Tom Hanks, a class act from Hollywood, endorses Barack Obama, a class act who is going to be the next president of the United States. Love it.

French movie stars backed the male candidate in the stylish suit with the catchy slogans. Voters unfortunately allowed themselves to be swayed. The French president elected at 53% has not seen the uper side of 40% for months and sunk even lower for a while. The movie stars aren't making any comments.
I love the acting of Tom Hanks but boy is this an abusive use of his star status;

...howso?...

...I was led to believe that even celebrities share the same constitutional freedoms that the rest of us do...

...Tom Hanks speaking on myspace about his political choices is "an abuseive use of his star status" just how?...

...I can't wait for your response...

Obama 2008!

"I love the acting of Tom Hanks but boy is this an abusive use of his star status;"

Oh yes because lord knows celebrity's do not have the same democratic rights and privileges as the rest of us. An American citizen daring to make a comment on the presidential race, pfft, what does he know?

I have the feeling sarcasm is not your forte, so please note that it has been used somewhere in this comment.

Well that is appropriate, an actor who can't act endorses a politician with no policies.

Your judgment seems to be impaired on several levels...

Tom Hanks

-2 oscars
-49 other various awards for best acting
-49 nominations for best acting
-acted in 57 films to date
-directed 7 films to date
-produced 30 films to date

To improve your judgment, pls read Barack Obama's proposed policies here:

To those that hate Barack, suggesting they do research on him from a positive perspective is a waste of time. They would much rather look at the fox style snippets of wright, it is like hot chocolate to them on a cold night!

Where do these injudicious detractors get their information from?

Why is every aspect of their comments completely at odds with reality?

My advice to ianrthorpe and the like: Say no to drugs.

"Dreams from My Father" is a pile of crap. His father was a polygamist and drunk who lost both legs in DUIi accident and his life in a second DUI accident In Nairobi. He was not a hero as portrayed. But, "Barry" used this fantasized version to appeal to the public's empathy. Some suggest that Obama chose to present his father in a favorabkle light as an electoral tactic. I think it is up to Oprah Winfrey to have Obama on her program and subject him to stiff questioning concerning the expose' by Sharon Churcher in the London Daily Mail in January of 2007. After all, she was out front and vocal for him and throwing her considerable influence in his support. Now, let's have a moment of truth.

I would say he sat on the knee of his white grandfather and grandmother for most of his development of 46 years. He has family of every race and ethnicity. Yes, it makes me a little jealous to not be able to boast such a diverse background.

But that is not a reason for me to try to change his upbringing by discounting the influence of the WHITE part of his family. Nice try.

I think celebrity endorsements do more damage than good. I must say I was very upset about Michael Moore's endorment of Obama. I love Michael Moore's work but feel he is too controversial.

He WAS controversial. Everything he said is now seen as true. This country owes Michael Moore an apology. This primary has virtually been a laundry list of all his movies and complaints. Truth hurts and it takes Americans a long time to see it.

I am fan of Michael Moore. From TV Nation to all his books and films. He became controversial only because anyone that speaks the truth in this country gets trashed. He is so brutally honest I love him.
He says things as he sees them, he is funny and down to earth. Originally he was not backing Obama but like many other people,Obama changed his mind which means Michael Moore is open minded. He might agree with me on this one. Obama is more central and not so to the left as we would like him to be...but we can live with that.

Every single thing Michael Moore has ever said or printed or put in a film is a true fact.

Some of those facts were not aired anywhere else.

Michael Moore is as controversial as the Truth is controversial.

Fox News would be only to happy to hear that you've bought into their right-wing propaganda. If Rambo can endorse John McCain--Let Michael Moore, Tom Hanks and Hannah Montana ( hey, it could happen ) endorse Barack Obama. Let all voices be heard.

The way I phrased my original post does make it sound like a contradiction... As I said I do love Michael Moore's work but he is controversial in the eye's of most americans.
there are some people out there who would vote for Obama but will not vote for him now because of Michael Moore. Do you think his endorsement of John Kerry helped Kerry... Half of the people of this country are very ignorant to whats going on. They follow Faux News, CNN..

I think I recall all of the bitching and sniping going on here about Hillary and Hollywood. Is it any wonder that the working class overwhelmingly support Hillary?

Yeah, they OVERWHELMINGLY support Hillary. That's why Barack has the most delegates, the most votes, the most states, the most donors and the most money raised. I think there is something that still needs some whelming.

Good question. That was a dirty trick by MSNBC.

They have picked up the FAUX narrative and pushed the Wright story at every turn. Ever wonder why they have their two racist, Pat Buck and Joe Scab commenting on black issues?

Thanks Tom. That was a substantive, impressive and welcome endorsement. I suggest that everyone take the time to listen to what he had to say. He donated to both Hillary and Obama and closely followed the campaign and listened to the candidates before making a thoughtful and patriotic choice. It was a helpful talk and I appreciate it. I want my country back too.

Tom Hanks is well respected and it is great to know he is somewhat of a history buff.

This is a good endorsement and who ever can forget his performance in the profound movie Saving Private Ryan about World War II and the Normandy invasion.

I am sure there is substance behind what he says...
