Laura Bush
A White House press conference given by First Lady Laura Bush took a bizarre and insensitive twist when the focus of the conference, the devastation wrought by a powerful cyclone in Myanmar, switched to Jenna Bush's upcoming wedding. While the reporters and the First Lady bantered back and forth about Jenna's wedding details, MSNBC left up their chyron, saying "First Lady Talks About Deadly Cyclone In Myanmar." They also continued to show images of the devastation in Myanmar while Mrs. Bush offered more information about the wedding, including the "Texas limestone altar" built by her husband.

Watch footage of the press conference below.

Well, if you live on the left and are full of hate and wallow in rage and feed on brainless blind smearing and rage.....then I guess you might as well take down the First Lady, too.

What a bunch of ignorant, evil, morons.

Just like Bush has been the worse president ever, Laura has been the most useless first lady ever. Name ONE thing she has done.

Uh - express heartfelt concern about the Mynamar disaster? Which is more that Clinton, Obama, Pelosi, Reid or Dean have done.
Just maybe she deserves some credit for her support of education?
Why don't you name one thing Hillary did as first lady?
Promote women's rights? Don't think so.
Health care? Nope.
International diplomacy? (where'd them snipers go?)
All I can think of is "Stand by your man...."

Allow me to introduce you to the concept of projecting.

It's not so much that the first lady was at fault; the media are the lap dogs that foster this type of ridiculous behaviour and kowtow to every whim of these people. She was more than willing to indulge them though. What more should we expect?

"Well, if you live on the left and are full of hate and wallow in rage and feed on brainless blind smearing and rage (blah blah)."

Can't we just "live on the left" without all those right-wing qualities?

Crikey, to paraphrase Kurt Cobain,:

It was the State run media that brought up the wedding and continued with follow through questions on the wedding. The suck up congratulating Laura Bush opened the door. What about the idiot reporters that asked follow up questions? They can't ask appropriate questions? MSNBC should have cut it off after the reporters changed the subject.

And I hate the Bush's but this is a bogus story that tells more about reporters being puppets for Washington.

It is also about common sense, intelligence and knowing what is and is not appropiate. She should have stuck to the issue. The devastation of the Cyclone.

Huffing post.....shame on you. Reporters asked questions about Laura Bush's daughter's wedding. She answered. HP fouled her. What mother is not proud of her daughters wedding. She is not a rude lady. HP you twisted this one like the PHB does.

Who cares about this wedding? Are you kidding me? Why couldn't they wait unit W is out of the White House? This is a joke! Gas is 120 dollars a barrel and they're having a good old time. Seriously I wish some one would have the guts and impeach this --- ----.

ITs the media folks...... They ask frivolous questions and who the hell gives a tinkers damn about this wedding!!! Yes i would much have preferred they ask about Gas at $120 a barrel since they were going to get off topic regardless. Does anyone really care about the Bush wedding ?

Bad mistake. Laura Bush is definitely a caring person and she made the mistake of not pushing away the questions that didn't focus on the disaster. It's not fully her fault at all.

A major part of the blame for this crassness lies with the STUPID journalists who felt it was more important to ask about an upcoming wedding than the deaths of 15,000 people. Definitely makes Americans look callous and reminds people of Katrina.

I have to qualify that Myanmar is not part of the United States and its government is not a friendly democratic one. However, if we step up to help we must do it with the sensitivity that a genuine helping hand should have.

I hate Bush but blaming Laura fully for this one is a bit much.

I agree with you. Laura Bush is the most caring person imaginable. I know people say that she lied for thirty years about not being the driver of the car that killed the boyfriend who had just jilted her one week before the high school prom, but I don't believe them. Just because a police record was forced to be released that showed she had lied, who believes a police report anyway? She is a caring person. Do not believe any of the other 6 or so lies they say she made: http://www.libertypost.org/cgi-bin/readart.cgi?ArtNum=68044.

It is quite remarkable how the Bush family seem totally oblivious to the world around them - always so jovial about the state of affairs. Ignorance is truly bliss.

This is the lefts greatest evil on our society, the way they radicalize and mislead morons who think they are "enlightened" by pushing far left smears and hate.

The Bushes are nothing but SELFISH PRICKS!.

Osama bin Laden has not been brought to justice as Bush said he would and yet they are having a wedding.

What hubris. What arrogance. How appalling.

As if they can't wait several months until they are out of the White House.

Worst.
President.
EVER.

I would tend not to fault the wife for her husband's political failings. As a journalist myself, the press had every right to ask the question and she had every right to answer them, for pete's sake.

At least they're not having the wedding at the White House, as Tricia Nixon did during the height of the Vietnam War. (I've met her incidentally, because we share the same hair colorist. She's a lovely woman, believe it or not.)

So tell me - what have your heros done or said about the cyclones??? Did Obama visit? Did Hill send money? Did Pelosi, Dean and Reid issue a statement? NOTHING. And ya'll get down on a wonderful lady when SHE DIDN'T BRING IT UP!
Some of you are just as evil and viscious as Hillary and just as self centered as BO.
Why doesn't the "caring" demo party really care Huh? All you want to do is mindlessly beat up any person remotely associated with the Republican party. You are so astoundingly shallow.

Cork your rage. The Rove playbook says to give anything R or Bush a pass on any and everything. It was not an appropriate forum to discuss the happy event and it made light of some people's awful losses. Even Perino could have handled that better than Laura. Why was SHE speaking, anyway? If she can't handle the press better than that she shouldn't be speaking for the president, who should have been speaking in the first place.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 05:25 AM on 05/06/2008

The press brought it up. Under the circumstances, she should have politely dismissed the subject, stating that this was not the proper venue. After all, thousands of people died, and she is standing there laughing about her family joy. It truly makes her come off as being totally disconnected with the suffering of others. Then, again, look who she's married to.

Heaven forbid a Bush know when to say the correct thing at the correct time. She should have told these reporters that she would love to talk wedding, but that this is not the venue to discuss ME or MY FAMILY at this time. I mean pu-lease. I guess she can't think on her own either.

The Bush Families' careers in public service have never been about what they could do for their country but how the country could serve them. They are just evil. And I don't use that world lightly.

They are not the Adamses, the Roosevelts, the Kennedys. All families who gave back more than they ever got.

We will continue to pay and pay and pay for their follies.

Oh yeah and that alter--how many kids were sacrificed to build George W.'s ego?

A White House wedding will be played to the hilt to make the murdering thieving Bush family seem more human.

Laura has just begun to twitter over this wedding.

Gag me.

It's not a White House wedding if it's not in the White House. I don't think the country could tolerate the media coverage of a Bush White House wedding. Jenna's getting married on "the ranch"--the one with no animals--in one butt-ugly part of Texas. Seems appropriate.

The media (including this article) talks about the "family ranch" in Crawford. What a crock of dung. It was built for the 2000 campaign as a photo background, and the Bush's aren't even going to move there next January -- they're moving back to Dallas.

The so-called "liberal media" lets Bush & Co get away with this time after time. Frankly, they should be FORCED to live in Crawford after the leave The White House...

The wedding is not in the White House. It will be at the Crawford ranch in Texas. Please do your homework !
