I am by far not a Bush supporter, but I really think Laura might have been innnocent here. Remember, as she was asked the questions about Jenna's wedding, she couldn't see the other half of the screen showing the devastaion of the storm that we all could see. She is just a mom excited about her daughter's upcoming celebration, as I would be as well. That said, GW is an idiot, and Go Obama, '08!
I agree (not necessarily about the Obama part) but I think the media comes across worse than she does.
Recall when W was asked what he planned to do post-Whitehouse?
Proper response: Work tirelessly to bring lasting peace to the Middle East.
Actual response: Go on the lecture circuit to replenish the ol’ coffers.
(spoken while troops were dying with no exit strategy in sight)
But Laura is to be pitied since Jenna is denying Mom a Rose Garden dog and pony show wedding.
Laura should have had enough sense to say that they were there to discuss the storm and just not answered the questions. The MSM and the Bushes have no sense of decorum or decency.
awkward!
You can hardly blame her , she's been set up by the MSM, who could care less about real events.
She is the wife of by far the worst President in history.
What can anyone expect?
They are both a disgrace.
Quick poll:
Would Laura have been a better President than Duhbya?
Yes, . . of course my Yorkshire terrier would have been a better Prez, too. The bar is really, really low.
Your dog's excrement would have been a better president.
Oh come on.
MSNBC ambush.
As if Mrs. B knew how she was being framed -- pun intended.
Oh, give pickles a break. Do you realize how incredibly fucking high she is? Vicodin is a hell of a drug.
LOL!
Who is more out of touch here? At least "crazy eyes" Laura has the excuse that she was probably half in the bag - if I had to face George W. Bush at breakfast every morning I'd start each day by gargling with Jack Daniels. But what excuse does the White House Press Corps have? When the camera panned the room to show them all laughing over possible baby names I half expected to hear someone call for another round of cosmos. I think the White House press room needs term limits as well.
Foreign journalists generally tend to ask a lot more diverse questions because they don't get as many opportunities to speak to figures outside of their own country.
The real problem is MSNBC knowingly leaving the feed running in order to get the comments about the "celebrity" wedding, so to speak, for their ratings.
Not every aspects of a press conference is aired. All kinds of stuff gets asked all the time. It was MSNBC that made a decision to keep air her remarks over the footage. I'm no fan of the Bushes, but I'd bet even the First Lady would be appalled to see that video herself. After all, she's the one who called the conference to bring attention to the issue.
she (just like her idiot hubby) is dumber than a box of rocks--and that's an insult...to the rocks.
How bizzar was that? Laura Bush's 7 and a half years of silence ends. Where the hell were her and George the last 7 and a half years when it came to offering good will to the rest of the world. He finally comes out on behalf of Africa and she Myanmar 7 and a half years into the Presidency. Too bloody little too bloody late. They must have begun to seriously consider the legacy they're leaving behind. What a bloody waste.
Its a miracle that they didn't compare it to Katrina. No sense of irony.
And what they hell was she doing on television? George really couldn't be because it would invite people to ask him about Katrina. The only insensitive Bush actually missing was Bar saying that this would really be working for the Myanmarians because you know they are really poor and the aid will help them out of poverty.
They are so mean. They are not dumb. They don't care. That is why people think they are dumb because the truth that they just don't give a shit about human beings is too terrifying to be grasped.
The problem here is Laura Bush's lack of common sense. If the conference dealt with Myanmar and the press started to ask her about the wedding, she could just have said that it wasn't the proper time to talk about it.
What gets to me is how easily she switched gears. These people can't help themselves, it's like the British royals. Anyone remember Barbara Bush's crack about the Katrina refugees? It comes out so natural because they've never given a damn about anyone and no one has ever taught them to fake it. I don't believe I've seen this woman do anything but SMILE since she's been in the public eye.
It's either her Botox injections, the fact that she's completely clueless, or a mixture of both.
