The "Sex and the City" movie opens May 30, and after a weekend screening in New York reviews have started to trickle out. And they're great. Here is a roundup of what the first couple reviewers are saying, with no spoilers.

The New York Daily News "Sex and the City: The Movie" review writes:

Will love conquer all? Is age only a number? Does Samantha sleep with her hot neighbor? I'm not telling.

But just like any great night out with best friends, "Sex and the City: The Movie" is awash with so much love that it lingers long after the last cocktail runs dry.

Foxnews.com has a "Sex and the City: The Movie" review:

It's going to be a very, very big hit.

I saw it on Saturday night at a private screening. Women wept, cheered. It's the Neiman Marcus catalog on steroids.

The four female stars -- not to mention Chris Noth as Mr. Big, David Eigenberg as Steve and Evan Handler as Harry -- are the most appealing ensemble of the year.

The other review is that of Oprah's audience. The cast joined Winfrey last Thursday, and beforehand the audience was treated to the film, minus the last 20 minutes. From the shrieks, whooping and resounding applause the audience gave, it seemed they really, really liked it.

The Rotten Tomatoes "Sex and the City" movie review is thus far not helpful.

Oprah's audience shrieks and shrills at everything! They are usually a bunch of desperate housewives who get excited at the latest models in vacume cleaners! How is that anything to go by?

OK. That made me chuckle.
I never understood the fascination with this show... I guess I missed the demo?

The group of women that I work with are planning a big girls' night out when the movie opens. We're talking limo, dinner and then the movie. We are all looking forward to it!

Just the thing to make one forget all the horrible things that are going on in the world today, at least for a few hours.

Thank goodness I'm married to a woman who thinks crap like this is,well, crap.

I won't repeat what she says about the women who watch this kind of stuff.Let it suffice it involves drool and orifices better left unnamed.

Your opinion is baseless and it's kind of sad you seem to be negative for no reason. Good luck with that husband, I bet he enjoys you baselessy ridiculing him too.

I'm actually looking forward to this one, but by the time it hits London, it will probably be the end of the summer.

I loved the show, it was one the things that kept me going while I lay in my hospital bed night after night a few years ago. While my roommate was watching the war live on fox, I was watching that.

I think Kim Cattrel has been somewhat of a snob when it came to finally making this movie. She wanted more and more money, knowing full well they couldn't make it without her. I don't think she is the best of the lot by any means, but thankfully they finally got her along to film it!

I expect it will be fantastic, my little sweeties! Fabulous (try saying it in a sing-song voice. It's FUN!) will barely begin to cover it. I can't wait for the clever banter to ensue between these thoughtful, intelligent women. You know, It's just nice to see a movie about women who aren't completely absorbed in the minutae of their own lives/self-images/insecurities/appearances, etc. These are some competent, self-aware, gals!

One thing, though, I hope that they don't drop the Doogie Howser ending, like on the show! It always helped me get my head around the "moral" of the story! I'll tell you another thing, just between us girls, that Samantha is going to put the "oral" back in "moral"! I know that the girls in my bible-study class would not approve, but these ladies... what more can I say? FABULOUS!
