ABC News' Sarah Amos reports: Former President Bill Clinton spent time in two western North Carolina churches this morning, speaking more from his heart than any sort of political handbook.

"I didn't come here to ask you to vote for my wife," said Clinton, addressing the congregation at Church of the Pentacostal in Asheville, N.C. "I came here to ask you to pray for her. And to vote. Do whatever you want. Show up. Our country is in dire distress.

hey Bill...before I pray for you guys, can you let me know which members of OPEC are under your wife's nuke umbrella and which members of OPEC you guys plan on obliterating? Honestly, I'm trying to keep it all straight, but I'm having a tough time lately.

OK, Bill, here is my prayer for Hillary:

May God grant you the wisdom to accept the things you cannot change (such as, the RULES which forbid the seating of delegates from the line-jumping Florida and Michigan primaries)...

The courage to change the things that you can (such as, your horrendous de facto endorsement of McCain over Obama)...

And the wisdom to know the difference.

Amen.

We really, really, don't like the Lord's name taken in vain, or for selfish purposes, Bill.

You might think everyone around here some knee-jerk religious fool, but you are the fool treading on the deep and rich.

"speaking more from his heart than any sort of political handbook."

Baloney, Bill Clinton, one of the most skilled panderers in the game, was saying exactly what to say to a church congregation. To say that these comments weren't carefully engineered to the audience is just silly.

I guess there is no God, then. He should have been smitten down by lightening instantaneously for lying in church.

Y'know, almost my entire family is from California - more than a hundred of them and not one of them can remember the Clintons mentioning either God or prayer once during the entire time they campaigned there. Not once. The Clintons even use God when it is politically expedient.

The Obama people on this site are a very nasty group. Scary that they are also Democrats. I am very disappointed in the Obama supporters on Huffington. They are mean, vulgar, insulting and for the most part badly informed.

This is "mean":
The latest veil playing of the "race card" by the Clintons is Bill Clinton making multiple last minute visits to rural White communities in North Carolina and Indiana and delivering a canned speech in which he says that a vote against Hillary is a vote against America.

Actually, I'm not vulgar and I'm as informed as any Clinton supporter I've ever met And I've just been insulted for about the millionth time during this primary. Enough. If you don't like an Obama position, fine. If you don't like Obama, fine. But the insults I've gotten have been from the other side - and they have been constant - particularly since Mark Penn decided to make attacking the opponent's supporters a new campaign tactic early this year. It may win the Clintons the election, but it will lose the Democrats the White House in the fall.

Sorry Bill, my prayers are all tied up at the moment, for the poor souls who have lost
their lives and their homes in Burma. If I had one left, it wouldn't be for Hillary.

I've been making calls to NC on behalf of the Hillary Clinton campaign, and the word is that NC loves Bill and will vote for Hillary. That is, the white people in NC will vote for her. One man said he was going to vote for McCain, but his wife has talked him into voting for Hillary. He also said he resents that the blacks are voting their color when the Clintons have always been so good to black people. He called it black racism.

Freaky self-absorption!

Pander! Pander! Pander!

Bill is like the Duke in Huckleberry Finn. . .(a crook).

I too will pray! Pray that the Clinton's will not be back in the position of power and greed that takes priority over this nation. Pray that Americans will finally wake up and realize, we have the power to direct this country in the way it should if we stick together rather than bicker over things that divide us! I PRAY!

I think I'll save my prayers for
all of the military men and women who have lost their lives to this illegal War
or
all of the 10,000 people who lost their lives to a cyclone this weekend
or
all of the Americans who have lost their homes

I think Hillary will be fine.

President Bill Clinton is the secret weapon that won NC for his wife.

The man is a machine making 6 to 9 stops a day in rural NC.

They will never vote for Obama but will give her a 2 point win in NC.
