The San Francisco Chronicle reprints this photo taken at an anti-immigration rally in Texas. The paper quips: "Excellent point: In Houston, a Texan protesting amnesty for illegal immigrants argues that anyone who can't master English doesn't deserve to live in America."

Well, it's not news that people with a limited world view are often remarkably ignorant. Just reading the blog posts of the trolls proves that. I'm surprised he/she got the apostrophe in "America's" correct.

Let me get this straight. You want an American citizen deported for a typo, but you refuse to deport an illegal no matter how many felonies her or she committed? Makes sense. Their skin is brown therefore they are above the law.

So, let me get this straight:
Americans want illegal aliens deported.
Illegal aliens work low to ultra-low paying jobs that most Americans wouldn't do at the going rate.
If Americans took those jobs, costs would go up (ie: picking lettuce, cleaning dishes in restaurants)
Americans don't want costs to go up any higher than they already are because they are paying a billion dollars for soldiers to risk their lives in a country that really doesn't want them either.

Do I have this right?

Sure would lower the cost of health care, auto insurance and help over burdened schools! Not to mention the welfare system and other agencies that provide everything needed for these people. You know, these people who are here making money but don't put back into the US economy, instead put the money back into their own country's economy.

I remember an equally stupid rally in L.A. when Hispanics protested against anti-immigration policies. They loudly proclaimed their love for U.S.
Problem- Most of them carried little Mexican flags.
Few of US flags anywhere in sight.

From what I understand though, they are not anti-immigration. They are anti-ILLEGAL immigration. There is a huge difference and I am so tired of seeing these "anti-immigration" headlines, which are completely inaccurate.

The only entities that make out like bandits with illegal immigration are corporate American and the Mexican Government (their #1 income is the money sent home by those here in the country illegally).

I am an immigrant (legal) and went through the process of testing, FBI check and fingerprint check. What is the point though if we have open borders? The thing is a farce.

In 1986 Reagan said, we will legalize all those here (about 2 million) and control the borders and that will take care of it. They legalized those here, but did nothing about the borders and so now we have about 20 million exploitable people here illegally.

Towns and hospitals are being bankrupted by the cost of this huge influx. Those working in meat packing plants used to earn $19 an hour. Now with illegal labor, it's down to $9 an hour. And that is just one industry. This is hurting the American worker. but is a boon to the bottom line of corporate America.

I know I will be called a xenophobe .. I think that' is the word of choice .. but nothing is further from the truth. We need immigration but like any other country, it should be controlled.
