the conservative MSM never misses a chance to bash powerful democratic women.
but they give these stepford republican wives a free pass.
I wasn't bothered so much by the wedding talk as I was in the fact that she said she hoped the government of Burma will accept the offered aid from the U.S. but also she pointed out that the government failed to warn their citizens of the impending cyclone even though they had the information. Now if we want to help those poor folks, maybe we could have held off on bashing their government at this time. They don't like us anyway (government, not the people) and will let their people suffer to avoid accepting help from us. As in Iraq, it's the ordinary citizens who are no more a part of their government as most Americans who pay the biggest price.
SHE'S ON DRUGS...
It's obvious (to me, anyway) that Laura Bush he's being permanently sedated to keep her from screaming at her husband in public for his affairs (especially with Condi Rice). Fact. No wonder she segued from the megadeaths in Myanmar to Jenna's wedding. This is your Republican First Lady. This is your Republican First Lady on drugs....
Typical Huffpo and their ilk. Shame on all of you. The lady cares about Burma enough to hold a press conference and answers all the questions and Huffpo deems it "inapproriate". Shame.
Did she hold a press conference about the victims of Hurricane Katrina? Enlighten me if she did, beause I missed it.
she must have taken some sensitivity training from ol' gasbag barb "this is working very well for them" bush.
If Laura has been First Lady of the US for 8 years, 1st lady of Texas for a term, daughter in law for a two term Vice President and one term President, does that give her enough experience to run for President in 2012?
More than her husband had in 2000.
Two things jumped out at me as I watched Mrs. Bush today:
First-- Did she, as the wife of the guy who stole the 200o election, think there might be a tad bit of irony in her lamentation that the rightful winner of the Myanmar election was not in power either?
Second-- Where was a precedent-setting news conference from the First Lady after Hurricane Katrina? My heart goes out to the cyclone victims, but doesn't charity begin at home?
As for whether she should have discussed her daughter's upcoming wedding: Big deal. She didn't bring it up; a reporter did. And the wedding of the daughter of a sitting President is at least as interesting as what typically passes for entertainment news and at least has some (not much) historical significance.
]A
exactly what i was thinking as i watched her speak.
the woman has no irony in her diet
Warning: Huffington Post editors may have too much time on their hands. She has no control on what questions are asked or what images are put up by MSNBC while they are doing the asking. Their is plenty of Bush crap without manufacturing extra.
Let them eat limestone--these ELITE Bushes, so out of touch with the common man since they're surrounded by oil-Yes-men
Not a fan of Bush but it seems like half the commenters are just waiting for the moment to release their pent-up vile hatred on anything connected with his administration including his family. I'll be glad to see his presidency end but I don't have such a chip on my shoulder to call Laura Bush a vacant, moronic idiot just because of these comments she made about her daughter's wedding. Jesus Christ, I'd hate to meet some of you people in real life. She's obviously excited about the wedding, like most mothers would be in her situation, and the press started asking her questions about it and she answered their questions,
Okay. Well how about the press conference she held in a classroom surrounded by children in the weeks immediately following Katrina (when the Bush administration was still pretending it cared about the victims) and Laura referred "Hurricane Corrina" no less than three times? Laura Bush never did correct her mistake, even though she spoke with the press several times throughout that day. And how about the time she went on Good Morning America to scold critics of the occupation in Iraq for ignoring the abundance of good news coming out of Iraq and concentrating instead on the "one car bomb that goes off each day in a city of millions" when in reality between eighty-five and one-hundred-thirty car bombs were going off each day in Baghdad? This isn't some housewife being ambushed with unexpected questions, this is the First Lady making a point of speaking out on a subject in an attempt to sway public opinion. She is either way out of touch, or intentionally misleading the public. Either way this behavior is unacceptable from a woman in her position.
You must be kidding. Your country illegally invaded a soverign country and has been murdering it's women and children by the bucket load, and you want to give this poor excuse for a human, a break.
So, our drugged up Czarina wanted to talk about her daughter's wedding.
F*ck her.
chicken press are nothing but gossip hounds and media whores--they make news that doesn't mean a dam thing--
What is even worse is she has the nerve to preach to the "junta" there....
When she has kept her mouth closed to the "junta" here.
What nerve preaching to them, when New Orleans was handled the
way it was!!
Charity starts @ home Mrs. Bush.
I have absolutely no joy in any of the bush family, but at today news conference, it was again the so called elitist journalists asking numb and dumb questions of her!
As First Lady she is supposed to know how to answer those questions with dignity and grace.
She didn't have to gush so about the extravagant plans when the subject was people killed and homeless.
Tacky.
A First Lady should know better than this.
I kinda thought that she was just a bit smarter than he. Guess they're BOTH morons!
ER, YEAH...
It takes one to marry one....
