Obama May Go On O'Reilly Factor, Says Chris Wallace

The Democrats have decided to drop by Fox News this week, with Barack Obama on Fox News Sunday and Hillary Clinton went on Bill O'Reilly. But more might be coming, according to Chris Wallace, who reported this morning that Obama was "thinking seriously" about appearing on the Factor:

Although they are both on Fox News, there is a BIG difference between being interviewed by a journalist like Chris Wallace and a hack/blowhard like Bill Oreilly. Please Senator, do not give that bigot any legitimacy. Bill and Hillary Clinton has made the decision to appeal to white racists by going on O'Reilly and Limbaugh. HRC had 57 percent of the AA vote in OCT 07 via the polls. Yes, AA voters learned more about the Clintons in the last year. Obama's "skin color" was the same in Oct. 07.

Six months is a long time; polls vary, more gaffes, wounds heal, etc. The economy hasn't bottomed out, yet and gas prices will continue to rise. McCain will continue to fumble his words and unfortunately, more troops will die. The democratic party will unite.

Regarding experience, the Bush adminstration, en masse, have experience and look at the results.

They are adept at changing their tune mid stream when Obama does EXACTLY what the other candidate does.

I think the best thing to do is for Obama to go on O'Reilly's show -- and take him on. The contrast with Hillary's session would be striking and reveal a clear difference between the two candidates -- Hillary pleasantly taking O'Reilly's setups about Wright/etc, and Obama calling him to task on journalistic practices and real issues such as the war, the gasoline tax, and foreign diplomacy.

Unfortunately I don't think that's what Obama will do. He will be deferential, conservative and non-confro­ntational, as with Wallace. But he needs to remember that the people who regularly watch O'Reilly aren't ever going to vote for him. And because of that, they should not be considered in any way his target audience when he goes on the show. It's the people who don't normally watch, but are interested to see how he handles it and what he says, watch the clips later, and perhaps are swayed in their voting preference as a result -- they are the target audience. And I think showing some backbone is what that audience wants to see.
