On his radio show yesterday, Fox News host John Gibson made fun of Air America host/MSNBC analyst Rachel Maddow, playing a clip that says "Ooh, lesbians! Yummy!" after airing audio of her discussing media coverage of Jeremiah Wright. Maddow is a lesbian.

Thank Gawd for Rachel Maddow speaking up and talking down those crazy conservatives. Theve've been rudely dominating the conversation for years. She brilliant, she's adorable, she's hilarious and she is absolutely spot on in her analysis.

I loved it when she made Joe Scarborough cry like a baby recently. Better get used to it, Right-Wing pinheads. The clock is winding down on your reign of toxic ignorance.

From my point of view, either a person has a brain and is articulate and interesting (ala Dr.Maddow),
or is a brainless simpering idiot (ala John Gibson). As a man, as I think Rachel Maddow is a bit of
a fox, there is a slight pang, but I respect her life choices, and very much enjoy listening to her
opinions and thought processes.

"As a man, as I think Rachel Maddow is a bit of

Mighty big of you, newshawk.

While I see you intend to praise Dr. Maddow, this is garden variety homophobia; having a "pang" to think that the lovely commentator is not available to men--ie unavailable to YOU. (Because the only thing stopping you dating such a famous, respected woman is the lesbian factor. Sure, dude, whatever.)

This thought that all women are theoretically available to all men is classic misogyny and homophobia all wrapped into one.

(See also the "it's such a waste" line of thought. A "waste" only to men who feel entitled; I doubt it's a "waste" to any of Dr. Maddow's lucky dates--or to the good Dr. herself.)

Maribelle, you've got your sensitivity meter turned up WAY to high. I'm a gay man who also things Rachel is a fox ( only because she IS a fox) - you gonna accuse me of being homophobic? And I missed the part where newshawk14 expressed his belief that all women should be available to him. Or that "it's such a waste"? Is this expressed in one of his other posts? Or in a font thats invisible to me?

You owe newshawk14 an apology.

I'l bet you a Keith Olberman for a John Gibson, that Rachel Maddow could give a rat's ass of his opinion. Not only is the woman brilliant at political analysis, she is hot to watch; I love that wonderful smile of hers! She is intelligent, articulate, and my type of woman, lesbian, that it is!

I wrote to MSNBC suggesting they give Dr. Maddow her own show--if she'd have them. I greatly respect her.

In the spirit of going along with the Clinton folks (I'm for Obama), if Maddow gave Gibson one of her cojones, he'd have one and she'd have, oh, who cares? She's got brass ovaries.

For you morons, yes, I know Dr. Maddow is a lesbian.

Rachel Maddow is a brilliant person and an eloquent commentator.

I value her insights and opinions.

John Gibson just isn't in the same league and his comment shows that clearly.

Is it draconian "political correctness" to observe she obviously is attempting to either disguise her gender or is purposely misleading her audience of T.V. viewers!

John Gibson is a failed lawyer that has no credibility save his belief in Santa Clause but at least he believes in some mind metaphorical delusional concepts-as all Republicans do!

It is outrageous that in this day and age, someone could be beyond IGNORANT. Have we learned anything from Democratic race? At 55 and a white female I am stunned at how wrong I have been. I did not know how angry black Americans are and how what transpired years ago is
as raw today as in the 1700's. I am of Irish descent and my ancestors were abducted, raped and transported across Europe to be enslaved and yet my people choose to move forward and live in the moment. What purpose does it serve to remain soooooo angry and stuck in the past. We move forward by working together.

Um... did you mean to post your comment to a different article? This story is about a jerk (white guy jerk) trying and failing to insult Rachel Maddow (a white woman) by a reference to her sexual orientation. While we're sequeued onto your response to black anger, I feel ya gal. But let's stay on track here.

" I did not know how angry black Americans are and how what transpired years ago is as raw today as in the 1700's."

One wonders how it would be today if African Americans migrated to the colonies instead of being stacked head-to-toe on slave ships. Black Americans are angry because even after they were freed, they still couldn't vote and were handed 40 acres and a mule as an "I'm sorry" by Uncle Sam. Wouldn't you be a little pissed off that your race was pissed on for hundreds of years?

Well, you're getting off the subject here (but I'm ALSO guilty of that).

Anway, allow me to point out that YOU and YOUR people of IRISH descent (and ME) COULD "choose to move forward and live in the moment" because of OUR "lilly white complexions". Is 1952 when you were born, Debbie? (1950 for me). If so, then you in your teen years should have been WELL AWARE of the FACT that just 40 years ago, AMERICANS of slightly darker complexions weren't allowed to marry, vote with, attend school with, be neighbors with, work with, eat, drink & play with, the "white supreme" americans.

Yes, WE need to "move forward by working TOGETHER" with the AMERICANS of AFRICAN descent, who for SO LONG were (and still are) denied EQUAL rights in this "all men are created equal" country of ours.

It SHOULD be just as PAINFUL for us pigment-privileged americans to struggle with the SINS of our fathers, as it was PAINFUL for those AMERICANS who struggled with being SINNED upon.

