Anti-Immigration Protester Needs A Spell-Check

The San Francisco Chronicle reprints this photo taken at an anti-immigration rally in Texas. The paper quips: "Excellent point: In Houston, a Texan protesting amnesty for illegal immigrants argues that anyone who can't master English doesn't deserve to live in America."

I was one of the many Texas teenagers who had an extremely hard time getting a part-time job because I wasn't Central American. Do you know how pissed off I was? The way Texas discriminates against their own fellow Americans for cheaper worker is outrageous! It was just on the news a few months ago that over half of the employees for the city of Dallas were illegal and many people complained that they have tried to get jobs working for the city of Dallas but would be hire because they weren't Central American. This is why they protest. I'm half Puerto Rican, but look black. No one understand how much it sucks to walk into a store and need help looking for something only to find that the sales associate doesn't speak English. Or to get into an accident and find out that the person that hits you doesn't have a license, doesn't have insurance, or can't give you any kind of personal information due to the lack of speaking English; or worst they hit you and keeping going for the fear of deportation! Trust me I see this all of the time. I have fallen victim of these problems and so has some of my friends... Even some of my friends that are Legal citizens have ran into these problems, so think before you criticize a persons motives for wanting a better immigration reform!

Running out of water? I see my neigbours watering their lawn just fine and I see bottled water everywhere. Foreign oil? Yes, I noticed lots of Mexicans are driving Hummers and Escalates doing their daily commutes from the suburbs and heating their 5000 square feet homes. Add another 150 million people? Why not, it will solve our foreclosure problems. I bet people in Detroit would love to see somebody buying their houses.

I can explain the pictures. I think the guy thinks "morans" is plural for "moron". As for the woman, she purposely misspelled the word because she figured the uneducated immigrants would have spell it that way. A very subtle dig on her part.

Obama is right about certain people and areas of the country are trapped in situation that make them and their lifestyle less and less relevant and sustainable. Their isolation and lack of education make them incapable to understand and adapt to the macro changes that are taking place. They look to simple cause and answers to their current conditions. Yes, it's the Mexicans that are stealing our jobs and pushing our wages down. Yes, it's China that is causing me pain to fill up my pick up truck. The government should do something about it.

If Democrats want to know why they are no longer the dominant party of FDR and Truman, this post by Nico Pitney explains why.

It oozes with the smug condescension many upper class liberals express towards working class unabashedly patriotic Americans. Especially those Americans who are most negatively impacted by flawed Open Borders policies and corruption. You know the ones FDR and Truman counted as Democrats.

What is worse is fools like Nico Pitney like to think they are scoring points with minorities for demonstrating their superior "anti-racist" posturing. But I doubt those whom Nico Pitney thinks he is impressing are actually falling for it. Most working class folks regardless of race or education find this brand of snark offensive and see right through it.

Having actually lived in some of the most ethnically and income diverse neighborhoods in the country along Chicago's Lawrence and Devon avenues, I have found the vast majority of average American adults really are understanding and compassionate towards the struggles of those who are trying to learn English. However, they are also more keenly aware of the necessity of English as a common language in building a safe and unified community. What makes these Americans angry is that many liberals and ethnic-identity pandering politicians support "bi-lingual" education and the creation of Spanish only barrios.

Last, I also wonder whenever Nico Pitney is stopped on the street by an English learner and asked for assistance, just how patient he really is.

There is nothing smug or condecending about looking at an person who wants Engilish to be the official language yet cannot spell the word "official". There is also something to be said about a man who wants to use the term "moron" to refer to other Americans but cannot spell the word. A professor of mine said this to me a long time ago:

"If you are going to insult someone, make sure you do it right".
