Clinton's attacks on oil prices as artificially inflated, Enron-style, keep escalating, and today she appeared to threaten to break up the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries.

"We're going to go right at OPEC," she said. "They can no longer be a cartel, a monopoly that get to gether once every couple of months" at a hotel in "some plush place in the world" to set prices, she told a crowd a volunteer fire house in Merillville

Those are independent foreign countries, sweetie. You can't just holler at them when you don't get your way like back in Little Rock.

And if Obama said he would take on OPEC and the Oil Companies, would you support it? You bet your life you would. I'll support anyone who wants to take on the real terrorists. A world wide forum must be called to stop this insane price surge to $200.00 per barrel--that is what they are shooting for! Why aren't they talking about this? Where is Obama and Clinton on this? Why aren't they calling for a world wide moratorium!
The terrorists are OPEC, Oil Companies and Bush!

Clinton is a fool if she thinks she has any power over OPEC.
How exactly will she do this?
Most of her followers don't even know what OPEC is.
How about getting off oil.
The USA would have been off oil if it wasn't for Reagan who stopped the alternative energy revolution and almost doomed the US.

Maybe it's time for Sen. Clinton to curl up with an economics textbook and some books on colonial exploitation of third world resources. OPEC was developed as a defensive bullwark against unfair exploitation of petroleum resources by the US and Europe. Is Sen. Clinton planning to drag us back to the 19th century?

In history, Standard Oil was a monopoly--a single company with a stranglehold on the market. When there is a relatively small number of companies dominating an industry--say network television broadcasting in the US--that is an oligopoly.

A good history book would also show the US toppling the elected Mossadegh government of Iran in the 1950's and installing the brutal Shah to ensure the continued flow of oil to the US and Europe. No wonder Iranians do not trust US intentions.

I hope this Democratic Presidential nomination process winds up soon with Sen. Obama as the nominee before Sen. Clinton does irreparable harm to the name of the Democratic Party of the United States in the eyes of people around the world.

What I don't get is why neither Obama or Clinton have come out for price controls for Oil; nor have either of them suggested a World Conference on the insane cost of oil per barrel!? Nothing, not a word on this robbery from either of them...do they love Saudi Arabia and Bush secretly? There is no "shortage" and "demand" is not going through the roof in China, increasing in drips yes, but nothing to support the Enron con game we are all witnessing, and just wait till they (us) attack Iran, wait to what happens to the price then! And who got the revenues from the Iraq oil? We paid for the invasion and pay for Blackwell to guard those oil fields, who got the money?
Really, don't you Obama and Hillary people want some answers to this?

OPEC and this admistration are the terrorists!
I will vote for her if she keeps talking like this.
They need to be brought down before the bring the world down!

Wonder just how she is planning on doing this since OPEC is a cartel of foreign countries. The only way to beat them is to reduce and/or eliminate our dependence on oil.

We need to make a cartel of oil importing countries. They can charge the ghost.

Blow Iran off the map ? Dismantle OPEC ? She IS tough. Which will she do on Day 1 ? If she is going to dismantle OPEC I suggest she better nuke Iran first 'cause we won't have the gas to fly our jets once she dismantles OPEC.

Great another threat that will jack up gas prices. I'll tell you this, if this women manages to become president all these words are coming back to haunt us at the pumps. Wall Street reacts when political leaders use these sort of comments. Hillary would you PLEASE STFU.

Exactly! We need a national discussion of the speculative war premium that is built into the current rising price of a barrel of crude oil for future delivery. That's the problem. Bidders who fear future disruptions in the world supply of oil will seek to enter into contracts for future delivery of oil at a price they lock in now. The more bidders fear disruptions, the higher they bid up the price. With Sen. Clinton's saber-rattling at Iran and OPEC, the next increase in the price of crude oil should be named in Sen. Clinton's honor. She is making the problem WORSE!

The answers to rising oil prices lie in greater vehicle fuel efficiency and use of mass transit powered by alternative fuels and ratcheting down the war rhetoric through greater diplomacy. The falling value of our dollar has also made the price of a barrel of oil in dollars rise faster than the price of a barrel of oil in euros.

We must face the facts that as changing living standards in parts of China and India increase demand for oil, we must reduce the growth in demand for oil in the US to restrain the rise in oil prices.

And I'm sure OPEC will give Hillary a big "F*CK_YOU".

Our politicians are still ignorant of other cultures and other countries. They act like everyone in the world is an American and they will all bow down to Queen Hillary.

Where do we find such jack-asses for government?
