Dueling Grannies Fight Over Democratic Nominee

After Barack Obama offered his potential vice presidency to a senior citizen, CNN decided to let the new candidate-to-be air her views. But since the Democratic primary is still raging, the second guest pundit is a former Republican-turned-Hillary supporter (a Clintocan?).

It gets a little heated, particularly after a reference to "Obama bin Laden." It's an honest mistake (ask the board chair of the Associated Press).

I agree with Ms. Weiss what is wrong with sitting down and talking with your enemies? I liked her analogy about school yard bullies. She is a wise old bird. What passion she has. Of course we should talk to our enemies. Aren't we all sick of hearing who the government tells us to hate or not hate? It is exactly like Orwell's 1984. The enemy just changes from Eastasia to Eurasia, USSR to Iran. They do it to control us, to get us to support their policies.

I would like to believe Obama can put an end to that kind of thinking.

I think it's great to see this sort of excitement in women of their age. But it does appear one is looking to the future while the other seems stuck in the pass.

Great insights into the views and opinions of the people each campaign is attracting. The Clinton camp is getting the right wing fear mongering types, if this is at all representative. Meanwhile, Obama will continue to do better with independents and Reagan Democrats, who don't succumb to those fears so easily.

Certainly appears that in this instance at least he was appealing to Jean's better angels, and vice versa.

Wow, the Obama granny was kinda going a little nutty with the Bible references, but then the Clinton granny was even crazier! Her poster of Presidential couples was worse than a Tiger Beat centerfold. Then she really went off the rails with mixing up Obama and bin Laden. What a nut job.