SHAME on our SINNING fathers. And SHAME on all AMERICANS who still cling to the mindset of our SINNING fathers!

Stay safe, healthy and happy,
Love, Loretta

I don't understand your point. To whom are you addressing this?

"We move forward by working together"

I agree. Could you tell Mr. Landsberg, who refers to Obama as "Embowa" that? (Page 3 and 4)

John Gibson's beneath contempt.

The Right WIng's just mad because Rachel Maddow regularly embarasses them (especially that moron Joe Scarborough who's always wrong, never able to admit it, and still maintaining even today on Race for the White House that Hillary Clinton has ran a good campaign.)

Their problem is Maddow uses reason and logic to make the Republicans look like the morons they are.

For anyone who actually cares, Maddow was also a Rhodes Scholar, which is pretty much the hardest graduate program one can get into.

Things like this make me so mad it's hard to even engage with them. It's none of Gibson's business. What the heck does Rachel Maddow's personal life have to do with anything? There's nothing wrong with being a lesbian. Maybe he's just mad because he knows she's not only smarter than him but definitely doesn't want his old wrinkled rear end.

All of this homophobic, racist, sexist crap that this campaign has somehow managed to bring to the surface really HAS TO STOP in this country. This is America for crying out loud. People have a right to be what they want to be. I've never been so glad, in my life, to be part of a younger generation that hopefully will live to see all of this crap go by the wayside.

And I'm glad she called the media on their absurd Wright coverage. It needs to stop.

Ofetn obviously isn't a word.

You are obviously a joke...

That was extremely immature of John Gibson.

Rachel's lifestyle had NOTHING to do with the discussion they had; so for him to AUTOMATICALLY VOLUNTEER her sexual orientation to others on the public airwaves is Vicious, Vile & Appalling!

He should be suspended as well! He's an ass!

In defense of John Gibson, he did not realize that Rachel Maddow was actually a human being with feelings. He also has no idea what “lesbian” means. Somebody gave him that word just as if it were a rubber ball to play with. John was raised by wolves when his parents abandoned him on the side of a dirt road. I don’t think he would mind me relating this. He has made terrific progress over the years, but just as anyone who is lupusly challenged he still has problems adjusting to society. Please don’t blame John, blame his trainers at FOX.

That's a bad reflection on wolves, which by the way are being hunted again in our national parks as restrictions have been lifted. OT I know but all the work to bring them back is going for naught.

"John was raised by wolves when his parents abandoned him on the side of a dirt road."

He may not have been raised by wolves, but obviously he WAS raised in a HOMOPHOBIC household. And obviously HIS parents WOULD have abandoned him, had he "chosen" to come out of the closet.

My childhood friend (and her extended family) is religious to a FAULT. Her gay cousin lost his will to live, and jumped off a bridge...after 40-some years of being DISOWNED, DISGRACED, DEMEANED, DEHUMANIZED, DEMONIZED for being WHO HE IS. His suicide attempt was unsuccessful, and he lays in a hospital on life support. Though he IS well aware of his surroundings and his LONE VISITOR, his mother (where was SHE 25 YEARS AGO?), my friend is DISAPPOINTED that her aunt refuses to pull the plug on him.

My friend championed the effort of the "right-to-lifers" to force life support on a BRAINDEAD woman, but NOT a GAY man. OH THE HYPOCRISY!!!

OH, and BTW, my friend makes CERTAIN that EVERYONE knows that her GAY cousin was ADOPTED...so as to say that homosexuality does NOT run in HER family genes? Is she then AGREEING & ADMITTING that homosexuality IS nature...NOT nurture? (Or ONLY in THEIR "sexual situation"?) ONCE AGAIN...OH THE HYPOCRISY!!!

(Sorry about going off subject, AGAIN!, but I couldn't help myself!)

Stay safe, healthy and happy,
Love, Loretta

Don't insult wolves. They are intelligent, resourceful and loyal.....and Gibson has none of those qualities.

Good grief, this John Gibson guy is a complete idiot - I can't believe anyone (even FOX!) would actually give him airtime! Rachel is great! I wish she'd really stand up to Pat Buchanan more than she does and let him know what she really thinks.

Rachel Maddow is a Rhodes Scholar. That means she graduated from Oxford. She has a Ph.D. When you consider that John McCain graduated from Annapolis fifth from the bottom of his class (admitted as a legacy because of his father and grandfather), it's hard not to run down the street screaming.

>Rachel Maddow's a Lesbian??
>> Who cares?? Apparently anyone less intelligent in the same line of business...

>Fox has a NOISE channel??
>> Again, why is anyone listening??

Seems to me that if the likes of Gibson, O'Reilly, Limbaugh, Hannity etc. are simply ignored and denied their "15 Minutes" we'd be way better off. Like an annoying zit, they would eventually shrivel and dry up.

Patient: "Doctor, it inflames me when I watch O'Reilly or listen to Gibson... What can I do..."
Doctor: "Don't tune in."

Have a nice day everyone...
