Paul Kirk, Ex-DNC Chair And Superdelegate, To Endorse Obama

ABC's the note says Obama will roll out the endorsement of another DNC ex-chair today.

Speaking of math -- the Obama campaign rolls out another former DNC chairman's endorsement on Friday: Paul Kirk, a superdelegate who led the party from 1985-1989, is coming out for Obama -- a day after Andrew's switch, an Obama campaign official tells The Note. (And don't count on that being it for the day, as the dribble continues.)

If Clinton, D-N.Y., can make this is a race yet, we're about to find out just how patient Democrats can be with a race that's showing signs of shredding the party. Notwithstanding moves by Andrew, Kirk, and the like, Clinton needs superdelegates to wait for her case to play out -- and then she needs an utter and total rejection of the Democratic frontrunner.

Yesterday Joe Andrew, former DNC Chair under Bill Clinton, withdrew his support from Sen Clinton and endorsed Obama. Read why Joe decided to switch to an Obama endorsement.

Political Wire notes that Obama after the last two days, Obama has pulled ahead in endorsements from former DNC chairs:

For those keeping score, The Hotline notes that of the 11 living Democratic National Committee chairs between 1981 and 2005, six have endorsed Sen. Barack Obama and four have backed Sen. Hillary Clinton.

Only former Colorado Gov. Gov. Roy Romer has remained neutral.

The argument that continuing the primary process is a help to McCain, or that Clinton or Obama's negative campaigning is "fracturing" or "ripping" the party apart, hold zero merit. The fact is that Howard Dean wants Obama to be the nominee, and he is going to get Obama to the nomination by hook or by crook. He has always hated Hillary. The message that the primary process is hurting the party, and the fact that it's coming from "party insiders" is clearly coming from his office. As are the instructions to the SD's to announce their intentions at a trickling pace. We Hillary supporters realize that it's over. But we also know that you're not going to get away with it. One other small nit: Gore won the popular vote, and is by far the best candidate the Democratic party had in my lifetime (I first voted in 1968). On Kerry-Edwards, if that ticket had been reversed, we would have won.

Hillary is fracturing the party by attacking Obama and remaining in the race when the only way she can win is to supersede the pledged delgate count with Super Delegates and taking this to the convention. Hillary has effectively alienated many of us who stood up for her and her husband all through the 90s. She has shifted dramatically toward the very people we defended her from. She turned her back on the "activist base" the ones who actually work all year to get Democratrs elected.

He has defeated the mighty Clinton machine. 6 or 8 months ago he was down by 30 points in polls against her and it appeared she would be the nominee. That's no fluke. They will trot out every debunked controversy of the 90s and make up some new ones. They have been preparing for her run for 7 years. Both candidates have negatives and baggage but the big difference is that Hillary's baggage is personal and based on her own actions and Obama's baggage is based on the actions of three people he happens to know.
Hillary's negatives:
1: She is untrustworthy and exaggerates and misrepresents the truth.
2. She shamelessly panders for votes (downing shots, riding in pick-up trucks, remembering the good ol' hunting days, and promising stupid quick-fixes like the gas tax holiday).
3. She will go as negative as possible even if it risks destroying Obama's candidacy as long as it helps her campaign.

This is my story and I am sticking to it.

I believe that Obama has the nomination because the supers will eventually come out for him. The reason they are sitting back waiting is: 1) Remember Bill is an ex-president so they will wait until all the states have voted simply in respect to him. Because he has acted as he has he doesn't deserve that respect but I believe it is more in respect for the party. 2) When they come out for Obama they will be treated like Bill Richardson has so they want as many votes to give them good reason for coming out for Obama. 3) This isn't Hillary's campaign it is really Bill's 3rd term campaign.
