Clinton: Base "Broader And Deeper" Than Obama's

Hillary Clinton campaigned Wednesday in Indianapolis, on the same day that Indiana superdelegate and former Clinton supporter Joe Andrew announced he was switching his allegiance to Barack Obama. Clinton says she's not worried about Joe Andrew's endorsement of Obama....

Clinton called her base of support "broader and deeper" than Obama's, and said, "At the end of the day, that's what it should be about for Democrats. You know, it is who can better win. And I've won the big states. I've won the states that we have to anchor. If we had the Republican rules, I would already be the nominee."

When this whole campaign started over a year ago, I was holding back hoping against hope that Gore would finally step up. He didn't so I was for all intents and purposes behind Hillary.

I used to refer to Obama as Obambi because I really had no real belief in him.

THEN I started listening to him and then seeing what a jerk Hillary was turning into. When she started using Thug party tactics against a fellow democrat she completely lost me. That she is doing McBush's work for him is just the worst.

When I finally decided that Hillary was NOT going to be my choice was when she was asked about Obama''s religion and his being a Christian after all the crap going around on the Internet about him being a secret Muslim out to sell us to Albert Kaider, and she said, He's a Christian.....as far as I know"

She lost me right after NH when she started playing the "victim card." I hate the fact that she acts tough one minute, then the next complains that people are mean to her. For me, it was the lying that cinched it. Through the 1990s, I gave the Clintons the benefit of the doubt. Republicans were obviously being picayune for political advantage. But when she told that same Bosnia story over and over again with such authority, how she "remembered" the landing, and the sniper, all so clearly. And when she was outed as lying, her response! "So what? I 'misremembered', so sue me. I'm human."

After that, every time I've seen her speak, I don't believe a word that comes out of her mouth.

You can't have a person like that as your head of state. All of these relationships are based on trust. There is none with her.

That has been a pet theory of mine for at least a month now.

Step 1: Destroy chances for Dems to win in the fall.

Step 2: McCain gets elected, but only serves one term due to his age (and the very predictable failure that would be his continuation of flip-flopping but basically neoconservative policies -- let alone "bomb, bomb, bomb, bomb bomb[ing] Iran").

Step 4: She acknowledges to her fellow members of the religious cult "The Fellowship" to which she is a participating member (a very sizable number of leading neocons there like Brownback, Santorum, George Allen, et. al) that steps 1 & 2 were conscious and willful actions, demonstrating she was really one of them all along and...

Step 5: Runs as Independent (a la Lieberman) or goes *back* to being a Republican (remember "Goldwater Girl"?) and runs in 2012.

Yes, it sounds a trifle wacked, BUT, when viewed through that lens, all her actions suddenly find focus and logical consistency -- though that lens is very distorted.

Repugs only hate the Clintons because they campaign like Repugs. Now those tactics are aimed at more than half of active Dems. It becomes clear what it was Repugs so disliked about them. It's always easier to tolerate bullies so long as they are not bullying you, Right?

You know what is really sad? I used to be all pro-Clinton. During the Lewinsky affair I was all for President Clinton because in my opinion what happens between a man and his wife in a marriage is their own personal affair. They have to work it out and nobody has a right to drag that into the limelight.

I would be all for a woman for president. Hell, let it be a lesbian for president, I could not care less about gender and sexual orientation. And the same is, of course, true for race.

But I want somebody who is sharp, truthful and has a well developed sense of who they are. In other words: I want a grownup for a change. We had enough senile old men and mentally challenged boys with superiority complex. A smart woman could have offered plenty of hope.

But Mrs. Clinton literally fell apart in front of my eyes during this campaign. I had hoped for the better. I am disappointed. I am afraid what she is going to say next, what she is going to do next to destroy her image even further.

Maybe she'd have the nomination and maybe not. Remember, when this started out, she was inevitable. The Party, including her, developed rules and Obama's forces won the greatest number of delegates under those rules. If those rules had been different, Obama's forces would have developed a strategy and tactics to win under other rules. Who knows what would have happened? The fact she is in the position she is in -- losing -- given all of the advantages she had, including over a year of the media calling her inevitable -- makes it doubtful she could win in November or would be a good President if she did win. It's further proof, along with her Iraq and Kyl-Lieberman votes, that Lady Obliterate should not be President.

Hillatirists may not like it, but absent a 65% or more victory by Hillary in every remaining primary, the superdelegates are going to vote give Obama the votes he needs to get the nomination, even if they think he is less electable than she is.

In order for Hillary to get the nomination assuming the current trends, a bunch of primarily white people would have to get together and decide the Black candidate who won the majority of delegates by playing by the rules established by the party, including his opponent, shouldn't get the nomination based upon their subjective crystal ball view of what will happen in November, even though his opponent flagrantly broke the rules to which she agreed.
