Cazayoux Win

The Hill:

House Democrats continued to expand their majority Saturday night after Louisiana state Rep. Don Cazayoux emerged victorious in a special election for retired Rep. Richard Baker's (R) district.

The win comes two months after Democrats picked up their first seat of the year. In March, Democrat Bill Foster won the Illinois seat of former House Speaker Dennis Hastert (R). That seat, like the Louisiana contest, was in solidly Republican areas. President Bush carried the Illinois district with 55 percent and the Louisiana district with 59 percent in 2004.

This is great news for the Republicans, and most importantly, George W. Bush, so sayeth the MSM.

How does any Republican throw the accusation "big government democrat" with a straight face? At least the public isn't buying it any more. Can't wait for November.

After looking at his policies I wouldn't have voted for him.

Yes, but it's a choice of two evils. The opponent is a supposed christian conservative. At least, I am sure this guy is not on the lunatic fringe of the conservative right.

He's definitely the lesser of the weevils here--plus, he's another super-delegate for Obama, right?

Then you're lucky you don't live in Louisiana...you'd never vote.

Cazayoux. the Dem, ran as anti-gun control and anti-choice and he was "too liberal" for the district. Imagine the other guy!

"The National Republican Congressional Committee and several conservative groups poured nearly $1 million into the race in an effort to tie Cazayoux to Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.), Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton (D-N.Y.) and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.).

The ads called the state representative “too liberal” for the district, which had been held by Republicans since 1974."

Great news for the Dems! This just helps imply that any Democratic candidate would win in the Fall versus McCain. People are not going to forget the worst government in American history including Bush and the Republican congress. Obama will have the clearest path to the presidency because once Hillary supporters accept that Obama won the nomination process fairly, Obama will bring the party back together.

We must end the reign of the republican crime syndicate on our government!

Even more impressive that he won it on the first round without the need of a runoff.

Considering Louisiana's peculiar election laws, that is huge!

How do landslides start.... one stone falls, then another, and the next thing you know everything is moving.

This is going to be landslide year for Democrats... once Senator Obama is our nominee.

Yo, superdelegates! Do you see what happened here? They're voting for good government in 2008, and they want Obama for president!

Perfect! I love it! The main line of discussion on this thread is and will obviously continue to be the fact that the media has been HOUNDING this non-story about how Dem's in Mississippi and Louisanna were "in trouble becuase of their Obama connections". What they fail to realize is that just enough Americans are waking up to the fact that Republicans are EVIL and bad forthis country, as well as the fact that ALL the controversy surrounding Obama on ANY topic is 100% B.S.. Actually, the media is only hurting themselves when they pointlessly bash Obama and harp on his "controversies", since it merely exposes how far to the right they've leaned. Now, I'm not saying Obama is above critizism; no person is. But when the media so shamelessly turns on a popular candidate in an effort to create a controversy, and only AFTER HIllary starts to complain about how she is a vitcim of the media, then they are wrong. And they also hurt themselves by completely alienating smart viewers who can see through their obivous lies, as well as turning off so many young or first-time viewers who were part of the reason they were pulling in record ratings at the beginning of the year when Obama was tearing up the country.

Yes, you are right; I am not sure how much help he will be to us. He sounds like a DINO, like our friend Hillary Clinton.

Yeah I dont think Obama can possibly win in Nov. Have you seen the negative polls for him in Fla?

Consider the area. He is still far more liberal than the Republican against whom he ran.

Don't waste your time. That tiny but fanatical contingent of Obama supporters (I call them ditto-heads for Obama) have already decided to hate this guy. Even though he is, apparently, a friend of Obama's and even though he is rumored to be a super del for Obama. Their need to hate has gotten so out of control that they're even starting to hate people who support their (our) candidate. Pathetic.

Pro corporation, like Clinton (the pharmaceutical industry) and Obama (the nuclear power industry). You don't get too far in American politics without substantial corporate support. Ask John Edwards.
