filled with vitriol and personal attacks. Once HRC started doing that her win quotient picked up. The appeal to the primitive fear of anyone who looks different than us really helped her turn the corner.

This campaign is a bloodfest, at times a bloodletting, and resembles greatly a night at the WWF or a juicy soap opera....filled with sex, lies, and innuendo. We are all glued to our tv's for the next sucker punch to Obama. We are drinking the kool-aid because the fact that statistically HRC has all but lost this race is completely ignored and Obama is dealt with as if he is trying to come from behind. What in the world is in that kool-aid?

Did she say this on Wednesday, or is this the statement she made a couple of weeks ago?

Hillary, we DO have the Republican rules--in the Republican Party. You really seem to admire the Republicans. You tout McCain's credentials, copy his gas tax idea, and talk about how much better their rules are than ours. If you like them so much, you should run as one next time. I think you'd be a lot happier.

There is a special place in hell for clinton and i've moved from "dislike" to "rabid hatred" based on her character in this campaign. This 'broader base' and other illogical crap is just a constant middle finger to all of us who have been "blessed" with the gift of simple, rational thought capacity.

That said, the point the hag was trying to make was that rich people have a vested interest in promoting a strong middle class. I think they should be pounded, but her point is fine.

So, does that mean that poor people deserve to be poor, Hillary? Sounds elitist.

I agree and have been saying she should be thrown out, but no one listens. Anyone who treats a fellow democrat the way she treats Obama AND who prefers GOP policies---and even GOP candidates---to democratic ones, should be excommunicated.
